Wrestling and movies had gone together almost as long as professional wrestling and motion pictures have been around. Long before Thunderlips heaved Rocky into the twelfth row. Longer before Mickey Rourke starred in The Wrestler. The Swedish Angel, Tor Johnson was a regular in several Ed Wood movies. South of the border, Lucha Libre fans really loved watching the most famous Luchas that ever lived - Blue Demon and El Santo - do battle with vampires, zombies, and other macabre creatures in several movies.

Thanks to the supreme fandom that wrestling has had over the years combined with many  superstars being fans of Hollywood, it has helped to bring more and more professional wrestlers to the big screen. Batista is part of the vastest universe of movies ever created on film. The Rock is actually the biggest star on the planet. John Cena has also been systematically breaking through into the mainstream while juggling the final years of his wrestling career. The path has been paved for wrestlers to try something new once they want to put wrestling behind them. Many of the same principles apply though; to succeed in Hollywood and wrestling, you need talent and you need star power.

Not all of the wrestlers can have big starring roles though. Even the biggest wrestling movie stars has to start somewhere. Why not start with some cameos? If you blink and you missed them, here are 20 movie (and maybe, some TV) cameos featuring wrestlers that you might have missed.

20 The Rock – The Other Guys

youtube.com

The Rock has been firmly entrenched in Hollywood now since 2002-ish. He got his start on the small screen in bit roles on Voyager and playing his dad on That '70s Show. His film career was meandering a little, thanks to flops like Doom. A few later he found himself in The Fast And The Furious series and his career went from...ahem...zero to 60.

It allowed for The Great One to show his charm and his aptitude for comedy without the fear of failure. It also allowed for him to do it in smaller roles like in The Other Guys, where he and Samuel L. Jackson play brash detectives. Yes, that’s as cool as very cool gets.

19 Sable – Corky Romano

via cinemaclock.com

If you were someone like Dave Meltzer in the late '90s, then you didn’t seem to like a thing Sable did in or out of the ring and you might as well skip to the next entry... For just about everyone else on the planet, the blond bombshell didn’t do a lot of acting past the WWE. Sans a role on former Heat lead-in, Pacific Blue, Mrs. Lesnar’s one major cameo is the only reason to watch the unwatchable Corky Romano.

She plays a bouncer in the mafia comedy, who along with Verne Troyer (known for playing Mini-Me in Austin Powers), beat the Bastion Booger out of Chris Kattan’s character.

18 John Cena – Trainwreck

via businessinsider.com

When you stop to think about John Cena ridiculing The Rock for going to Hollywood, even in storyline, it always seemed a little hackneyed at best. Think of the money involved in both, plus that proverbial bump card can be filled at any time, more so the older you get. Especially now, that Cena is doing the same exact thing. Hollywood contracts aren’t interesting in their stars taking bumps that could halt a film’s production.

As Cena’s Hollywood career began a few years ago, he was able to show how funny he could actually be, playing the meathead boyfriend of Amy Schumer in the film, Trainwreck. He plays Steven, a guy who speaks Mandarin and thinks his girlfriend is a man, and not in a Becky Lynch kind of way.

17 Randy Savage – Spider-Man

If you think movies and wrestling go together, check out comic books and wrestling! Both are filled with colorful larger than life heroes, some who even wear masks. Stan Lee must’ve been a pretty big wrestling fan - he created Crusher Hogan, a wrestler who young Peter Parker took on during Spider-Man’s origin story.

In his first ever cinematic adventure, Crusher Hogan was changed to Bonesaw McGraw. Considering the Macho Man was tapped to play the character, there’s just no way he would want to play a guy whose last name is Hogan. Anyway, it's still one of the more memorable wrestler cameos in any movie.

16 Edge – Highlander: Endgame

via tumblr.com

According to the Rated-R Hall Of Famer, the producers of Haven more or less called him the day after he announced his retirement. Since then, Edge has been featured in WWE Studio films, as well as the acclaimed series, Vikings. Several years prior to his acting career being his primary source of income, Edge had played Lachlan in the final theatrical Highlander movie, Endgame.

While Edge beats Batista to be a part of a movie called Endgame, he is not the first WWE star to play a role in the immortal swashbuckling film series. That honor goes to Michael Hayes and the Freebirds, who were in the original film.

