Update On Where Rusev Has Been During WWE Hiatus

Rusev has rarely been seen on television over the past five or so months, and it's led to speculation about his possible departure from WWE.

The Bulgarian Brute has revealed numerous changes to his looks, suggesting that WWE could be repackaging his character entirely. But despite these new looks, there's no indication of when and if Rusev will return.

Well, we at least know what Rusev has been up to during his hiatus from WWE. Somebody posted a photo of a group taking acting classes together (h/t Ringside News), and Rusev was seen in it. It was noted that they've been doing practicing acting for 18 hours per week.

With Rusev taking acting classes, it suggests that he's also working on rebuilding his wrestling character a bit. His microphone skills haven't been terrible, but Lana has done most of the talking for him.

Acting classes will certainly go a long way in helping him enhance his persona more, but we don't know for sure if he's doing this for the sake of helping his wrestling character. At any rate, it's nice to finally have an update on the former United States Champion, because his WWE hiatus was never fully explained.

Rusev and Lana both face uncertain futures in WWE, and Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said several weeks ago that he wouldn't be surprised if The Bulgarian Brute landed with AEW or New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Meltzer believes that both promotions "would want" to add him.

Lana and her husband have been vocal about their frustrations in WWE, and since he's been on a break for several months, it's only ramping up speculation that the two will eventually leave the company. We'll just have to wait and see what will happen in the coming weeks for these two.

What Does The Future Hold For Rusev?

Despite strong merchandise sales in 2018 - along with soaring popularity - Rusev never got a main event push in WWE. Time is running out for the company to show Rusev that they'll give him that opportunity, and if it doesn't happen soon, there's good reason to believe that him and Lana will leave for another major promotion like NJPW or AEW.
