Conflicting Stories Surface About Why NXT's Iconic Duo Have Been Off TV

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce have been off of NXT television for a while and quite a few fans are wondering when we will next see the Iconic Duo.

The first-ever women's Royal Rumble match this past Sunday saw a real blend of Superstars from different eras and different rosters. We witnessed wrestlers that we never thought we would see in a ring together such as Trish Stratus and Bayley, and Sasha Banks and Lita. There may not have been as many NXT Superstars in the match as people were expecting though.

In fact, there were just two of them. Current NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon made an appearance and so did Mae Young Classic winner Kairi Sane. It feels like it would have made sense for NXT's Iconic Duo to appear in the match, the Aussie pairing of Peyton Royce and Billie Kay. That didn't happen though of course.

In fact, neither Royce nor Kay has wrestled on any form of WWE television so far this year. The last time we saw either one of them in the ring was when Royce lost a match to Moon on Nov. 29, 2017. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer fans of the two of them have nothing to worry about though. Apparently, it is simply a case of the creative team at NXT having nothing for them right now.

Casey Michael of Squared Circle Sirens disagrees with Meltzer however. Michael tweeted Meltzer has no sources at NXT so couldn't possibly know what the situation is with Kay and Royce. It does seem like a strange situation though. If there is nothing more for them, then surely, it's time for them to go to the main roster. As members of one of the female factions that were recently formed or as participants in the Royal Rumble would have both been perfect starting points.

Those two opportunities have passed now though so WWE's creative will have to figure out another way to introduce the two of them on to either Raw or SmackDown Live. At this point, if there aren't plans to make one of them NXT Women's Champion and then have the other one chase, the only logical thing to do is keep them together and introduce them to the rest of the WWE Universe.
