Will They Last? 8 Wrestling Couples Who Will (And 7 Who Won't)

Couples within professional wrestling are extremely common, mainly because these guys and girls spend more than 250 days of the year on the road together. That, in itself, is an incredible amount of time to be away from a loved one – which makes it all the less surprising that so many superstars end up getting together.

But the real question doesn’t lie within whether or not it’ll happen: it’s whether or not it’ll last. For years now there have been backstage flings and interactions that haven’t even lasted two months, and because of that, it’s hard to tell where the legitimate relationships begin and end.

Of course, this list is purely speculation on our part and whilst we may be coming across as a trashy magazine right now more so than a wrestling site, this is the kind of content that our generation of fans tend to pine for. As odd as that may be, we can sort of understand given that these figures are icons in many regards to people from all around the world.

So with all of that in mind, it's time to delve into the bizarre landscape of wrestling dating.

15 Magnus & Mickie James – WILL

Magnus and Mickie James always tend to go under the radar as one of the better wrestling couples in existence right now – at least, in our minds. The two got together during their time in TNA with both being extremely successful since then, as Magnus continues to branch out into other ventures meanwhile Mickie enjoys yet another run at the top in WWE.

Still, the age-old question remains as to whether or not we think they’ll stay together, and the answer is yes. The two seem to be extremely besotted with one another even after all these years, and the fact that they have a child now signifies that their relationship has indeed been taken to the next level. We could always be wrong, but they seem fairly rock solid.

14 John Cena & Nikki Bella – WON’T

A post shared by Nikki Bella (@thenikkibella) on

John Cena and Nikki Bella seem to create a divide in pretty much everything they do, with some fans loving their connection with others hating it. For example, the proposal at WrestleMania 33: we absolutely loved the execution of it, but others in attendance didn’t seem to appreciate that the grandest stage of them all was being clogged up with Total Bellas storylines.

Still, despite our appreciations, we believe that they won’t end up lasting together as a couple. We don’t necessarily agree with The Miz and Maryse (who ironically aren’t on this list, because we’re certain they’ll remain together) who claim that their relationship is manufactured, but we do believe the pressure of not wanting to have a child with Nikki will prove to be too much somewhere down the line.

13 Daniel Bryan & Brie Bella – WILL

If you’ve seen Total Divas and/or Bellas, you’ll likely agree with us that Brie Bella probably doesn’t deserve Daniel Bryan. Hell, nobody does. Despite that, they seem to be one of the happier couples in the wrestling world, as they continue to enjoy what will likely be a brief retirement phase as they both hint at returns to the ring.

With Birdie now infecting their lives with her cuteness it’s hard to imagine this duo going their separate ways, and even though reality TV isn’t always accurate, you can just feel the connection that these two have with one another and it really is something special. Obviously, there’s no guarantee here, but we’d safely bet our mortgage on it if the situation came to be.

12 Alberto Del Rio & Paige – WON’T

This may seem like a fairly obvious one, but in our minds, the situation is much more layered than we could possibly imagine. First off, it’s fairly evident to everyone involved that Alberto Del Rio isn’t a very nice bloke. In fact, he seems to be one of the most detestable personalities in all of pro wrestling, but that’s another rant for another day.

In terms of this particular relationship, we can’t help but feel like Paige is going to hang onto it for as long as she possibly can, which is both admirable and a little bit sad. Still, once her full-time return to the ring is confirmed she will probably start to see the light – realising that there’s much more to life than spending it with a washed-up former world champion.

11 Johnny Gargano & Candice LeRae – WILL

If there’s an award out there for the most adorable couple in this industry, then these two should have it wrapped up by a comfortable margin. Gargano & LeRae have come into the limelight within the last few months courtesy of both NXT and the Mae Young Classic, and given how cute they are together, we couldn’t be happier.

Their love continues to blossom and the married couple is in the prime of both their lives and their careers, making them one of the strongest entries on this list. Johnny and Candice still appear to be in that honeymoon period that is so often spoken of when it couples to newlyweds, and with all of the negativity in the world right now we could use a success story like theirs.

10 Tyson Kidd & Natalya – WON’T

Night, Grand Rapids! 💕 #SDLive

A post shared by natbynature (@natbynature) on

Look, there’s a chance that we’re basing too much of this off of Total Divas, but we don’t have much to go off of here. On one hand you’ve got Tyson Kidd who is likely disgruntled about not being able to perform in the ring anymore, and on the other hand, you’ve got Natalya – arguably the craziest and most annoying woman in all of WWE.

It’s clear that they’ve had friction in the past and the fact that Kidd requested not to be featured on Total Divas anymore should tell you all that you need to know. As Nattie continues to thrive on SmackDown Live we have to wonder what this division is doing to their relationship, and if it isn’t fixed soon then we predict a gruesome break up in the not so distant future.

9 Mike Bennett & Maria Kanellis – WILL

Aside from their poor start to life on the main roster, it almost seems like a guarantee to us that Bennett and Kanellis will remain together for the rest of their days on this earth. After all, there’s an argument to be made that they are the single most effective (and attractive) couple on any weekly product right now.

Plus, and this is our serious point, Maria has continued to stay by Mike’s side through his recent drug problems and that is the sign of an unbreakable bond. These two have seemingly been through everything together and because of that, their strength will only continue to shine through both on television and off of it. Bravo, guys, we salute your continued resilience and determination in life.

