WWE returned to Camping World Stadium for WrestleMania 33 in 2017, nine years after it hosted WrestleMania XXIV then known as the Citrus Bowl. The card was jam-packed and stacked from top to bottom.

The Universal Championship, SmackDown Women's Title, and the new Cruiserweight Championship were defended at WrestleMania for the first time. Furthermore, marquee names including The Undertaker, Triple H, Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, and Chris Jericho all competed on the same WrestleMania card for the first time since WrestleMania XX. Let's revisit and see how the two World Title matches faired amongst other big-money matches.

13 Alexa Bliss Vs. Naomi Vs. Mickie James Vs. Natalya Vs. Carmella Vs. Becky Lynch

WM 33

Alexa Bliss had the honor of being the first woman to defend the SmackDown Women's Championship at WrestleMania. She put the title on the line in a six-pack challenge against hometown favorite Naomi, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Mickie James, and Carmella.

However, they were a filler just before the main event, and their entrances were rushed. The whole match was clunky as they did not get enough time to tell a meaningful story. Nevertheless, this match was designed for Naomi to regain the SmackDown Women's Title in front of her hometown fans, after she relinquished the title due to injury months prior.

12 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

The fourth edition of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal took place on the pre-show. Many fans were still making their way into Camping World Stadium so they missed the majority of the match.

NFL star Rob Gronkowski was at ringside, and Jinder Mahal went over to him to provoke him. Nonetheless, Gronk entered the ring and attacked Mahal. This allowed Mojo Rawley to win the match, which should have elevated him up the card but it didn't.

11 Bray Wyatt Vs. Randy Orton

Bray v Orton

Bray Wyatt defended the WWE Championship against 2017 Royal Rumble winner Randy Orton. This should have been an exhilarating match but it was an underwhelming contest between two solid workers.

The ring changing with visuals of different insects to play mind games with Orton failed to work. The Viper kickstarted his 13th World Championship reign after executing the RKO on Wyatt in one of the worst WWE Title matches in WrestleMania history.

10 Roman Reigns Vs. The Undertaker

Undertaker v Reigns WrestleMania 33 Cropped

Roman Reigns was competing in his third consecutive WrestleMania main event, and he squared off with The Undertaker in a No Holds Barred match. The Big Dog was booed as fans still rejected him as one of the top stars of the company.

Unfortunately, this match was bad from start to finish. The Phenom was nowhere near 100% ready to be in a match of this magnitude. Undertaker refused to stay down after several Spears but Reigns finally got over the line in a horrific main event. The Deadman teased retirement by leaving his in-ring gear in the ring but he actually only retired in 2020.

9 Dean Ambrose Vs. Baron Corbin

Ambrose v Corbin

The Intercontinental Championship has been defended sporadically at WrestleMania, which is a shame considering the prestige of the title. Surprisingly, Dean Ambrose's Intercontinental Title defense against Baron Corbin was relegated to the pre-show.

Neither man seemed motivated since it was in front of a sparse crowd.  Nonetheless, Corbin was going for his patented End of Days but The Lunatic Fringe retained with Dirty Deeds.

8 John Cena & Nikki Bella Vs. The Miz & Maryse

John Cena and Nikki Bella v The Miz and Maryse WrestleMania 33 Cropped

John Cena and The Miz closed out WrestleMania XXVII together but they were engaged in mixed-tag team action at WrestleMania 33. John Cena and Nikki Bella collided with "The It Couple" The Miz and his wife Maryse.

It wasn't the greatest in-ring match which is a surprise considering the usual outstanding quality of John Cena matches in 2017. The action was back and forth but Cena and Nikki prevailed after hitting their respective finishers. After the match, Big Match John proposed to Nikki who accepted in an emotional moment.

7 Goldberg Vs. Brock Lesnar

Goldberg v Lesnar

Goldberg and Brock Lesnar were looking to make amends for their underwhelming match at WrestleMania XX. This time Goldberg defended the Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar, although The Beast Incarnate was more focused on registering his first win over Goldberg.

The match was relatively short as expected in Goldberg's matches. Nevertheless, it was captivating to watch, and Lesnar finally got the better of Goldberg, becoming the first man to win both the WWE and Universal Titles at WrestleMania.

6 Bayley Vs. Charlotte Flair Vs. Sasha Banks Vs. Nia Jax

WM 33

Bayley had her hands full in her Raw Women's Championship title defense against Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Nia Jax. It was a four-corners elimination match with The Irresistible Force getting eliminated in the early goings by the other three.

There's no doubt that Bayley shone in her debut WrestleMania appearance, and The Boss was the next to be eliminated. Nevertheless, The Queen was the heavy favorite to prevail but Bayley was not to be denied by pinning Charlotte after executing an elbow drop from the top rope, which Randy Savage would have been proud of.

5 Neville Vs. Austin Aries

Neville v Aries

In the first match of the pre-show, Neville defended the Cruiserweight Championship against Austin Aries. The reigning Cruiserweight Champion relished in his role as a heel, which was certainly needed.

It's a forgotten classic since it was placed on the pre-show but that did not deter either man from tearing the house down. Ultimately, The Man That Gravity Forgot retained the gold with his patented Red Arrow.

4 Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson Vs. Hardy Boyz Vs. The Bar Vs. Enzo & Cass

WM 33

The Camping World Stadium crowd erupted when The Hardys made their long-awaited return to WWE. The Hardys competed in the fatal-4-way ladder match for Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson's Raw Tag Team Championship. The Bar's Cesaro and Sheamus, and Enzo and Cass completed this field.

This was a brilliant match that saw The Hardyz steal the show as the ladder match specialists. Matt executed a picture-perfect Twist of Fate off the ladder onto Anderson. Jeff performed a Swanton Bomb on Cesaro onto a bridged ladder on the outside which was superb. Finally, Matt climbed up and retrieved the titles capping off a perfect return for The Hardyz.

3 Seth Rollins Vs. Triple H

Rollins v Triple H WM 33

Seth Rollins went toe-to-toe with his former boss Triple H in a Non-Sanctioned match at WrestleMania 33. Both men utilized the Pedigree in their repertoire so it was interesting to see who would prevail with the move.

This is actually one of The Game's best matches at WrestleMania. There were a few near-fall finishes but the pendulum swung when Rollins superkicked The Game into his wife Stephanie McMahon, who fell through a table positioned at ringside. Rollins took advantage and planted Triple H with the Pedigree for a big win.

2 Chris Jericho Vs. Kevin Owens

Jericho v Owens

Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens were unfortunate that their United States Championship match was not for the Universal Title. Nonetheless, the two former best friends had tremendous in-ring chemistry together, which made this match exciting to watch.

Jericho gained the upper hand on The Prizefighter in this hard-hitting match, and Owens was narrowly close to being defeated by putting one finger on the rope. Remarkably, Owens captured the United States Title, although Mr. McMahon wasn't happy with Owens' performance once he got backstage.

1 AJ Styles Vs. Shane McMahon

Styles v Shane

The opening match of WrestleMania 33 saw AJ Styles and Shane McMahon collide in one of the best openers in WrestleMania history. This is unquestionably the best match of Shane's career, and working with someone of the caliber of Styles was the perfect opponent for Shane.

However, when the referee was knocked down it became a No Holds Barred style of the match with Shane executing Coast to Coast on Styles. Shane is a daredevil, but it proved costly when he missed the Shooting Star Press. Styles prevailed with the Phenomenal Forearm, and no match on the card managed to top his magnificent contest.
