As with most of us, a large percentage of wrestlers have close relationships with their mothers. The work of a parent is extremely important in putting a wrestler in a position to sign with WWE. A life in the wrestling industry is a huge gamble and a wrestler getting support from their family is usually a constant in the success stories. The current top stars will bring their families to the biggest shows for them like WrestleMania, Summerslam or other events where they have a major match or moment.

The mother of Alexa Bliss will make you remember just how young the Raw Women’s Champion is. Bliss has already had dominant reigns with both titles on Raw and Smackdown all by the age of 26 years old. The success of Alexa has come faster than anyone could have expected considering she was never a top star in NXT.

Bliss’ mother is one of the youngest moms of the current WWE stars. Most people assume they are sisters rather than mother and daughter when seen together. Angela Kaufman had Alexa during her teenage years meaning she is still in her early-to-mid 40s. Bliss has stated numerous times that her parents supported her through her eating disorders and it was a huge reason she was able to persevere before finding a successful career in WWE.

16 Marjolaine Ouelette (Maryse's mom)

Maryse recently became a mother when welcoming the first child of her and The Miz into the world. Both wrestlers have been very excited about becoming parents and embracing the next chapter in their lives. Maryse will likely take notes from her own mother whom she has a very close relationship with. Marjolaine Ouelette is the mother of Maryse that raised her in Montreal, Canada.

You may have seen Maryse’s mother on Total Divas during a scary moment. Marjolaine video called Maryse and Miz to inform them of a burglar on the property attempting to break in. Maryse was terrified at the thought of her mother being in danger at their home. Luckily, Marjolaine was able to call the police to scare off the burglar. Maryse giving birth has to make Marjolaine excited about being a grandmother.

The signing of Ronda Rousey by WWE has seen her become one of the company’s hottest commodities. WWE believes Rousey can be one of the top draws in recent memory for the company following her massive success in MMA. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon reportedly recruited Rousey for years before she finally agreed to come on board for the foreseeable future.

Ronda’s mother is AnnMaria De Mars and she has been present during the UFC days. AnnMaria had a background in judo as she competed in the 1984 World Judo Tournament. It only made sense that Rousey would follow in her mother’s footsteps to become a judoka. AnnMaria also achieved success as a tech executive. We may see AnnMaria in attendance at WrestleMania 34 for Ronda’s first big WWE match.

Roman Reigns has become a massive star for WWE in a short time. It feels like not too long ago that he debuted with The Shield. WWE always knew they wanted Reigns to become a major player for the company as the eventual replacement for John Cena as the face of the company. It is easy to forget Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas are brothers given how drastically different they are on WWE today. Even when fans do remember Wyatt and Dallas are brothers, they think of their father Mike “I.R.S.” Rotunda due to his wrestling career. Both brothers were able to get opportunities in WWE developmental thanks to their dad having a lot of respect in the WWE bubble.

The lesser known parent of Rotunda boys is their mother. Not many fans are aware of Stephanie Rotunda, but she raised two successful WWE stars. Stephanie had her own ties to wrestling as the daughter of Blackjack Mulligan and the sister of Barry Windham. They met through the wrestling industry and raised two wrestlers. Bryan has expressed how grateful he is about being able to achieve his dream and has gone as far to state he thinks he gets paid too much money for it. Money was tough for Bryan to acquire growing up as he’s stated numerous times his family was poor.

Bryan’s mother Darlene Jean Danielson had to work her tail off to provide for him and his sister. Darlene worked and went to college in hopes of getting a better job for her family. The success of Bryan has been amazing for her to witness considering it’s been his path since becoming an adult. Bryan was able to bring Darlene to WrestleMania XXX for the biggest moment of his career. We may see her come back to New Orleans for Bryan’s return match at WrestleMania 34.

The career of Mojo Rawley has been stalling over the past year following his Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal win. Rawley did not get much of a push following the biggest win of his career. The heel turn for Mojo has not helped him as he continues to struggle to get television time. Rawley is known for being a positive person in real life which is something he likely got from his upbringing.

Mojo has revealed he has a close relationship with his mother Maria Muhtadi-Roach. She has a social media page where she mostly uses it to show support for her son. Rawley wrote a touching message for her on social media to celebrate Mother’s Day last season. Maria was likely quite proud seeing her son win the battle royal last year in front of tens of thousands of fans.

A new opportunity allowed Naomi to finally get a push after many years in the company. Naomi seized the moment to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship twice, including once in her hometown of Orlando at WrestleMania 33.

