Just one year ago nobody would have ever imagined we would be having a brand new wrestling war breakout, with WWE taking on AEW head on each and every Wednesday starting in the Fall this year.

With AEW set to run a two-hour live show on TNT, and WWE offering up its incredibly popular, NXT brand on the USA Network for two-hours, live each and every week, the entire wrestling landscape is set to change for good.

Wednesday nights are set to become the most exciting for any wrestling fan, with both AEW and WWE going to battle in order to win over the audience, and within this article, we will rank five ways that each company could possibly get the upper hand.

10 NXT: Benefit Of Time

NXT has been the hottest brand in wrestling for the past couple of years, and Triple H has managed that with only one hour each and every week, which while it left people wanting more, it also made it hard to feature everyone.

Many top talents haven't had the time to showcase just how good they are, and now that NXT will have two-hours each and every week, the NXT creative team will have even more freedom to take the show to the next level.

Considering how well Triple H has done with limited time, it is going to be incredibly exciting to see what he will do with an extra hour every single week.

9 AEW: Using YouTube

WWE has always pushed its content hard on YouTube, growing a huge presence on the platform, but even though they have far more subscribers than the Being The Elite channel, AEW arguably has more influence.

The Young Bucks are incredibly creative and are able to push whatever messages they want, and there is no doubt that they have big plans for the YouTube series to really boost the TV show.

They have the chance to keep storylines developing and fans connected in a way unlike has ever been done before, which could really give them the edge of NXT.

8 NXT: The Full Sail Crowd

WWE confirmed that (at least for the start), NXT will be remaining in its Full Sail University, where the black and yellow brand has been taped ever since it began, which always provides a reliable crowd.

With WWE sticking with Full Sail they can guarantee certain things; they know the crowd will be sold out each show, and they know it will be a hit in terms of how hot the crowd will be, with the atmosphere at Full Sail always being fantastic.

Filming in a smaller, darker arena will give NXT a unique look on television that will help the show stand out in comparison to AEW, which is going to be presented more like what people are used to in Raw or SmackDown.

7 AEW: They Will Tour

To totally counter the previous point, whilst there is stability in being in one location every single episode, that in the end was a big factor in the reason why TNA never exploded to the level it could have.

Whilst AEW is certainly taking a risk by becoming a traveling promotion immediately, banking on the momentum of the company to sell out each and every time, which could backfire if they suddenly get very small attendances.

However, should AEW get the crowds they have secured for their first few shows, then it is going to look fantastic on television, especially in comparison to WWE's product that will be much smaller in production.

6 NXT: Keep Mauro Ranallo

This might not seem like a way of defeating AEW, but the fact is that Mauro Ranallo really is one of the best commentators in the entire fighting world right now, not just specific to WWE.

So far from what we have seen from AEW, the commentary has been a mess and has easily been one of the weakest elements of the company to date, however, this is an area where NXT absolutely shines through.

Mauro Ranallo is the key factor in that, with his distinct voice and pop culture references working to perfection. He could be a secret weapon for WWE in this coming war.

5 AEW: It's Not PG

Both AEW and NXT attract a similar audience, which is why WWE has moved the black and yellow brand to the USA Network in a bid to try and drag some of AEW's audience away from them.

However, there is one big difference between them, and that is the fact that AEW isn't working within the PG boundaries that NXT is, meaning that AEW can be a little riskier with its product.

Being edgier is how WWE won the original Monday Night Wars, and this could be the exact same way that AEW manages to get the upper hand in the brand new Wednesday Night Wars.

4 NXT: Utilising Established Talent

One major advantage that NXT has right out of the gate is the fact that a large audience is already well aware of who NXT's Superstars are, with people like Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole, and Shayna Baszler all being established names in wrestling.

While they might not be known by every wrestling fan, there is no doubt that a wider audience knows of established NXT talent over some of AEW's roster, who have only really appeared on the independent scene.

The fact that NXT already has a core fanbase who are well aware of who is a top tier talent and what everyone's characters are means that nobody needs to be worked on from the ground up, which AEW needs to do with its whole roster.

3 AEW: Tag Team Focus

While NXT does give its tag team division a good amount of air time to develop storylines, with many incredible teams having been showcased on the black and yellow brand, it is very rarely considered to be the main event of the show.

That is something that AEW has guaranteed to do and it could really be the difference-maker in helping establish the company as the number one place for tag team wrestling in the entire world.

When tag team wrestling is done correctly there are very few things more exciting in the sport, which is why the company is placing a large investment into its division.

2 NXT: Add Main Roster Appearances

The one ace that WWE has up its sleeve is the simple fact that it has been established for a lot longer, and therefore has wrestlers who are considered legends who will attract a major audience simply by announcing that they will be appearing.

This upcoming switch for NXT really does confirm the fact that it is the third brand in WWE, not a developmental product, so what if WWE starts bringing out main roster talent on a regular basis?

No matter how good AEW might be, they will struggle to compete if Vince McMahon decides to bring out The Undertaker or John Cena for an episode of NXT to pop a rating, which is something that could easily take place, as WWE has the power and the roster to make it happen.

1 AEW: World Class Wrestling

Of course, fantastic in-ring competition is the way both NXT and AEW have been built up, with fans watching knowing that they are going to see some incredible wrestling matches at some point.

Both shows will continue to have wrestling as the main focal point of the product, but NXT has got a WWE's limit, meaning that the AEW talents should be able to bust out a little more adventurous wrestling matches.

On top of that, NXT does also rely a lot upon promos, and while that might not be a bad thing for many people, AEW is certainly going to be pushed as a real sports-based show, which will help set it apart.
