The argument of which WrestleMania is the greatest of all time is one that will always rage on. Everyone has their own personal preferences, whether it be because they were their live, because it had a particular match, or just that the show was great.

However, the two that consistently are mentioned the most in that conversation of the greatest are WrestleMania 17 and 19. These are some of the strongest WWE PPVs of all time, with loaded cards.

Everyone will have their personal opinions about which show is the best, but within this article, we will break down five reasons why each show is the greatest of all time.

10 17: Greater Vince McMahon Match

That's right, we kickstart this list with the fact that WrestleMania 17 has the better Vince McMahon match. Both shows saw the WWE Chairman compete, and on both occasions, it happened to be in a street fight.

WrestleMania 19 saw Vince go one-on-one with Hulk Hogan, and while this isn't a bad match it is simply too long. Seeing Vince and an aging Hulkster compete for over 20 minutes is something nobody needed.

WrestleMania 17's storyline was more personal as he faced his own son, Shane. Here, they kept the match slightly shorter and it was all the better for doing so.

9 19: Greater Women's Match

Neither of these shows is particularly strong when it comes to showcasing women's wrestling, which shows how far WWE has come in this department. However, between them, it is WrestleMania 19 that wins the battle.

It wasn't hard for that to happen though, as the only women's match at WrestleMania 17 (between Chyna and Ivory), lasted for less than three minutes.

WrestleMania 19's match wasn't that much longer, lasting only seven minutes, but Trish Stratus, Jazz, and Victoria made the most of their time.

8 17: The Greater Streak Match

The Undertaker's undefeated WrestleMania streak wasn't something that WWE plugged heavily at this point, nor did they at WrestleMania 19. However, the Deadman did compete on both shows to secure victories and extend his run.

However, out of the two shows, it was WrestleMania 17 which had a better Undertaker match. Even though it is often forgotten about due to his later matches, this show saw 'Taker face Triple H in what was a great match.

When you compare it to the handicap match he had against A-Train and Big Show at WrestleMania 19, this was definitely a major improvement.

7 19: A Tighter Match Card

An issue that WWE has always had with WrestleMania's, especially nowadays, is that they often overbook the shows. Having tons of matches to fit everyone on the card doesn't always make a show better.

When it comes to these two 'Mania's, it is 19 that has the tighter card, with WWE having a more concentrated effort in the build-up. 19 had 10 matches in comparison to 17's 12, which might not seem like much, but does make a big difference.

When you consider that WrestleMania 17 also featured a gimmick battle royal that didn't even last five minutes, it is clear to see why WrestleMania 19 ran a tighter ship.

6 17: Hardcore

The Hardcore Championship always allowed for fun matches when the wrestlers were given time, and at WrestleMania 17 that was proven. Raven, Kane, and Big Show competed in a triple threat and the match was a total car crash in the best way imaginable.

Brawling all around the arena and backstage, this match was just tons of fun to watch. While everyone wants to see classic in-ring action at WrestleMania, sometimes a chaotic match like this is very well served on a card.

5 19: Better Tag Team Match

While WrestleMania 17 had an amazing tag team match (we will get to that), it was a gimmick match and therefore not a classic tag in the true sense. The show did have one true tag match, but that didn't even last four minutes.

However, at WrestleMania 19, WWE put on a fun triple threat tag between some great teams. The wrestlers involved in the match are incredibly gifted, and therefore it isn't a surprise that they were able to put on a very fun bout with the time given.

4 17: The Better Austin vs Rock Match

Both of these WrestleMania's feature The Rock taking on Stone Cold Steve Austin, and they are both fantastic. However, it is WrestleMania 17 that features the better of the two matches between these legends.

The two men have competed at three WrestleMania's, as their first match came at 15. However, the best of that trilogy was their bout at WrestleMania 17, which is why this is the strongest show.

While their match at 19 was good, both men were starting to prepare to head out of the business. This one saw them compete at their absolute peak and they proved just how good they were in the process.

3 19: Brock vs Angle

While WrestleMania 17 features a better Rock and Austin match, it could be argued that it doesn't really matter, because their match at WrestleMania 19 didn't even headline the PPV.

That honor went to Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle at this particular event, and despite the botched shooting star press, this was superb. The fact that the show didn't need to rely upon Rock and Austin to headline and sell it shows just how strong the event was.

The Beast was at the top of his rise in WWE, really developing as a main event star and Kurt Angle helped to ensure he got put over.

2 17: TLC

When it comes to these two WrestleMania's the main thing reason that WrestleMania 17 was the epic TLC match that took place. The Hardy Boyz, the Dudley's and Edge and Christian went out with a simple purpose- to steal the show.

That is exactly what they did. With some insane bumps including the famous Spear as Jeff Hardy clung on to the titles in mid-air, appearances from Rhyno, Spike Dudley, and Lita, this match had it all.

It is one of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time and really helped the show stand out. Having a top gimmick match that delivers on a WrestleMania card can really help make a show go from good to great, and that's what happened here.

1 19: HBK vs Jericho

Out of the two shows, the standout match from them all actually isn't the main event of either show. The honor belongs to Shawn Michaels' matches with Chris Jericho, which happened at WrestleMania 19.

The duo competed in the longest match of the night and they certainly made the most of the time they had in the ring. With a true back and forth match, they quickly proved just why they were two of the very best at the time.

Michaels is known as Mr. WrestleMania for a reason, and while this wasn't Jericho at the peak of his career, he was already proving his potential. It's a sensational match that really helps this show stand out considering it takes place halfway through the show.