15 Jesse Ventura – The King Of The Cameo

via pinterest.com

For every WrestleMania he was a part of, about halfway through the event, Jesse "The Body" Ventura would be announced to the crowd. The former wrestler turned color commentator was the closest thing the WWE had to a big Hollywood star in their house on a constant basis.

The legend had been in films with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger and loved to brag about it during the show. But all of these roles and more are memorable cameos for Body. Blain in Predator, a crycon In Demolition Man, even a guard in Batman And Robin, even a version of himself in Major League II. Blink or don’t, you can’t miss the Body in plenty of films.

14 Kevin Nash – The Punisher

via youtube.com

Kevin Nash, by plenty of his colleagues’ accounts, is as charming as he is tall. Those two attributes make him perfect for Tinseltown, which he has been trying his hand at since playing Super Shredder in TMNT II: Secret Of The Ooze.

During one of his later runs the near seven-footer lost a hair vs. hair match and then he was gone. In actuality, it was to give Frank Castle a run for his money in the Thomas Jane Punisher film as the character, a mountain of a man, was sent to track down and finish off Frank.

13 The Big Show – Jingle All The Way

via pinterest.com

We’ve all seen the Big Show in The Waterboy. His appearance in the film as Captain Insano was a memorable one. But a lesser-known cameo from the big guy in the 90s is in Jingle All The Way. In the film, Sinbad and WWE Celebrity Hall Of Famer Arnold Schwarzenegger were both hunting down a toy for their kid on Christmas.

The muscle-bound suburban dad runs into a bunch of mall Santas. After easily handing it out to several of them, he comes up against a gigantic jolly old Saint Nick. Underneath the snowy white beard is none other than the Big Show.

12 Kurt Angle – Pain And Gain

amazon.com

It pays to be friends with The Great One. Kurt Angle has been trying to get some sort of acting career off the ground for some time now. He’s had roles in all kinds of B-movies, and a big role in Tom Hardy’s Fighter.

But being on screen with The Rock must’ve been a good payday, even if it was for mere moments. The Olympic hero played an inmate in Pain And Gain, an over the top Michael Bay movie based on a real-life story, also starring Mark Wahlberg and Anthony MackieAs for Angle, he got to lay the smackdown on The Rock one last time.

11 Ludvig Borga – Die Hard With A Vengeance

via twitter.com

Here's a nice throwback. In Die Hard With A Vengeance, John McClane is at the whim of a mad bomber and running all over New York to try and stop him. He’s placed bombs all over town and McClane and his new “friend” Zeus need to solve complex riddles to disengage them. One of the bombs is left at a park.

One of the bomber’s henchmen has no interest in carrying a bomb with him for fear that it could go off. You would think a guard being played by proto-Brock Lesnar, Ludvig Borga would have thicker skin than that.

10 The Undertaker – Suburban Commando

via youtube.com

If Hulk Hogan’s memory is to be believed, then every wrestling fan needs to get down on their knees and thank whatever deity you might ascribe to for the flop known as Suburban Commando. Hogan plays a shipwrecked alien trying to find his way home.

The reason we should be thanking the Hulkster is that according to him, the time he spent onset with a wrestler named Mean Mark, who was playing a bounty hunter in the film, was time enough to convince him to leave WCW ASAP and head to the WWE. Once he was there, Mean Mark became a certain Phenom and the rest is history.

9 Hulk Hogan – Gremlins 2: The New Batch

via squarespace.com

Speaking of The Hulkster, he thought he was once going to get the chance to work with producer Steven Spielberg. Spielberg would fall in love with Hulkamania and start casting him in all kinds of roles and the guy could finally step back from the ring. Then he found out Spielberg wasn’t on set when he was. So, he filmed his cameo and headed back to the WWE.

In Gremlins 2, Hulk plays himself cutting a promo, pondering if the Gremsters can stand up to the Hulkster; demanding they put the movie back on. What's hilarious is he's still wearing his championship belt in a movie theater.

8 Chris Jericho – Sharknado 3

via wordpress.com

Considering how many times Chris Jericho has had his kids on Talk Is Jericho, talking about their love of sea creatures, the Alpha must’ve been tickled pink to take part in the complete sci-fi schlockfest, Sharknado 3.

The first ballot Hall Of Famer and former IWGP Intercontinental Champion (who just lost his title to Tetsuya Naito at Wrestle Kingdom 13) has a cameo in a movie chock-full of them as a ride operator who’s having trouble finding his phone when meets a grizzly end at the hands of flying sharks. Y2J has always kept himself busy and this cameo was just another feather in his cap.

