Wrestlers date co-workers all the time. This trend makes the wrestling industry similar to a college dorm or other situations where young adults make foolish decisions with one another. The result is a wrestling industry filled with scandalous activity, cheating partners, and love triangles which will later be referenced on live television.

There is no other industry in the world like pro wrestling and in no other area of life is this more apparent than in the private romantic relationships of the industry's stars. Just recently, Nikki Bella and John Cena ended their engagement which began at WrestleMania 33. One year after their engagement, all Cena cared about was having a match with Undertaker at WrestleMania 34 and meanwhile his private life was falling apart. Man, take some time off and work on your relationship John!

Cena and Nikki Bella perfectly encapsulate what wrestling relationships are all about. Not only was their engagement public at WrestleMania but almost all facets of their relationship were exposed on Total Divas. When the Miz complained that Cena and Nikki's relationship was manufactured for the cameras, he was probably right! Here are 20 wrestling couples you forgot used to date.

20 Charlotte Flair and Alberto Del Rio

via usanetwork.com/dailymail.co.uk

Just before Alberto Del Rio began dating Paige, he is believed to have been romantically involved with Charlotte Flair. In fact, there was said to have been a little bit of heat between Paige and Charlotte as a result.

It's likely that both Paige and Charlotte Flair are happy to be rid of Del Rio. Paige is already dating someone new, heavy metal bassist Kalan Blehm. They began dating just months after word of her and Del Rio's breakup occurred.

Since then, it appears Charlotte has either been avoiding relationships or keeping them secret. She's already been married and divorced twice at 32 years-old, that might not be a bad idea for her.

19 Nikki Bella and Dolph Ziggler

via heavy.com

Dolph Ziggler and Nikki Bella started dating in 2008. Ziggler would state on Total Divas that he still had feelings for Nikki but that is largely believed to have been done for the sake of making the show entertaining. Ziggler, John Cena, and Nikki Bella have never seemed to have any heat whatsoever over their love triangle.

What do you think the odds are Dolph Ziggler gives Nikki Bella a call now that she and John Cena have broken up?

What if he just sends her a text that says something simple like "Just heard. Thinking of you..." and perhaps a vague emoji tacked on. He's single, she's single, who knows?!

After he and Nikki broke up, Ziggler started dating comedian, Amy Schumer. He's a guy who has dated a lot of people in and out of wrestling.

18 Terri Runnels and New Jack

via bodybuilding.com

Has there ever been a couple more adorable than New Jack and Terri Runnels?! The former valet to Goldust and ECW's most violent wrestler are believed to have dated between 2009 and 2011. A surprise to nobody, the couple did not split under amicable circumstances. In fact, they ended up in court with one another. Terri sued New Jack for defamation and prevented him from spreading scandalous photographs of her. Sadly, the couple was never able to patch up their differences and reconcile.

As for New Jack, he's made a return to wrestling of sorts. He wrestled nearly a full independent schedule in 2016 and 2017. He hasn't seemed to have wrestled a match since the fall, however. Terri Runnels has a podcast now titled Cigars, Scars, and Superstars: A Terri Runnels podcast.

17 Enzo and Liv Morgan

via ewrestlingnews.com

Liv Morgan and Enzo are believed to have started dating while both were in developmental. Both worked at Hooters, perhaps they met before the developmental days. Why this was never worked into a gimmick, is anyone's guess. They broke up in 2017.

Last year, Morgan sent out a tweet indicating someone (presumably Enzo) had cheated on her. Since that time, a lot has changed in the careers of both these two. Morgan has been called up to the main roster and is holding her own as a member of the Riott Squad. Enzo, on the other hand, has been fired from WWE. Well, perhaps Enzo can get his job at Hooters back.

16 Wade Barrett and Alicia Fox

via wwe.com

Alicia Fox opened up about her relationship with Wade Barrett in an interview with The Sun last year. She admitted the pair were perhaps better friends than partners.

Fox said she had trouble speaking with Wade Barrett about some of the issues she was going through.

Apparently, he just kept interrupting her to say he had some "bad news".... In all seriousness though, Fox mentioned her mother was homeless for a few years but she was unable to speak with Barrett about it despite them having been in a relationship for two years.

Barrett left WWE in 2016. Since his departure, the former WWE star took on some acting roles. He's never ruled out a return to the ring, however, and is involved with the Defiant promotion in the UK.

15 Michael Hayes and Rosa Mendes

via thesportster.com

We're sorry to do this but the nature of this article requires us to remind you of the rumored torrid love affair between the Fabulous Freebirds' Michael Hayes and Rosa Mendes. We understand how unpleasant this is for you and humbly apologize.

