The legendary run of The Ultimate Warrior made him a tremendous Superstar in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s for WWE. Warrior received a huge push and joined the incredible list of faces of the Golden Era with Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and Roddy Piper. The unique presentation of the colorful character running on adrenaline thrived in the spotlight for a few years.

8 Using Magic Powers On Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior

The WCW signing of Ultimate Warrior provided negative results when the company wanted to add another former WWE star. Warrior came in specifically to feud with Hulk Hogan by referencing Hogan never beating him in WWE.

The angle would see Warrior haunting Hogan and having spooky character elements added that were different from his WWE time. Warrior appeared in the mirror when Hogan looked, but no one else saw him aside from the fans. Various embarrassing segments like that made the Warrior vs Hogan program lose interest before the match.

7 Feud Vs Jerry Lawler Flopping

Jerry Lawler's art of Ultimate Warrior

WWE tried to recreate the magic of The Ultimate Warrior in 1996 by having him come back as a big face. Warrior didn’t have the same appeal as fans started to love newer top faces like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and The Undertaker in the main event picture.

Jerry Lawler was on the roster as a wrestler and part-time commentator around the time Warrior returned. WWE wanted them in a program to hopefully elevate Warrior’s status against a fellow veteran. The entire feud was an embarrassment with their big match at King of the Ring 1996 flopping.

6 One Warrior Nation

Ultimate Warrior

The concept of the One Warrior Nation featured Ultimate Warrior wanting his own group to feud with the New World Order in WCW. It was intentional to have an acronym of OWN to have the backwards version of the nWo.

Warrior’s promos referencing the Nation felt like a joke despite him wanting to make it work. Roddy Piper and Diamond Dallas Page eventually aligned with Warrior for a short-term faction in the War Games 1998 match. Both wrestlers luckily distanced themselves from the One Warrior Nation afterwards since it didn’t connect at all.

5 Losing Title Before WrestleMania 7

Sgt. Slaughter

WrestleMania 6 was the biggest night of Ultimate Warrior’s career when defeating Hulk Hogan to win the WWE Championship. Warrior had a lengthy reign heading into the following year, but WWE lost faith in him at the worst time possible.

The weak matches and lack of momentum for Warrior showed fans didn’t have the same long-term love for him as Hogan. WWE rushed to have Warrior drop the belt to Sgt. Slaughter since a heel facing Hogan at WrestleMania 7 felt more ideal. Warrior being removed from the title picture so close to the biggest show was a rough moment in his career.

4 Final Match Vs Orlando Jordan

Ultimate Warrior vs Orlando Jordan

The end of Ultimate Warrior’s career was an embarrassment for many reasons. Warrior burnt his bridge with WWE and no other major promotion dared take a chance on him after his horrible run in WCW sunk his value.

The only match to come after the WCW flop was an independent appearance against Orlando Jordan of all people in Barcelona, Spain. Warrior strangely tried to wrestle a 20-minute match and it was a disaster with no real entertainment. The final match of Warrior’s career was a worst-case scenario for a former legend.

3 Self-Destruction DVD

Ultimate Warrior

WWE showed just how badly things ended with The Ultimate Warrior when producing a DVD about his career for the first time. The Self-Destruction of Ultimate Warrior featured many of his worst stories highlighted with top stars burying him.

Names like Hulk Hogan, Bobby Heenan, Triple H, and Vince McMahon called out all the terrible things Warrior did in and outside of the ring. Warrior was clearly embarrassed when making many negative comments towards WWE and the talents involved who had dissed him.

2 Papa Shango Making Him Sick

Papa Shango

The star power of The Ultimate Warrior should have exempted him from ridiculous storylines when Papa Shango debuted. Most WWE fans today know Charles Wright as The Godfather, but he started off with using voodoo powers as his gimmick.

Warrior took part in a few regretful segments trying to sell the antics of Papa Shango. The worst ones featured moments like Warrior falling down in pain despite no one touching him and throwing up. Papa Shango still flopped as a character and Wright needed to switch to Kama Mustafa to keep his career going.

1 All-Time Bad Match Vs Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior

An argument can be made that the worst match in wrestling history featured two of the top names of their generation. Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior bringing their WWE feud to WCW just added a terrible weekly segment to the show setting up the big match.

Halloween Havoc 1998 was the night where Hogan and Warrior stunk it up with a classic bad match. The botches, rest holds, and Hogan somehow burning his own eyes during a fire spot lives in infamy today. Warrior did the job for Hogan in a terrible match.