7 Kimberly Page – The 40-Year-Old Virgin

via zimbio.com

When perpetually single Andy reveals to his buddies that he's yet to pop his cherry, they do their best to help him. The Smart Tech employees take him to speed dating on their lunch break. Of course, the poor guy is super nervous. You might be too in his situation if you’ve never done it and what happened to Kimberly Page in The 40-Year-Old Virgin just happened. Indeed, it was a memorable scene for the ex-wife of WCW legend and WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page. However, most fans didn't know until years later that it was in fact the former Mrs. Page.

6 Jeff Jarrett – Spring Breakers & Life With Mikey

blogspot.com

For anyone who ever despised Jeff Jarrett growing up, the man did his job very well. In real life, he doesn’t seem that bad. What a heel though. He was able to make just about everyone hate him in memorable vignettes (J-E-Double-F), he also has made several fans as a babyface in TNA/Impact Wrestling.

When Spring Breakers started filming in Tampa, the TNA founder jumped at the chance to take part in the film. He plays a youth pastor in a brief cameo taking to Selena Gomez’ character. For the wrestling fans in us all, check out his match with a masked Jerry Lawler in Life With Mikey, nearly 20 years earlier.

5 Bill Goldberg – Looney Tunes Back In Action

via youtube.com

Fun random fact - both Bill Goldberg and Hulk Hogan’s spots on this list include Joe Dante films. After saying "Who's Next?" about 953 times in WCW, Big Bill wanted to try his hand in Hollywood. He’s had decent success here and there, even landing a reoccurring role in The Goldbergs. Of course, we all remember the unforgettable flop that was Santa's Slay.

In 2003, Goldberg got to hang out with Yosemite Sam in Looney Tunes: Back In Action. He gets to shoot a giant gun and be silly hanging out with cartoons. Pretty much what happened when Bill met Vince Russo.

4 Shane McMahon & Paul Heyman – Rollerball

twitter.com

Since many reading this probably have never even heard about this flick, let's provide some details about the film. In the near future, the new sport of Rollerball is wildly popular all over the world. It’s a hyper-violent sport and the film remake stars Chris Klein, LL Cool J, and Rebecca Romijn. The violent sport needed a purveyor of extreme violence to commentate the action. Who better than Paul Heyman to pontificate on the wonders of smashing your opponents to bits? Exactly – nobody. That’s why he plays the commentator in the film.

Shane-O-Mac even has a cameo as an owner of a Rollerball squad.

3 Terry Funk – Roadhouse

via sportskeeda.com

In between one of a dozen retirements, the Hardcore Hall Of Famer, Terry Funk found time to show up in a few films, and even record an album! He also starred in several Stallone pics, a short-lived TV series, and the Patrick Swayze so-bad-it’s-good film Roadhouse.

The Funker plays Morgan in the film, one of the thugs sent to try and send a message to Dalton. Despite having one of the memorable lines in the movie, unfortunately, we don’t get see the infamous branding iron or Swayze get a piledriver. Considering the amount of hardcore moments Funk had, we wish we could've seen him get a little more action in this movie.

2 John Cena - Daddy's Home

via pinterest.com

John Cena has gotten more and more roles in recent years, even co-starring in some successful movies, but he had to start with cameos. One overlooked role he got was in the 2015 film Daddy's Home, starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. The story centers around Ferrell's character marrying Wahlberg's ex, and the two learn to co-exist as father/stepfather. At the end of the movie, Wahlberg soon meets his wife's ex, a burly man strolling in on a chopper. Cena's cameo is short and sweet and proves to be a key scene in setting up the sequel, where Cena had a much bigger role.

1 Triple H – Blade: Trinity

via shopify.com

We’ve come full circle for the number one picture. Lucha Libre superstars fought vampires, WWE superstars become them. Triple H, by his own admission, wasn’t very interested in becoming an actor, but several of the roles he did take were pretty decent.

Similar to his Evolution buddy, Batista, Triple H was also part of the Marvel Universe. He took on the role of big bad Grimwood in Blade: Trinity and got to pal around with a vampire Pomeranian and do battle with Ryan Reynolds in his first-ever superhero flick. As we know, some of The Game's signature film role was The Chaperone.
