An issue in the WWE with the popularity of social media, is that wrestlers are using it as a platform to air their grievances. WWE is not a fan of this practice but there's a theory behind the reason stars are using platforms like Twitter to request releases.

In recent days, there's been some back-and-forth between the company and certain Superstars who have asked for their releases. In the last year, names like Mike and Maria Kanellis, Luke Harper, Jordan Myles, Sin Cara and others have taken to Twitter and Instagram to try and end their contracts in WWE.

Just a couple of days ago, Triple H broached the subject of wrestlers doing so and said going to the media or Twitter is not the appropriate way to air grievances in regards to wrestlers posting statements saying they've asked for their release. "Pick up the phone," he said. He added that these wrestlers need to act more professionally.

His point makes sense but there's a theory as to why people are pushing back a bit.

One wrestler rumored to have asked for his released, Oney Lorcan, took to Twitter right after Triple H made the comments and wrote:

THE MATURE PROFESSIONAL THING TO SAY WOULD BE NO COMMENT AND HAVE A PRIVATE CONVERSATION PROMOTER TO INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR INSTEAD OF BURYING TALENT PUBLICLY TO THE MEDIA THATS HOW I DO BUSINESS ITS ALL ABOUT THE GAME AND HOW YOU PLAY IT

The feeling going around is that wrestlers are approaching WWE about terminating their deals and being told 'no'. That's the little part Triple H left out, or, that requests may not be getting as far up the chain of command so that he even is made aware.

WWE is not in the habit of releasing stars right now, so as much as Triple H is saying one thing and WWE is doing another, wrestlers will continue to use social media as an attempt to stir the pot, and potentially get themselves fired. If nothing else, posting these type of grievances are hard for Triple H to ignore. If he wasn't told, this is one of the few avenues independent contractors have to make him aware.

Sometimes It Works

One wrestler who went about this is rumored to be Jordan Myles. Long-term, his willingness to go to social media and call WWE racist and go on verbal tirades may not work out because while he seems to believe what he's saying is true, reports are companies like AEW want nothing to do with him now. That said, he's out of WWE, having been granted his release.

And, that Lorcan was so quick to fire back at Triple H, seemingly ignoring his suggestion tells you that wrestlers want to be heard. That may outweigh the notion to "do the professional thing."
