Chris Jericho texted Vince McMahon an amazing alternative name for the women's WrestleMania battle royal but clearly the chairman didn't like it.

This Sunday the women of WWE will make history once again when they compete in a WrestleMania battle royal akin to the Andre the Giant version that the men have. Even though there has been a women's battle royal at WrestleMania before, this one will be a lot better, a lot more serious, and will hopefully not be won by a man dressed as a woman.

When first announced though the match was mired in controversy. WWE higher ups decided to name the match after the longest reigning Women's Champion of all time, The Fabulous Moolah. That generated a lot of backlash from fans due to the things that Moolah was alleged to have done away from the ring and her name was dropped from the match just a few days later.

Rather than replace Moolah's name with another female star from WWE's past, the name of the match was simply changed to the WrestleMania battle royal. Chris Jericho recently revealed on an episode of his podcast Talk Is Jericho that he texted Vince McMahon with the perfect alternate name, The Sensational Invitiational. Clearly Mr. McMahon wasn't impressed with the suggestion as apparently he simply replied 'thx'.

Jericho's terrific suggestion is of course a tip of the cap to the Sensational Sherri Martel. Also a former Women's Champion and a bonafide legend in not only WWE due to her work with Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels, but also for her work in the AWA, ECW and WCW among other promotions. It would have been a fitting and catchy name but clearly the chairman wasn't sold on it.

At the end of the day it doesn't really matter what the match is called and whatever happens it will still be another in a long line of milestones being made by the current female Superstars in WWE. Naming it after a legend that is no longer with us was a nice idea but that didn't work out and instead the match will all be about the women of today, plus any former Superstars that return for the match like they did at the Royal Rumble back in January.