Various interviews last year saw Naomi talk about her dream of having her family in attendance to witness her as champion on the biggest stage. Naomi rehabbed from a scary injury to return in time for WrestleMania and regain the title. Her mother Grace McCray was at the show and in joy of seeing the great moment live. Naomi revealed on social media that her mom even attended Axxess to soak in the entire experience of the weekend.

John Cena has been the biggest star in WWE for about 13 years but has done a good job at keeping most of his personal life private. Aside from the love life with Nikki Bella showcased on Total Divas and Total Bellas, Cena rarely discusses his loved ones. Even the Total Divas episodes feature him rarely involved as Nikki has to spend her time with Brie and Bryan to film the content.

His father John Cena Sr. loves the attention from being the dad of a star and even takes independent wrestling bookings. However, John’s mom Carol Cena has remained distant from the spotlight. Carol never attended a WWE show until WrestleMania 33. The main reason for her attending was to see Cena propose to Nikki in the ring. John getting engaged was more important to her than any title win or main event match.

The path to WWE for Becky Lynch was tougher for her than most of her peers. While most aspiring wrestlers struggle on the independent scene before making it big, Lynch had to work various jobs in between her wrestling career. Becky did not receive enough bookings to make a full-time living wrestling in Ireland. It led to her seeking many unique jobs to pay the bills.

One of the more interesting jobs featured Lynch as a flight attendant to follow in her mother’s footsteps. The mother and daughter combination worked together on flights a few times, including Becky’s mother’s final flight before retirement. Lynch eventually left the job and received a shot at the WWE Performance Center. It was the break she needed to prove she was good enough to make it on the biggest stage.

The journey of Owens saw him struggle on the independent circuit for many years before finally breaking out as the ROH Champion. Kevin stated his mother would drive him to wrestling school on her way to work and often sacrificed to help him out. The swagger of Sasha Banks made her among the most impressive all-around performers in NXT. Banks had classic matches against Bayley and Becky Lynch to kick-start the women’s revolution that would become marketed on the main roster. If not for these matches, it is impossible to know if WWE would have ever turned the corner on giving the women’s division respect.

Many of his stunts such as flipping over an ambulance and hitting others with musical instruments have resulted in memorable segments. Momentum for Braun is growing in the wrestling industry.

The love of his family is a major passion for Strowman outside of the ring. Braun’s dad was a famous softball known for breaking many records, but his mother is also an important part of his life. The mother of Strowman has been referenced in interviews and social media posts as one of his biggest inspirations. Even the most intimidating looking wrestlers have a soft spot in their hearts for their mothers.

3 Vicki Askew (Vince McMahon's mom)

At 72 years old, most fans are shocked that Vince McMahon is still able to run WWE and keep up his busy schedule. The genetics of McMahon likely come from his mother’s side. It is often a shock to realize Vince’s mother is still alive and kicking today. Vicki Askew is McMahon’s mother and she is currently 97 years old.

Not only is Vicki alive, but she is rather active for someone her age. McMahon shared a post on social media stating his mother played tennis twice a week as recently as five years ago. It is hard to imagine her keeping this schedule up despite remaining in good shape. Chris Jericho revealed Vicki was backstage at a WWE show a year or two ago to celebrate Vince’s birthday.

2 Leonie Devitt (Finn Balor's mom)

Finn Balor has been one of the most successful WWE signings over the past decade. The move to sign Balor was a shocking move to see WWE recruit someone from New Japan. Balor got over enough to become the face of NXT during the period where the brand started to grow to a larger touring brand. Despite making his name in Japan and the United States, Balor is from Ireland where most of his family still resides.

The 2016 injury forced Balor to miss time in the ring, but he was able to fly back home and recover with his family. Balor’s mom Leonie Devitt helped him out a lot during a tough time in his career. WWE captured a video of Finn meeting his parents at the airport before SummerSlam 2016 and surprising them by showing them the front of Barclays Center with him as one of the wrestlers on the giant poster on the venue. Leonie was overjoyed at seeing how far her son has come.

Flair has been the face of the women’s revolution receiving huge opportunities to usher in a new era for the ladies in WWE. The company loves to reference the relationship between Charlotte and her legendary dad Ric Flair since the wrestling fan base adores him.

A big surprise to most is that Charlotte actually has a closer relationship to her mother Elizabeth Harrell. Ric being on the road for most of Charlotte’s childhood saw her develop a closer bond to her mom. It wasn’t until she entered the wrestling business that her relationship with Ric grew closer.