It's not clear exactly what the nature of Hayes and Mendes' relationship has been over the years.

There have been plenty of rumors, however. In 2013, Hayes was suspended after it was revealed he was out at a bar drinking with Mendes. At the time, Mendes had just returned to the company after a stint in WWE-sponsored rehab. There are other rumors that Hayes is the reason Mendes was never released during her WWE tenure. Mendes lasted 11 years with WWE, from her Tough Enough signing in 2006 to finally announcing her retirement in 2017. She had been on maternity leave for a year when she announced her retirement.

via wrestlingmedia.org

She was released from her WWE contract in 2010 and signed with Ring of Honor. Maria began managing her husband, Mike Bennett, along with Matt Taven in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. via slam.canoe.com

Rewind back ten years ago and Mickie James and Kenny Dykstra were both in WWE and engaged to be married. Kenny (of Spirit Squad fame) was in his early 20s at the time and James was six years his senior.

Kenny then caught her Googling to see if word of her affair with Cena leaked out. Once word of the love-triangle reached WWE management, Kenny was switched brands, jobbed out, and released. Later, after Cena made it clear to Mickie that their relationship wasn't going anywhere, she freaked out and was later released as well.

James wrestled outside WWE for nearly seven years before finally getting her job back in WWE. Kenny now plays a major role in Tommy Dreamer's House of Hardcore promotion.

12 Zack Ryder and Emma

via heavy.com

Zack Ryder and Emma were a rather photogenic couple during their brief time together. They broke up rather amicably in 2017 and Ryder is now dating Laurel Van Ness who also wrestles as Chelsea Green. It's not clear why Emma and Ryder broke up but odds are good Ryder's addiction to spray-on tans played a role.

Emma now wrestles under her real name, Tenille Dashwood. She recently took part in ROH's Women of Honor Championship tournament, losing in the semi-finals. Dashwood is working to become an important part of the independent women's wrestling scene in the next few years. As for Zack Ryder, he recently moved from SmackDown to Raw as part of the 2018 Superstar Shakeup.

11 Charlotte Flair and Bram

via sportskeeda.com

Former Impact Wrestling star, Bram, was married to Charlotte Flair from 2013 to 2015. It was Charlotte's second marriage.

Bram ended up leaving Impact Wrestling in 2017 after a four-year run with the company. He was part of an exchange program between Impact and Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan but Bram was suspended by the company for inappropriate behavior in public. He had posted a photo of himself laying flat atop a convenience store's ice cream display in Japan, which evidently was taken quite seriously by the promotion. NOAH found another partner for Robbie E, who had been tagging with Bram on the tour. Charlotte continues to lay low since the relationship ended.

10 John Cena and Mickie James

via listas.20minutos.es

John Cena has broken a lot of hearts in wrestling and one of them belongs to Mickie James. Cena and James had an affair sometime around 2008 while James was engaged to Kenny and Cena was still with his longtime high school girlfriend, Elizabeth Huberdeau.

Cena married Huberdeau in 2009 and James and Cena are believed to have been together briefly around 2008. Huberdeau is Cena's only ex-wife, as he and Nikki Bella never did get married, breaking up in April 2018.

It is believed James was released due to how she reacted to the breakup. She is now married to the current NWA World Heavyweight's Champion, Nick Aldis. Fans of Impact Wrestling will better know him as Magnus.

9 CM Punk and Beth Phoenix

via cwcasadowrestling.wordpress.com

Beth Phoenix and CM Punk were dating briefly before a public breakup in 2011. Not long after his breakup with Beth Phoenix, CM Punk went on an Arizona radio station and blasted an ex-girlfriend of his who he felt just wanted anyone to be her boyfriend. It's not clear exactly what problems went down between the two but despite a relatively brief relationship, the split seemed a little testy. Punk started to date Lita after the breakup.

Phoenix is currently married to Edge and the couple of have two kids together. Phoenix made an appearance in the first ever Women's Royal Rumble back in January. Edge is working as an actor and has an entertaining podcast with his longtime friend and former tag team partner, Christian.

8 Brad Maddox and Paige

via youtube.com

Brad Maddox and Paige dated while both were in developmental. Sadly, neither of them are wresting today. Paige retired due to chronic neck issues but has since been cast as the General Manager of SmackDown. Maddox was released by WWE in 2015. He too was once cast as a General Manager, having formerly been in charge of Monday Night Raw.

In March of 2017, Maddox deleted all of his social media accounts. This was not long after leaked iPhone data was publicly exposed featuring Maddox, Paige, and another WWE Superstar in a scandalous situation.

As for Paige, it's not clear if her retirement will end up being permanent. Paige mentioned the night after WrestleMania that she still has hope she will wrestle again one day. She said that Daniel Bryan gives her hope she'll be back one day too.

