While the WWE Universe and the wrestling world is buzzing about the idea of WWE turning Roman Reigns heel, or better yet, not doing so, there's still one lingering question that needs to be answered. What happens if Roman Reigns never actually defeats Brock Lesnar?

With few challengers to Lesnar's Universal Title and Reigns seemingly not working toward a program with the Beast Incarnate, what does this mean for Reigns' legacy? He was supposed to be the Big Dog who ran the yard and after losing in consecutive matches to a part-time performer, is he really worthy of that title? The concern now is that WWE has Reigns at a crossroads. He was "the man" and now he's just "a man" unable to beat a foe he's been wrestling against for months.

Here are a few things that could happen if WWE doesn't actually book Roman Reigns to take the title off of Brock Lesnar.

If Lesnar doesn't lose the Universal Title to Reigns, there's not a lot of performers Vince McMahon might deem worthy of taking it from him. Lesnar has an aura that he's indestructible. Even as a part-time performer, WWE puts a lot of stock into making him look strong and there may be only one or two names on the current roster WWE might build up as able to go toe-to-toe with The Beast Incarnate, and outside of Braun Strowman, it would take time to bring that person up to Lesnar's level.

In that time, Lesnar would stay champion, shatter records for the longest reign as a title holder and all while sitting at home since his new contract doesn't favor bringing him onto WWE programming as often. This scenario is awful for the respectability of the Universal Title.

Reigns Becomes Just "Another Guy"

via sportskeeda.com

One thing that Reigns had going for him is that he was able to beat big names others couldn't beat. From The Undertaker to John Cena to Braun Strowman, he was able to take them all down and defeat them on his way up the ladder and in an attempt to position himself as one of the top guys, if not the top guy. If he can't beat Lesnar, what does that make him?

This would be the first hurdle Reigns can't jump. In the eyes of the fans, he's no longer "special" and that hurts his character long term. If this is true, it also signifies WWE has given up on him in a manner of speaking. All that time and effort to take him to the top doesn't mean anything if he never actually reaches that pedestal.

Make Way For Seth Rollins

via wwe.com

If Reigns it out of the picture, make way for Seth Rollins. He's the current Intercontinental Champion but that might be short-lived if WWE sees him as the guy who can take Reigns' spot and have the fans enjoy him doing so.

Rollins is a much strong in-ring worker than Reigns and the story of Rollins defeating Lesnar is much more David vs. Goliath which is a story that works. If Reigns doesn't get that win, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out WWE has plans for someone else and there are rumblings WWE sees Rollins as the next in line.

Reigns Heel Turn

Fans have been talking about it for a while and it appears WWE is ignoring the idea but if Reigns doesn't win and Rollins is set to replace him, what does that mean for Roman? A heel turn seems to be the only logical option and it will be interesting to see if WWE goes in that direction and if Reigns targets Rollins out of frustration.

Rollins is the perfect person for Reigns to challenge should WWE choose to purposely get him booed. If that's the case, WWE fans will quickly forget Reigns didn't beat Lesnar and that's not a bad thing for WWE either.
