Many people perceive the WWE to be a brand that is biased towards heavyweights and which hesitates to give high flyers a push. Some may perceive this to be justified action as heavyweights after all do sell more views and tickets.

However, there were some immensely talented high-flyers who graced the WWE whom many think should have been treated better. Perhaps some of these guys just did not make it because of their work ethic or maybe they just needed a little push from the company backing them. The travel schedule of WWE superstars is quite intense and can cause a lot of people to lose focus.

10 Rob Van Dam

RVD was immensely popular during his peak in the early 2000s and is perhaps one of the greatest Intercontinental Champions in history though some believe that his success should have come earlier on, had he been pushed in the right direction.

He is definitely deserving of a hall of fame induction. RVD did get a push later in his career when he beat John Cena at the ECW “One Night Stand” Pay Per View and in doing so, became the first man and only man to hold the WWE and ECW titles at the same time. Whilst Champion, he was arrested whilst driving along with Terry Brunk (Sabu) and subsequently lost the WWE and ECW Championships in consecutive tapings.

9 Chavo Guerrero

Following the tragic passing of Eddie Guerrero in 2005, Rey Mysterio got a push which led to him winning the 2006 Royal Rumble as well as a triple threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Kurt Angle at Randy Orton at WrestleMania 22. Some would argue that it should have been Guerrero who got the push rather than Mysterio.

Chavo was after all similar in terms of his uncle with his move-set and carried the same surname as his uncle. It is likely that Eddie would have wanted to see Chavo getting a push. Chavo was released from WWE in June 2011. During his reign with the company, he did hold the Cruiserweight Championship, ECW Championship, and tag team championship with his uncle.

8 Billy Kidman

Kidman was one of the few faces that the WCW had during the invasion into the WWE. Whilst the New Blood faction was not too successful, Kidman was the standout member of the stable as a heel.

Like a lot of wrestlers who entered the WWE during the invasion, Kidman was misused and that costed him in the long run. To some, the greatest part of his time with the WWE may have been his theme song.

7 Paul London

London was perhaps one of the best Cruiserweight Champions during the Velocity era. He was charismatic in terms of his mic skills and was a technical wrestler.

It is a pity that most people probably have now forgotten that he was part of the WWE due to the lack of push he received.

6 Justin Gabriel

Gabriel who became the first South African to wrestle in the WWE had a killer finish called the 450 splash.

He did receive a full-time contract with the WWE following the inaugural edition fo NXT and did win the tag-team championship with Heath Slater but probably could have achieved more in singles competition where he never really progressed beyond the lower-card.

5 Chris Jericho

Although Chris Jericho (who is one of a few superstars that uses his real name in the WWE)  had a lengthy 19-year spell in the WWE, it is widely believed that he was one of the best at his craft of all-time and did not get the credit that he deserved for his contributions to the company.

It came as little surprise when Jericho joined the new All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2019. Jericho held the AEW World Championship title for 182 days before losing it against Jon Moxley (better known as Dean Ambrose to WWE fans) at AEW’s Revolution event in February.

4 The Hurricane

The Hurricane had a killer theme song and a nice superhero image. However, most WWE fans will best remember him as being a jobber. Before he entered the WWE, Hurricane (real name Gregory Helms) was expected to become a star in the professional wrestling industry.

Though he managed to win the European Championship, World Tag-Team Championship, Hardcore Championship, and Cruiserweight Championship, Hurricane was never really taken seriously by many. He did show glimpses of brilliance which led to him having a mini-feud with the Rock in 2003 but was never seen as a main eventer. He did have above in-ring skills and microphone skills and could have progressed better if he was managed better.

3 Spike Dudley

To some Spike Dudley may be regarded as a glorified jobber whilst to others who became famous alongside his brothers (D-Von and Baba Ray) whilst to others he was criminally underrated.

Granted, Spike probably did not have the size to be a major star in the business (he was even significantly smaller than a lot of cruiserweight wrestlers) but that is not to say that he could have been given more recognition and made to job. He is certainly worthy of being included in the Hall of Fame.

2 Simon Dean

Some will remember him as being Nova on ECW. Unfortunately, Dean was nothing more than a jobber during his tenure with the WWE. An interesting fact about him though is that he secured a victory over John Cena (then known as the Prototype) during his first match in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) in 2002.

Dean had decent in-ring ability and microphone skills. Even though he was a jobber, he was one that was memorable and not one that faded into everyone’s memory. He was also rather funny when he came to the ring with his Dean mobile.

1 Shelton Benjamin

There is a reason why Benjamin is a three-time Wrestling Observer most underrated star. His athletic ability was among the greatest in the business though it can be argued that he lacks the greatest mic skills (but so does the Undertaker after all). Benjamin did great as Intercontinental Championship, speaking of that Championship, Sami Zayn was recently stripped of it.

Whether Benjamin was worthy of being pushed for a major World Championship shot is something that will always be debated but he has certainly been among the best ever high-flyers to feature in the WWE. Benjamin recently penned a multi-year contract with the WWE, but due to his age, it seems unlikely that he will ever get a big push.
