WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, Survivor Series, they are all iconic names for PPVs that are always remembered and have fans excited each and every time, however, not every wrestling PPV has managed to be given such a great name.

PPV names are often named after what is happening at the event, from Hell in a Cell to TLC, or they are given menacing names that feel like a wrestling show such as Halloween Havoc, or Starrcade, but that isn't always the case.

Whether it is done intentionally for humor or if those in charge really think that the poor names they have created are great, over the years there have been some dreadful PPV names, and within this article, we shall rank the very worst.

10 Capitol Punishment

Let's start as we mean to go on with a PPV that WWE named, very much with politics in mind, because wrestling and politics have always gone hand in hand, haven't they...

For some reason, WWE decided to have all of its marketing for this show be based around Barack Obama, using him on the posters and even having a look-a-like appear at the event, yet Obama himself was never involved.

To make it worse, the show was headlined by R-Truth and John Cena in a very random main event that seemed fitting of such a poorly named show that never happened again.

9 Bragging Rights

The years between 2009-2011 were really quite poor for WWE PPV names, with the company deciding to bring in lots of new shows, none of which lasted very long because they were poor concepts.

WWE threw out lots of concept matches and PPVs thinking that is what people wanted to see, but that really wasn't the case, as Bragging Rights proved, with Raw and SmackDown battling it out on the PPV for, well, Bragging Rights.

The issue was that nobody cared enough about the brand rivalry and the idea of bragging rights about winning a few matches just made very little sense.

8 WCW: Hog Wild

Taking a step away from WWE's poorly named shows, it isn't just Vince McMahon's company who has created some horrendous names in the past, as WCW was also a culprit of some poor names.

Hog Wild is a perfect example of a PPV name that really was a disaster, but it was an example of Eric Bischoff trying something different, with the idea to have it at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

The event itself was free which no doubt made it seem like a better idea than it was, but the name was still terrible, with WCW having to drop it just a year later due to a trademark problem.

7 In Your House: Great White North

There was certainly nothing wrong with the In Your House name that was created for regular PPV events, it made sense, it connected with the audience and it became a brand all on its own.

The fourth edition of the event took place in Canada and so they clearly thought they wanted to get a name in that featured the country as a nod to the fans who were going to be in the arena that night.

Because Canada has been nicknamed the Great White North, simply adding that to the show's title, yet Bret Hart wasn't even put on the card.

6 The Bash

It is pretty obvious where WWE got the idea to name this event, with some marketing genius clearly thinking that the word 'Bash' would make people think of punches or something like that.

In reality, WWE would have been better sticking with the original, The Great American Bash, a name that they had used previously as it actually sounded cool and unique, offering a little more punch.

Simply having The Bash just made the entire thing sound hokey and comical, with the name not exactly feeling like it would fit a major wrestling match or moment.

5 In Your House: Beware Of Dog

Back to the In Your House series, which still wasn't a poor one, and this time the Beware Of Dog instalment, which was another very bad name that the company decided to tag along.

The reason for the Beware Of Dog tagline was because The British Bulldog was challenging Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship on the show, which seemed fair enough, despite the name being a little strange.

However, despite the fact that WWE put all of its efforts into naming the show about The British Bulldog, their match wasn't even in the main event slot, instead, being put in the middle of the card.

4 The Greatest Royal Rumble

Sometimes, things just do not need anything added to it, yet WWE decided to do just that with the Greatest Royal Rumble, which was the start of WWE's controversial relationship with Saudi Arabia.

Instead of WWE just adding to the Royal Rumble, the company decided to put on a second Rumble show in the same year, taking away from the legacy of the classic event with nothing on the line but a pointless title.

WWE could easily have just given this show a different name instead of trying to tarnish the legacy of the Rumble, for what certainly was not the greatest Royal Rumble.

3 Fatal 4-Way

This is a shocking name for a shocking PPV, with the one and done show being truly dreadful. Whilst naming a PPV after the matches on the show isn't uncommon, they are normally reserved for major stipulations like Elimination Chamber.

However, naming a PPV Fatal 4-Way really was taking things to the next level of ridiculousness, as nobody was ever asking for a show where a basic Fatal 4-Way all of a sudden became the focal point of things.

Whilst the match type is fine, having a PPV named after it which dictates that there needs to be one is a little pointless, and it really was a poorly named event.

2 Tables, Ladders, And Chairs (And Stairs)

Tables, Ladders, and Chairs is a PPV that WWE has been rolling out for many years now, and whilst it isn't the most inventive or creative name, it certainly isn't a bad name by any stretch.

The show has become a reliable one that can be expected on the WWE calendar every single year, however, when WWE decided to alter it in 2014, it quickly became ridiculous with the company taking things too far.

Because WWE decided to have a stairs match (another bad decision), between Big Show and Erick Rowan, the company threw the tagline of "and stairs" onto the end of it, which just made it seem like a big joke.

1 Great Balls Of Fire

Does anything else really need to be said about Great Balls Of Fire that hasn't already been said or written about in the past? When it comes to terrible wrestling PPV names it really doesn't get any worse than this.

Even though WWE gave us Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe on this event, a mega-fight between two monsters, nothing could save this PPV, especially with a logo just as bad as the name.

All that we can hope now is that no wrestling company ever creates something quite as horrible as this in the future, for the sake of all wrestling fans who continue to defend the sport.
