Most wrestlers will find their careers going to different wrestling promotions. Very few names have been able to have their entire run with one prominent promotion as change is quite common. There is the rare occasion where someone like The Rock or Trish Stratus starts in WWE and creates a legendary legacy. However, the majority of the roster will be viewed as expendable by WWE or other promotions looking to upgrade.

WWE and TNA specifically witnessed many wrestlers spend time on both rosters. AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Mickie James are some of the better stories of talents that did well in each company. However, many others fly under the radar due to not having a memorable run in one or both of the promotions. Find out which wrestlers worked for the two companies with ten wrestlers you didn’t realize spent time in WWE and TNA.

10 Hornswoggle

The WWE career of Hornswoggle gave him many memorable moments. Hornswoggle won the Cruiserweight Championship, had a storyline as Vince McMahon’s son, had a TLC Match, and even became a member of D-Generation X all during his WWE stint.

Most fans don’t realize he spent some time working for TNA. Hornswoggle appeared in one of the skits at the Hardy Compound when they experimented with the unique matches. TNA even used him during the joint shows with GFW before that project fell apart.

9 Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega is currently a tremendous manager in WWE for Andrade. However, that wasn’t the start of her career on television in wrestling. Vega performed under the name of Rosita in TNA. The tag team with Sarita aka current WWE coach Sarah Stock found success in the Knockouts tag division.

Rosita showed potential, but TNA never gave her strong direction to become a legitimate star. WWE signed her to an NXT deal years after the TNA run. The alignment with Andrade saw both performers shine perfectly together as they now thrive on the main roster.

8 Chris Kanyon

The late Chris Kanyon had an entertaining run in WCW as an underrated wrestler in the mid-card picture. Kanyon is not known for his stints in WWE or TNA, but he did work for both companies after WCW went out of business.

WWE had Kanyon play a comedic character claiming to be the MVP of the Alliance shortly after purchasing WCW. Kanyon struggled to get television time after the Invasion storyline ended. TNA would bring him in a few years later as Larry Zbyszko’s mystery representative in a losing effort against Raven as his sole match for the company.

7 Shannon Moore

Shannon Moore wrestled all over the map for different promotions in his career. WWE signed Moore as one of the talents from WCW for his time in 3 Count after the purchase. Moore had a solid run as Matt Hardy’s sidekick and a part of the cruiserweight division.

WWE didn’t view Moore as a long-term star and eventually released him. TNA would bring Moore in for a few small runs. One featured a singles feud with AJ Styles that showed he wasn’t at that level in the ring anymore. Another run would see him team with Jesse Neal in Ink Inc. as he struggled again to get over.

6 Luke Gallows

The current WWE run of Luke Gallows is seeing him team with Karl Anderson and AJ Styles in The OC faction. All three wrestlers had great times together in the Bullet Club that led to them signing with WWE and now working together in the stable again.

Gallows spent some time in TNA as part of another faction. The Aces and Eights group saw Gallows and Mike Knox as two of the first reveals. Fans never cared for either due to the poor booking. Gallows luckily left for New Japan which turned his career around in the Bullet Club.

5 Monty Brown

TNA found something special with Monty Brown in the early years of the company. Brown became one of the faces of the brand when TNA had a show on Fox Sports that aired on Friday afternoons. The backstory of Brown’s time in the NFL added another layer to his character.

Brown left TNA after being left behind when other big names signed and got the push promised to him. WWE eventually signed him with the new name of Marques Cor Von as part of the New Breed faction in ECW. Aside from a WrestleMania 23 team match, Brown did nothing of note before leaving WWE and wrestling altogether.

4 Tyson Tomko

The WWE run of Tyson Tomko saw him help elevate Christian into a bigger star. Christian’s small group with Trish Stratus and Tomko found success together in 2004. The role of Tomko as Christian’s enforcer helped both men thrive in the act together.

Christian eventually left for a run in TNA hoping to prove he was main event and world champion material. Tomko joined him about a year into the run when he turned heel and needed the enforcer again. AJ Styles joined them to make Christian’s Coalition one of the most entertaining factions in TNA history.

3 Lance Archer

Lance Archer is a name few fans will remember from either WWE or TNA given his short time in each. TNA used him under the name of Lance Hoyt in tag teams with Jimmy Rave and Kid Kash. Hoyt showed potential as a big man that could move around the ring, but it never led to much success.

WWE signed him with the name of Vance Archer to get a chance on the ECW brand. It wasn’t a good fit and he found his way released faster than expected. Archer is now thriving in New Japan as one of the more popular American talents to step up after the losses of names like AJ Styles, Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks.

2 Spike Dudley

The best years of Spike Dudley’s career likely came in ECW as the underdog hero. Spike received an opportunity in WWE after Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley became a top tag team. WWE did a solid job with Spike as he shined in quite a few storylines.

TNA is the place most fans won’t remember Spike working for. Once again, he was offered a spot after Bubba and D-Von joined the company. Spike teamed with them until a weird storyline occurred of him drinking too much and costing them matches. The run didn’t last long as Spike retired from full-time wrestling.

1 Xavier Woods

One of the strangest backstories for a current WWE star features Xavier Woods’ time in TNA. The company originally signed him to replace NFL player Pacman Jones in a tag team match on the biggest show of the year due to the NFL preventing him from wrestling.

Woods wrestled under the name of Consequences Creed and teamed with R-Truth in his first TNA match. Creed eventually teamed with Jay Lethal and had a short singles run in the X-Division. TNA used him poorly and he didn’t find success until joining WWE, specifically when New Day formed.
