During the peak of the Attitude Era, WWE had many crazy storylines taking place week in and week out on TV. This one was no different as The Undertaker led a stable called 'The Ministry Of Darkness' which eventually turned into 'The Corporate Ministry.' Undertaker talked of a "Higher Power" who ordered him to perform his evil deeds.

It was an enthralling storyline that could have had a brilliant payoff with the "Higher Power" reveal. However, Vince McMahon revealed himself as this entity and it's safe to say it was a dud. Yes, the reveal was a legit shock but it didn't make sense and therefore failed.

10 Better - Ted DiBiase

This would have made perfect sense due to DiBiase's gimmick and relationships with Undertaker and Stone Cold. DiBiase was the man who brought The Undertaker into the WWE.

Meanwhile, Stone Cold was the reason why he left, after losing on purpose in a match in which if Stone Cold lost, DiBiase was fired. Also, add the fact he was 'The Million Dollar Man' who would do anything for power/money with Taker wanting control of the WWF and it's too perfect.

9 Worse - Stone Cold Steve Austin

This would have been even more bizarre than Vince McMahon being the Higher Power. Stone Cold was the one who saved Stephanie McMahon from the Ministry and wanted to take them down. Therefore, him being the Higher Power wouldn't have made any sense.

As fans know, Vince didn't make sense either but it was definitely a better option than Stone Cold. If it was 'The Rattlesnake,' then the entire feud would die out and the whole storyline up until that point would have been a waste of time.

8 Better - Jake "The Snake" Roberts

Many people thought Jake Roberts was going to be the Higher Power and leaks even stated as much. Roberts would have been a solid choice as he had a history with Taker and his gimmick was creepy and fit into the satanic ministry stable.

It would have been interesting to see how to story panned out if it was Roberts as fans could have seen some genuinely creepy moments. It also would have received a huge pop from the crowd seeing Roberts unhood himself.

7 Worse - Linda McMahon

Linda McMahon WWE

Even thinking about this is nightmare-inducing. Vince's wife Linda being the Higher Power would have been a dreadful decision. It would cause the WWF to be centered around McMahon family drama even more than usual.

Also, Taker teaming up with Linda and following her orders would have been a strange sight to see. It would have been a shock reveal for certain, however, a shock reveal doesn't mean it's a good one.

6 Better - Shawn Michaels

Shawn being the Higher Power would have made as much sense as Vince. However, his return would have resulted in a gigantic pop and would have been an even bigger shock than Vince.

Michaels was appearing on WWF TV during that period but it was few and far between and of course, he wasn't an active wrestler. Therefore, Shawn revealing himself as the Higher Power could have led to an in-ring return or a bigger non-active role.

5 Worse - Christopher Daniels

Daniels was also heavily rumored for the role, with Vince Russo being a big fan of his. However, this would have been a complete dud if he actually was picked to be the Higher Power.

He wasn't well known at the time and the reaction upon his reveal would have been complete silence. Also, Taker following orders from someone unknown at the time would have been strange and add to the fact that he was much shorter than all the members of the Ministry.

4 Better - Sting

Sting making his WWE debut here would have been one of the biggest debuts in wrestling history. It would make more sense if Sting was the one fighting the Ministry, however, him teaming him Taker and then turning on him could have been gold.

Sting could have been the Higher Power and been tricking Taker the whole time until he eventually turned on him, destroying the Ministry from the inside as a result. This, of course, would have led to a dream match between the two.

3 Worse - Stephanie McMahon

This would have been similar to Linda being the Higher Power. It would have resulted in weekly McMahon family drama which would have made the Ministry look goofy and its serious tone would have been instantly tarnished.

Also, Steph was the one who had to be saved by Stone Cold as the Ministry planned on performing a satanic ritual on her. Therefore, all that being a ruse and Steph being the Higher Power would have been strange and fans would've lost interest.

2 Better - Don Callis

Callis was performing as The Jackyl who was a charismatic cult leader who would manipulate and brainwash wrestlers into being his followers. He was also heavily hinted as being the Higher Power by JR on commentary.

It wouldn't have been a shock reveal as such and fan reaction initially wouldn't have been ideal. However, Callis was a brilliant promo and played the cult leader gimmick perfectly. He certainly would have gotten fans invested long term which is better than a short term shock reveal.

1 Worse - Vince Russo

Vince Russo was well known for his crazy dramatic storytelling and forcing himself onto TV in some way. Therefore, it wouldn't have been a shock if he actually made himself the Higher Power.

It would have been a dreadful choice as Taker following Russo's order would have been hilariously unrealistic. Russo saying "It's me Austin bro, it was me all along, bro" would have made many fans vomit on the spot.