7 Stacy Keibler and David Flair

via prowrestling.wikia.com

Stacy Keibler has dated both George Clooney and David Flair. There is so much space between George Clooney and David Flair it's hard to believe how one woman could have navigated between the two of them at any point throughout her life. Stacy Keibler did exactly that, however!

The winner of the situation is Jared Pobre. He was friends with Keibler for several years and Pobre was there to successfully break out of the friend zone and land himself Stacy Keibler for a wife!

Keibler and Pobre had a child in 2014. David Flair is married as well and sometimes appears in the background of pictures which feature his more famous and talented father and sister.

6 Matt Hardy and Ashley Massaro

via ringthedamnbell.wordpress.com

Matt Hardy has a thing for edgy women. He was with Lita and now he is with the feisty, Reby Sky. For a brief period, he was also with Ashley Massaro.

The couple dated during Massaro's short-lived run with the company. Massaro was discovered in the 2005 Diva Search but would be gone from the company in 2008. Her 8-year-old daughter was sick at the time and Massaro requested her release so she could care for her.

It is believed Massaro ended up leaving Matt Hardy for Paul London at some point. There was said to have been heat between London and Hardy as a result. So much so in fact, that when both were in Ring of Honor together years later, London requested he did not take part in anything Matt related.

5 Torrie Wilson and Billy Kidman

via pinterest.com

Kidman and Wilson started dating while both were in WCW during the promotion's struggling days.

They both made their way to WWE after Vince McMahon purchased the company and would be married in 2003.

They would divorce five years later in 2008.

Wilson ended up dating Nick Mitchell from the Spirit Squad but would later end up in a public relationship with baseball player, Alex Rodriguez. Wilson and A-Rod broke up in 2015 after being together for four years. She now runs her own fitness website. At the first-ever women's Royal Rumble this January, Wilson returned to the ring looking incredible. Kidman's still with the WWE working the gorilla position allotting the times needed for matches and segments.

4 Chyna and X-Pac

via foxnews.com

This was a low point in the lives of both Sean "X-Pac" Waltman and Chyna. The two began dating in 2003 and broke up in 2005. They still carried on some type of friendship or relationship after they broke up, however. Waltman delivered a moving speech at Chyna's memorial after she passed  in 2016.

Waltman was on the Steve Austin show recently and talked about a conversation he had with Triple H when he started dating her.

According to Waltman, Triple H gave him a heavy warning about Chyna. He wouldn't go into any further details than that, other than just to say Triple H gave him a stern word of caution before they went out. Waltman would also say he regrets leaking an intimate tape involving he and Chyna. He said they were motivated by the attention Paris Hilton’s tape got.

3 Carmella and Big Cass

via pinterest.com

Carmella and Big Cass are no longer dating. They started dating when both were in the company's developmental program. In fact, Carmella used to be the third member of the Enzo and Big Cass duo. She may have felt upset to not be included with the team when they were called up to the main roster in 2016.

Carmella was called up a few months later but would debut on SmackDown as opposed to Raw where Big Cass and Enzo were. She would blaze her own path, however, winning the first ever Women's Money in the Bank match and then later defeating Charlotte Flair for the Women's Title.

In an interview she gave this January, Carmella revealed she and Big Cass bought a house together but their relationship began to deteriorate after that.

2 Dana Brooke and Dolph Ziggler

via pinterest.com

Dolph Ziggler dated a lot of women and one of them is Dana Brooke.

It's hard to decipher when Ziggler stopped or started dating Brooke or any of his other former love interests. He seems to maintain good relationships with all of them after and never has heat with their current boyfriends. How is this not his wrestling gimmick? Dolph Ziggler could be a new and arguably improved version of Ravishing Rick Rude.

Dana Brooke would later date bodybuilder, Dallas McCarver but tragedy struck last year. McCarver passed away last summer. While it was originally reported he choked on food, a later autopsy would show he passed away of a cardiac event.

1 Sunny and Davey Richards

via pwmania.com/tmz.com

Sunny admitted in a 2015 Twitter exchange that she dated Impact Wrestling's Davey Richards for about a year. Richards was briefly married to Angelina Love. They got married in 2015, had a kid in 2016, then wrapped up their three-year relationship by getting divorced in 2017.

It's not clear if Davey Richards is ever coming back to wrestling. He stated last November he was taking the year off to focus on his studies. Richards has also burned quite a few bridges in the wrestling business. He has publicly berated Ring of Honor to such a degree that it might make other promotions hesitant to sign him.

As for Sunny, she's still being Sunny. A few DUIs here and a few scandalous shoot interviews there.
