Let the fun begin for Cody Rhodes post WWE career. According to WrestlingNewsSource.com, Cody Rhodes will be locking up with The Olympic Gold Medalist himself, Kurt Angle, in their first ever matchup. Angle departed WWE shortly before Rhodes debut and becomes the first man to be checked off of Rhodes’ wish list he released on Twitter last week.
The match will take place at the ‘Wrestling Under The Stars’ event for Northeast Wrestling on August 27th, which is famous for getting some of the best first time indy matches of the last few years, such as Kevin Owens vs Jerry Lawler, in what would be Owens’ final independent appearance.
Rhodes immediately starting with an opponent like Kurt Angle should signal what is to come from. Look for Cody to light the outside of WWE on fire over the next 12 months, as he looks to be a man with something to prove to everyone.
Also set to do battle the same night is New Japan’s Jushin Thunder Liger, as he battles Jeff Hardy in what should be a sight to see.
