According to the "Nature Boy" himself, Ric Flair, Vince McMahon expressed interest in Shawn Michaels returning to the ring as a participant in this year's Royal Rumble match. Flair stated on his recent podcast:
"WWE want him so bad for Royal Rumble, but he ain't budging from that ranch down there in Texas."
"The Heartbreak Kid" performed in his final match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI and has vowed to remain retired. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Shawn Michaels shot down any idea of a return at the upcoming Royal Rumble.
Of course, any HBK fan would salivate at a return to action but such a situation will not occur. Shawn Michaels pops up from time-to-time and will likely make an appearance in some capacity at WrestleMania so enjoy those moments while they last.
With the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line this year, one can understand the need to pull out all the stops but Shawn Michaels has been a man of his word in regards to his retirement and will not appear in the Royal Rumble match.
Shawn Michaels is a two-time Royal Rumble winner and is considered by many to be the greatest Rumble performer in history; at this point any participation would come strictly as outside interference.
For instance: screwing over Roman Reigns on behalf of his buddy Triple H.
