WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan hasn't wrestled a match since Jan. 2012 when he was part of the TNA promotion.

At 66 years of age and with another back surgery looming, one can easily believe that Hogan's in-ring career is over. However, the WWE icon remains determined to make it back for one more match, having emphasized that he doesn't want his final wrestling bout to have taken place in TNA.

Whether or not WWE grants Hogan another match remains to be seen. But if they do, who should have the privilege of retiring him? Here are five prime candidates to close out Hogan's career, and five that shouldn't.

10 10. Should Retire: Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt is being pushed as the top heel in WWE right now, and the company doesn't have much more to do in terms of getting him over. The Fiend is the hottest thing in WWE currently, and he's already taken down top talents like Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan.

That said, Wyatt's push could be enhanced even more if he got the chance to retire the former face of professional wrestling. A win over The Hulkster would add more to Wyatt's incredible run as the Universal Champion.

9 9. Shouldn't Retire: Goldberg

Fans saw Goldberg clash with Hulk Hogan and the New World Order during their days together in WCW. Here we are two decades later, and it's safe to say that a rematch isn't really necessary nor desired.

Hogan is 66 years of age and hasn't wrestled since 2012. Goldberg's matches tend to be extremely short, so the pace and entertainment value here would be mediocre at best. With all due respect to Goldberg, he's not the guy who should retire Hogan.

8 8. Should Retire: Triple H

The Hulkster and Triple H faced off a couple of times during the Ruthless Aggression Era. This included a showdown at Backlash 2002 for the Undisputed WWE Championship, which was won by Hogan.

Given Triple H's history and placement in the WWE, it's easy to argue that few superstars deserve the honor of retiring Hogan like The Game himself. If WWE wants a legend and fellow icon to send The Hulkster off into retirement, few should complain if Triple H receives that opportunity.

7 7. Shouldn't Retire: AJ Styles

Fans got to see AJ Styles and Hulk Hogan together in TNA where they squared off in a couple of tag team matches. But should fans hold out hope in regards to a Styles vs. Hogan dream showdown? Absolutely not.

Styles is arguably the greatest in-ring performer in WWE right now. Hogan, being 66 years of age, is going to have to take it slow and steady in the ring. Therefore, a match against Styles wouldn't work due to the issues in regards to pace, technicality, and execution.

On paper, Styles looks like a great candidate to retire Hogan, but the match would be quite lackluster in quality, so it's better if WWE stays away.

6 6. Should Retire: Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan is one of the top main event performers in the WWE right now, but there are a handful of dream matches that we're still hoping to see with him.

Unlike Roman Reigns, John Cena and other faces, Bryan hasn't gone up against all that many WWE legends. A showdown against Hogan would be a sight to behold, especially considering that both carried the status as "the guy" at some point in WWE.

If WWE wanted to turn it up a notch, they could make it a no holds barred match of some sort. We saw Hogan put on some clinical matches with that stipulation, so it'd be fitting if he got to do it again in his sendoff match.

5 5. Shouldn't Retire: The Undertaker

WWE fans have already seen The Undertaker and Hogan square off in the past, most notably at Survivor Series 1991 and Judgment Day 2002—both title matches won by The Phenom.

You can argue that these are the two greatest and most influential superstars in WWE history, so it's easy to dream of another showdown between these two. But, after Undertaker's mistake-filled match against Goldberg at Super ShowDown, it's safe to say that WWE needs to stay away from pitting The Deadman against fellow part-time talents.

Hogan is 66. Undertaker is 54. The pace and overall performance of this match would be far from extraordinary. WWE needs to stay away from this match at all costs.

4 4. Should Retire: Roman Reigns

During his push as the main face in WWE, Roman Reigns defeated Triple H, AJ Styles, The Undertaker, John Cena, and Brock Lesnar. Why not keep the train ride going by pitting Reigns against The Hulkster?

Reigns has seen his overall popularity jump big-time here in 2019, and it's only a matter of time until WWE pushes him back into the main event spotlight. Imagine a showdown against the former face of professional wrestling?

If Reigns won, that would add another chapter to his incredible career up to this point in his career. He's already conquered a handful of future Hall of Famers. Why not have Reigns go up against Hogan next?

3 3. Shouldn't Retire: Vince McMahon

Hogan has expressed the desire to go up against the WWE chairman in his final match. In some way, it would be fitting, given their long and complicated history and working relationship.

But it makes absolutely zero sense for Hogan and Vince to square off unless WWE wanted the match to last two minutes (with few bumps taking place). Vince hasn't wrestled in years, and he's now 74 years of age.

Even if Hogan were to theoretically "squash" Vince, it would simply be a waste of everybody's time to see a match like that. If Hogan wants another showdown with Vince, it should be nothing more than a brief in-ring confrontation. Simple as that.

2 2. Should Retire: John Cena

John Cena vs. Hulk Hogan is one of the greatest dream matches that never took place. If WWE allows The Hulkster to come back for one more match, who could possibly be a better and more suitable opponent than Cena?

Hogan was the main face of WWE during the 80s and early 90s. Though we saw him go up against The Rock at WrestleMania X8, Hogan never squared off against Steve Austin, the main face of WWE during the Attitude Era.

Well, why not have the face of WWE during the booming period go up against the face of WWE during the Ruthless Aggression Era? Cena and Hogan rewrote wrestling history in different ways, and they're both among the most marketable and beloved superstars in history. If one person deserves to retire Hogan more than anybody else, it's the 16-time World Champion - especially considering that we've yet to see them square off one-on-one.

1 1. Shouldn't Retire: Brock Lesnar

WWE has absolutely spoiled Brock Lesnar over the last five years, even though he's merely a part-time wrestler. Just think about it: he ended Undertaker's perfect WrestleMania streak, and in the past two years alone, WWE has given him three Universal Championships plus one WWE title reign. Oh, and Lesnar won the 2019 men's' Money in the Bank ladder match despite taking zero bumps.

Now what? After ending Kofi Kingston's WWE Championship reign, Lesnar will get the honor of retiring perhaps the greatest wrestler in history? Please don't do that, WWE. You're better and smarter than this.