8 Aaron Solow & Bayley – WON’T

Tonight was cool. New York is cool. #WWExIGN

A post shared by Aaron Solow (@aaron_solow) on

Some of you may not know the name Aaron Solow, and that’s because he’s only recently come into the public eye. The independent superstar has been with WWE fan favourite Bayley for a while now, and the two seem to be happier than ever, but we have to question how long that’ll last within the current landscape of the company.

After all, Bayley is gone for the majority of the year and it’s not like Aaron can go with her to every single show. That kind of divide, as we said at the top, is going to cause a great deal of stress and can really test a relationship to its very core. We wouldn’t tip them to survive given their situation, but don’t get things twisted, we hope we’re wrong.

7 Cody Rhodes & Brandi Rhodes – WILL

If you’re looking for couple goals, then look no further than Cody & Brandi Rhodes. These two are the symbol of everything that a wrestling relationship should be, as their star continues to rise more so than it ever did with World Wrestling Entertainment. They’re smart, sexy, and over in Ring of Honor, they’re taking the wrestling world by storm.

Cody, especially, is leading something of a revolution and the flexible schedule that he has undertaken seems to be doing wonders for his connection to Brandi. The two are often seen on many outings with one another, and the best part is that they seem to genuinely love each other’s company. Oh, and this may seem insignificant, but their dog is utterly remarkable in every single way.

6 Big Cass & Carmella – WON’T

The Princess of Staten Island is doing ten times better than anyone could’ve imagined over on SmackDown Live, and that’s a testament to just how far she’s come since valeting for the man she would eventually enter into a relationship with: Big Cass. Unfortunately, things aren’t going quite as swimmingly for the seven-footer on Monday Night Raw.

Being separated in the brand split is enough to cause some upset at the best of times, but at the worst, this injury could make things even more difficult. We’re sure they still spend acres of time together but considering how quickly they jumped into this relationship, we wonder whether or not they’ll drift apart in the months and potentially years to come.

Sorry, but, you can’t teach that.

5 Matt Hardy & Reby Sky – WILL

#HouseHardy took OVAH the REALM known as Citi Field yesterday.

A post shared by #WOKEN Matt Hardy (@matthardybrand) on

It’s fair to suggest that Matt Hardy and Reby Sky have been through some rough patches over the years, but the true sign of an unbreakable couple is how they bounce back from adversity. In their case, they seem to be as strong as anyone could’ve hoped with Matt entering the twilight of his career with the WWE.

Reby may come across as a loudmouth on Twitter but in terms of these two as a duo, it appears as if the good times are still at large. Once again, the scheduling issues are something that will have been contended with, and it’s not like Matt is going to be on the road forever given his age. His run won’t last for too much longer, and when it concludes these two will get stronger and stronger with each passing day.

4 Rusev & Lana – WON’T

❤️💙 Japanese food !!!!! 😍 What is your favorite type of food ???

A post shared by CJ Perry (@thelanawwe) on

Boy oh boy, does Lana seem like a lot of work. If Total Divas is anything to go by, and we apologise for bringing it up again, then these two will have some extremely interesting situations to deal within the next few years. Yes, we know that a lot of it is scripted, but you can’t script that kind of raw emotion and you can’t alter someone’s personality entirely.

The two are clearly legit when it comes to being in love with one another, but how far will that take them? The frustrations appear to have been brewing for quite some time and Rusev always did feel like someone who was more of a lone wolf, despite how happy the WWE would like you to believe they are.

3 Jimmy Uso & Naomi – WILL

What a couple. Honestly, it may sound a little bit sickening, but these two are perfect for each other. They seem to be a duo who were destined to spend the rest of their lives with one another from the get-go, and they’re as enjoyable to watch as anyone else in the public eye right now. Sure, there are probably problems from time to time, but every relationship experiences that.

These two are major players on SmackDown Live right now and their careers are right where they want them to be, which can only mean great things for their personal life. In the years to come, we’ll probably start to see them winding down ever so slightly, which could open the door for them to start a family together.

2 Sarath Ton & Sasha Banks – WON’T

As a professional wrestler-turned costume designer, Sarath Ton has certainly led an interesting career up to this point. It probably doesn’t help, then, that his wife is one of the most successful female wrestlers of recent times in the form of Sasha Banks. The woman is on fire right now and whilst they do get to work together, they are still extremely young.

We aren’t suggesting that one of them will stray away but you never know what can happen on the road, especially when your stock is as high as Sasha’s. They seem to keep their relationship out of the spotlight for the most part which is certainly a good thing, but younger superstars often tend to drift apart from time to time and that’s always a possibility.

1 Dean Ambrose & Renee Young – WILL

Given that they live in Las Vegas, it’s not hard to imagine that Dean Ambrose and Renee Young like to enjoy the wild side of life more so than other couples we’ve spoken about. Of course, that’s all speculation, but one way or another you can’t deny that these two are arguably one of the best-suited duos in all of wrestling based off of their personalities.

They seem to bounce off each other seamlessly in almost every way imaginable, and that can help couples through a lot of tough times. Sure, Dean is probably a loose cannon at times, but someone like Renee would easily be able to bring him back down to reality. At least, in our minds.

So we can probably expect a few mini-Lunatic Fringes running around one day.
