In professional wrestling, ludicrous and crazy storylines are commonplace. However, when some stories cross a line, many fans reject it instantly. That line is often blurred, as sometimes a silly storyline is beloved (the Graveyard Match between The Undertaker and AJ Styles), and other times, fans hated it (the Swamp Fight between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman).

In WCW, when the storylines went over the line, it didn't just slip into silliness. It raced into ridiculous places. This is even more embarrassing when it happens on pay-per-view events. Here is a look at the 10 most ridiculous wrestling storylines in WCW history.

10 RoboCop Saves Sting

At WCW Capital Combat in 1990, the company promoted the then-upcoming Robocop 2 based on its relationship with Turner. That wasn't so bad, but things got really ridiculous when RoboCop joined the Road Warriors on the actual poster for the event.

In the PPV, Sting approached the Four Horsemen and was locked in a small cage. RoboCop then showed up and ripped the door off the cage to let Sting out. That was it. The only good thing is that Peter Weller himself portrayed RoboCop, making it a little legit.

9 Scott Hall's Alcoholism Becomes A Storyline

If there is one thing that both WWE and WCW did that is questionable at best, it's using a person's real-life addictions in its storylines. WWE did it with Hawk and is doing it now with Jeff Hardy. WCW was not innocent.

Scott Hall has a long and rough history with alcohol, and WCW used it in a storyline, having Hall come to the ring drunk where he would stumble around and throw up. It was embarrassing and knowing his real problems, it was unethical.

8 WCW World Champion David Arquette

David Arquette

As with RoboCop, WCW was helping promote another movie years later. In this case, it wasn't just a run-in by a movie character. It was the star of the movie, David Arquette, winning the WCW World Championship.

A title that had a fantastic lineage also has a non-wrestler as a champion, and even Arquette looked back on it and said that it was a mistake. If anything, at least Arquette took the chance to tell anyone who would listen than Booker T deserved a shot with the belt, which he finally got months later. The rest, as they say, is history.

7 The Ultimate Warrior Returns To Lose

One of the biggest storylines in WWE history was when Hulk Hogan fought The Ultimate Warrior, which was the first time he defended his title against a fellow babyface on the big stage. The event ended with the Intercontinental Champion Warrior beating Hogan for the world title and starting a new era in WWE.

Years later, Hollywood Hogan was the biggest heel in WCW, and he was running all over everyone. He commented on beating everyone put in front of him, and Warrior showed up. What started as a significant return ended up with overbooked storylines and was just meant to give Hogan his win back.

6 Judy Bagwell On A Forklift

If there is one thing that has become a joke when it comes to Vince Russo, it is that he put just about anything on a pole for wrestlers to climb and get. He even had a Viagra on a Pole match in WCW, which was a complete joke.

However, when it was a person on a pole (or a forklift in this case), it was somehow even more ridiculous. This was Chris Kanyon vs. Buff Bagwell, and it was Buff's mom Judy that was on the pole.

5 Ed Ferrara Mocks Jim Ross

Vince Russo had another bad habit. He had a mean streak and liked to make fun of people. He did it in WWE when he was working in the Attitude Era and poked fun at WCW. He did it again in WCW, and this time he aimed his sights at Jim Ross.

To this end, Russo got Ed Ferrera to dress up like Ross, call himself Oklahoma, and then told him to make fun of Ross's real-life Bell's Palsy (an uncontrollable condition that affects facial muscles and can cause facial paralysis) in the lowest moment of the storyline.

4 A Cattle Prod Ends Goldberg's Streak

WCW booked itself into a corner with Bill Goldberg. He was the biggest and best homegrown star in WCW history. He had a long winning streak, and WCW used that winning streak to help sell a huge Monday Nitro moment when Goldberg beat Hollywood Hogan for the WCW title.

Goldberg was now the WCW World Champion, and he was still undefeated. This meant that whoever won the title from him would end the streak. This could have made a new star, but WCW chose to go a different direction by having Kevin Nash end the streak by using a cattle prod.

3 The Finger Poke Of Doom

It was bad enough that Bill Goldberg's undefeated streak ended with Kevin Nash pinning him after using a cattle prod. But as embarrassing and terrible as that storyline was, things got even worse with the next one.

Nash and Hogan were no longer together, and the two agreed to fight for the title. Hogan then poked Nash in the chest, and the Fingerpoke of Doom beat Nash and helped start the downfall of WCW.

2 WCW Turns Mike Awesome Into A Joke

Mike Awesome in WCW

Mike Awesome was on top of the world of professional wrestling. He was the ECW World Champion and was the top guy in one of the most beloved promotions of all-time. As WCW loved to do, they signed Awesome just to hurt ECW. This was evident since they had no idea what to do with him.

They gave him two awful gimmicks: That '70s Guy and the Fat Chick Thrilla. As a result, Awesome went from a monster to a joke. The debate as to which character is worse rages on to this day.

1 Vince Russo Buries Hulk Hogan

Vince Russo — again — had a penchant for ridiculous wrestling storylines. Remember, at Bash at the Beach, Hulk Hogan joined the nWo and became the biggest star in wrestling even after many dismissed him for being past his prime. However, at Bash at the Beach 2000, he unceremoniously finished his WCW career and never returned.

Hogan was supposed to fight Jarrett in a world title match, but Jarrett laid down for Hogan. Then Russo came out and delivered a work/shoot promo, burying Hogan for being selfish, fired him, and then had Jarrett battle Booker T for the title instead.
