WrestleMania 28 was a huge event for WWE, which saw the 'Once In A Lifetime' match between The Rock and John Cena take place. A true dream match in the eyes of many, this was the show that first brought them together as opponents inside the ring, and WWE put together a great card around it as well.

While this 'Mania isn't talked about quite as often as some of the others from around this time, the show had some great matches. Of course, not everything on the card was perfect and there were some forgettable bouts as well, but out of the entire card, what match was the strongest?

9 Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan (World Heavyweight Championship Match)

Sheamus v Daniel Bryan

It's hard to really call this a match, as this one only lasted 18 seconds. While at the time fans were disappointed, it did lead to the Yes Movement being born, which proved to be a turning point for Daniel Bryan's career.

However, as far as opening WrestleMania matches go, this was a poor one. It was all about Bryan getting caught out as he turned around from kissing AJ Lee to be nailed with a Brogue Kick, which ended the match immediately, leaving audiences stunned.

Matches that get placed onto the pre-shows of WWE PPVs are typically given plenty of time to at least create an exciting match. However, this was given just over five minutes and it felt like a total sprint because of it.

With three teams involved there had to be plenty of quick tags to get everyone a moment, and overall this one just felt like it was far too rushed.

7 Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes (Intercontinental Championship Match)

The Intercontinental Championship might be seen as the workhorse title, but that wasn't the case with this match, which only got five minutes to work with. The match was simply too short to ever get to any levels of entertainment, and instead, it felt like a generic Raw bout, which is a shame.

Cody Rhodes attempted to work the leg of the bigger man and that was the story, which could have been entertaining had it lasted a little longer. However, Big Show quickly won the match with KO Punch which is a shame, as an extra five minutes would have made it a stronger match.

6 Maria Menounos & Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix & Eve

Whenever a celebrity gets involved in a WrestleMania match, there's always the chance that the quality of the bout is going to be weaker. That was the case here, although Maria Menounos certainly gave her all in this one and it was obvious she tried hard to make it entertaining.

The women didn't get that much time to tell their story, which stopped this from ever being a classic. However, they worked hard with the time given and it made for an entertaining undercard match.

5 Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy

There were a lot of moving parts in this particular match with each team having six participants as well as extra people on the outside. It was a chaotic match, which was to be expected purely down to what was going on.

Some elements of the match were good, with Kofi Kingston and Dolph Ziggler both impressing during the match. However, it felt like a moment to just put as many people onto the card, which didn't create the strongest match possible.

4 Kane vs. Randy Orton

Orton v Kane WM 28

This match saw two WWE veterans come together in a bout that allowed them to tell a simple story. Each man had plenty of experience at this stage in their careers, which allowed for a good match that went back and forth throughout.

It was quite a slow match, which isn't a surprise as both men work methodical styles. However, everything was smooth with some nice reversals as Kane was able to dominate as the big man, with Randy Orton continuing to fight back against him.

3 The Rock vs. John Cena

This was the main event match and brought together two of the biggest names of all time together. Out of the two 'Mania matches they had this was the strongest and saw them both bring their best, which created a tremendous atmosphere for the night.

It was two powerhouse wrestlers who both brought their usual repertoire of moves, and it combined nicely with the red hot crowd for an exciting encounter. It wasn't stuffed with finishers but featured some great reversals and nice near falls which made this a strong 'Mania encounter.

2 Chris Jericho vs. CM Punk (WWE Championship Match)

WM 28 Jericho v Punk

Considering the talent of the two men involved, it's no surprise this was a great match. While they would actually go on to have better encounters than this one, Chris Jericho and CM Punk worked well together going back and forth in a technical encounter.

Both men got the chance to impress within the match, showcasing what they're capable of with reversals and some nice highflying moves as well. It was clearly two wrestlers who wanted to prove they were the best, and that led to a great match.

1 Triple H vs. The Undertaker (Hell In A Cell Match)

This match was a masterclass of storytelling and emotion, with the two WWE legends putting together an amazing rollercoaster of emotions within the match. With Shawn Michaels as special guest referee and the added atmosphere of the Hell in a Cell stipulation, this was a perfect WrestleMania moment.

The two men had a physical encounter together which was entertaining, but with HBK adding some great facial expressions it really told the story. The near falls in this one were fantastic, with fans really buying into the idea that Triple H could end the streak, which made the match even greater.
