Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega’s match lived up to the billing as they pulled out every imaginable weapon in their unsanctioned bout.

What started as a fairly ordinary wrestling match quickly turned into a war of barbed wire, mousetraps and chains as Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley closed AEW’s Full Gear pay-per-view on Saturday night. The match might not have meant anything in the official record book, but Moxley maintained his status as a lunatic fringe and Omega showed another side of his personality as he took himself to a completely unimaginable level, went toe-to-toe with a maniac, and almost got the win. In the end, it was Moxley who prevailed in a match he feels at home in and will go down in history as one of the craziest matches of the year.

As the match came to the near-halfway point, Omega pulled out a bag of glass — meant to represent glass from the table Moxley put Omega through a few weeks ago. Moxley took a spine-buster, was dragged through it and eventually crawled through the glass to try and escape the hold. Omega then picked up pieces of glass into his hand and tied to cram it down Moxley’s throat and eventually sent Moxley outside the ring onto the entrance ramp.

Omega grabbed a screwdriver, followed Moxley out and up the ramp and scraped the tool across Moxley’s forehead before asking for something from the back. The Elite came out and asked Omega to stop, it didn’t work and a barbed wire spiderweb was wheeled out which both men ended up going through.

Staff had to help both men out of the web, and in clear pain, both men continued to battle, Omega eventually sending Moxley through a stage prop.

Both men made their way back to the ring where Moxley got a near fall, then proceeded to remove the banner from the side of the ring.  He exposed the sheets of wood that make up the ring. A series of moves on the pine boards saw Omega miss a Phoenix off the top rope, Moxley landed a DDT and won.
