World Championship Wrestling didn't have much of a women's division, but it did feature some truly iconic female performers. WCW didn’t have as many matches for their women’s division, so many had to get over as managers or in non-physical storylines. That didn’t prevent WCW from having many talented female performers on the roster. Some names stood out above others when looking back at their impact.

The better performers made the most of their time to get over and prove their talent in WCW. Only a select group could say they were among the best female performers in the company’s history. Quite a few had success elsewhere while others only thrived in WCW. Find out which names still command respect today when comparing WCW legacies of the best women to work for the company.

10 Daffney

Daffney makes her entrance in WCW

WCW paired Daffney with David Flair and Crowbar early in her career since their gimmicks all worked well together. The odd squad of antihero faces got over for a short time. Daffney’s angle with David was the only time any of his WCW pushes worked out.

The short run for Daffney established her as an effective character. Unfortunately, she never had another run in other promotions since the creative team limited her potential. Daffney had a great enough run in WCW to warrant being remembered as an all-time great female performer for the company.

9 Major Gunns

One of the forgotten WCW women to have a huge push towards the end was Tylene Buck aka Major Gunns. Vince Russo wanted more eye candy related female characters on the show, leading to Major Gunns joining the Misfits in Action stable.

Major Gunns had short feuds with Stacy Keibler and Kimberly Page during her push. WCW made her the top female face for a few months since the other pushed women were working from the heel side of things.

8 Missy Hyatt

Missy Hyatt poses for WCW Magazine

Missy Hyatt was the top female talent in WCW during the early years as one of the few to have a consistent spot on the shows. WCW loved the character work, look, and overall charisma of Hyatt enough to push her.

The roles from managing to hosting to broadcasting saw Missy all over WCW television. Unfortunately, she was gone before the boom period where WCW and wrestling reached new peaks. Hyatt’s work isn’t as appreciated since it was watched by fewer fans.

7 Woman

Nancy Benoit aka Woman

Nancy Sullivan/Benoit aka Woman was one of the few women to receive a guaranteed contract in WCW as they expanded. The history of Woman in various promotions saw her thriving as a heel manager getting heat for her wrestlers.

WCW utilized her as part of Ric Flair’s entourage in the Four Horsemen. The real-life love triangle of Woman leaving Kevin Sullivan for Chris Benoit saw it become a compelling storyline on WCW TV. Woman had a very underrated WCW career looking back today.

6 Madusa

The athleticism of Madusa made her a rare in-ring superstar in the wrestling industry before women were given many opportunities. Madusa did well in WCW as part of the Dangerous Alliance faction until moving to WWE.

The infamous end to her WWE run saw her taking the Women’s Championship belt to WCW and throwing it in the trash. Madusa was unfortunately booked poorly after such an impactful debut, but she still did enough to become a WCW legend.

5 Sherri Martel

Sherri Martel with Harlem Heat

The incredible all-around work of Sherri Martel made her a valuable part of any wrestling promotion before female performers were as common. Martel could wrestle, cut promos, or manage effectively for any heel.

WCW signing Sensational Sherri away from WWE saw her working with top heel Ric Flair. Martel took a few bumps in Flair’s high-profile matches against names like Hulk Hogan and Sting. Harlem Heat also benefited immensely from having Sherri manage them for a few years.

4 Miss Elizabeth

Miss Elizabeth in the New World Order

WWE saw Miss Elizabeth become their most successful female performer before the era of divas started. Eric Bischoff’s desire to sign any major free agents saw Elizabeth returning to the wrestling world via WCW.

The bold booking saw her first major storyline playing into a prior WWE angle of Savage vs Ric Flair. This time saw a different ending of Elizabeth turning on Savage to join Flair. Elizabeth also had heel runs in the New World Order and later managed Lex Luger to continue her legendary managing career.

3 Torrie Wilson

The instant success for Torrie Wilson made her realize that she would make the wrestling business her long-term career path. Kevin Nash booked Torrie to be a part of a major storyline after meeting her through mutual friends.

Wilson was introduced by the New World Order to start her career off in an important manner. WCW pushed Torrie hard in various roles as one of the few ladies to receive consistent television time. Torrie did well enough to create momentum and get pushed when moving to WWE.

2 Kimberly Page

Kimberly Page Nitro Girl

Diamond Dallas Page introduced his wife to WCW when Kimberly Page started appearing at his valet. Kimberly struggled in an act with Ed Leslie’s Booty Man gimmick until she reunited with DDP during his feud with Randy Savage.

The popularity of Kimberly rose for her to get established on her own. Even the eventual split allowed Kimberly to do well on her own in the heel role. Kimberly left the wrestling business by her own choice due to the backstage heat with Scott Steiner or she could have had a long career in wrestling.

1 Stacy Keibler

Stacy Keibler in WCW

Few women of the Monday Night Wars era got over as easily as Stacy Keibler did in WCW. Keibler won a contest to become part of the Nitro Girls, but WCW realized she had way more potential being used as an actual on-screen character.

The appearances of Stacy interrupting matches to distract wrestlers by dancing on the commentary table led to her getting over huge. Keibler continued to grow as a manager in WCW’s final year and was a huge part of the Invasion for WWE. She became one of the most recognizable female faces of WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era.
