The WWE is working on a DVD project for the late great Owen Hart and it's been rumored that they're planning to do more to honor the Black Hart.
As we know, Owen's widow Martha has stated that she doesn't support WWE's project and feels they should just let Owen rest in peace. In a statement to WrestlingDVDNews.com she said:
"My children and I were unaware of this project until May 7, when it was brought to our attention by a friend who had read about it online. Contrary to your report, we do not back or support it in any way, nor has WWE requested our backing or support. From what little we know of the project, it seems to be another attempt to exploit Owen's memory, and his tragic death, for commercial gain. We have resisted that kind of initiative for almost 16 years."
WWE is reportedly discussing inducting Owen into the Hall of Fame next year, but obviously that would not be supported by Martha Hart either. The WWE could still do it, as they would have an obvious candidate in Bret Hart to induct Owen. Many in the company feel though, that it's not worth the controversy if they don't have the support Owen's widow.
Like it or not, while we as fans want Owen to be honored for a great career, his widow has every right to feel the way she does and we'll have to accept whatever happens, in regards to a possible HOF induction.
