Rusev's storyline feud with Bobby Lashley and real-life wife Lana has been ongoing for almost two months now, but the next chapter of their rivalry will not be taking place at Survivor Series.
According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Ringside News), WWE views Survivor Series as "overloaded" this year. The show is already overbooked with so many matches on the card, so the decision is being made not to add Lashley vs. Rusev.
There are six confirmed matches for the show, but Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan is expected to be added to the card as well. That will make it seven, and two of them are 5-on-5 Elimination Tag matches - and those bouts tend to take up plenty of time.
Aside from those matches, we will also see Brock Lesnar defend his Universal Championship against Rey Mysterio, while Becky Lynch, Bayley and Shayna Baszler will square off in a triple threat all-champion match.
Another champion vs. champion vs. champion match will see AJ Styles, Roderick Strong and Shinsuke Nakamura all square off. And finally, The Viking Raiders will meet New Day and The Undisputed Era in a triple threat tag team bout.
Though the angle has received plenty of criticism, it's helped grow Rusev's popularity among the WWE Universe. All of this might convince him to stick around with the company long-term.
Rusev & Lashley Feud Will Keep Going
Vince McMahon is apparently thrilled with the high YouTube numbers for the whole Rusev-Lashley-Lana angle here, so there's plenty of reason to believe that he's going to keep it going for a while longer. And the TLC pay-per-view isn't far away, so that marks a perfect time for the two superstars to continue their rivalry.
