Triple H is definitely at the helm of the World Wrestling Entertainment, steering it towards the best possible direction. With notable contributions to the business ever since he moved up the ladder, he has been a definite force to reckon with. A man of mammoth credentials and huge responsibilities on his shoulder, Triple H has always done what's 'best for business,' including turning NXT into the grand success that it currently is today. While his work ethic deserves to be lauded, his illustrious career (including his head-honcho activities) have been slightly marred by criticism from his fellow wrestlers, both from the present and past. There have been many instances where The Game has often sought revenge for being rubbed the wrong way, most notably by "burying" talents. But on the very opposite end of the spectrum there are wrestlers who have been on the receiving end of his respect and gratitude for being indispensable to the business of professional wrestling. He has made friends and foes along the way, which is understandable, keeping in mind how fragile relationships are in the business of sports entertainment. However, his use of authority has been questionable in the case of a few wrestlers who were absolutely disgruntled by the way he dictated terms behind the scenes (not really best for business). Here is a list of 10 wrestlers who earned the respect of the boss's son-in-law and 10 who definitely didn't

20 Respects: The Undertaker

via wallsofjerichoholic.com

When Triple H was taking his first steps into the world of pro-wrestling (with his annoying French gimmick), The Undertaker was an already established Superstar. Fans of the Attitude Era might recall Triple H as an important member of The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness.

At that particular juncture, Triple H’s career took off in all it’s crowning glory. The rivalry between the two precipitated over the years, with both men being revered for their exemplary displays of showmanship. While they were portrayed as sworn enemies as part of Vinnie Mac’s kayfabe tales, Triple H always had tremendous respect for The Deadman, which was well reciprocated.

Both shared great camaraderie and it is also reported that Triple H often sought vital advice from 'Taker, knowing the latter’s selfless nature as the leader of the locker-room.

19 Doesn't: CM Punk

Via: World Wrestling

The Straight Edge iconoclast shared an extremely tempestuous relationship with Triple H, paving way for an intense rivalry that triggered serious real-life implications. Punk opened about his association with Hunter in a two-hour long podcast with Colt Cabana, discussing how the abysmal relations finally led to his departure from the business.

Punk never felt good vibes from Triple H and also claimed that he never treated him with respect. Triple H, according to Punk, would be extremely passive towards him and the two men never looked eye-to-eye. Punk felt merely like a mere disposable pawn in the hands of the Triple H administration, despite being a critical main-eventer, leading to further disdain.

18 Respects: Shawn Michaels

Via: Sky Sports

Triple H and Shawn Michaels go way back to a time that predates their co-creation of D-Generation X. Michaels first became aware of Triple H's exploits while the latter was still trying to make a name for himself in World Championship Wrestling. In fact, it was Shawn Michaels, who, by virtue of his credentials, was able to convince Vince McMahon to sign The Game.

That’s where a long lasting relationship between the two was established. Both men had illustrious careers and their exploits with DX became pro-wrestling folklore. Despite a period marked by aberrations between the two egos, there has always been a lot of respect between the two.

17 Doesn't: Goldberg

www.hdnicewallpapers.com

Arguably the biggest star of the World Championship Wrestling, Goldberg made his foray into WWE in the spring of 2003 (interrupting a heel promo by none other than The Rock). Much was anticipated from this move by WWE, yet things didn’t go as per plan despite Bill’s early successful run.

He would subsequently bump heads with The Game which would trigger a domino effect, finally leading to his egress from the wrestling business (until his return in 2016). Even before the two were scheduled to face each other, Hunter would often bad-mouth Goldberg, often doubting his passion/respect towards the wrestling business.

16 Respects: The Rock

Via: Bleacher Report

Fans who thrived on Raw is War, would remember how intense the rivalry between Triple H and The Rock was. From the very start of their careers, both men vied for the highest prize in the business and WWE did a fine job of booking stellar storylines around them. Often the competition translated into real life tension between the two behemoth characters.

But now, when both men are respectively stable in their career paths, things are a lot more relaxed between them. Triple H admittedly has a lot of respect for The Rock and also expressed his desire to work another match. He even joked about how seeing The Great One post Instagram workouts prompts him to hit the gym with an even fiercer intensity!

15 Doesn't: Scott Steiner

via rollingstone.com

“Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner, is another name that froths to the supposed top of the list of people who rubbed Triple H the wrong way. It all began in 2002 when WWE signed Steiner from the unfortunate clutches of the ‘defunct and bought’ WCW franchise. Steiner, owing to his stellar success with the former brand, was immediately put into an angle with Triple H (then champion). A clash of the two egos forbade anything good which could have come out of the angle. Hunter and Steiner had absolutely no chemistry and their PPV match became a laughing stock, leading to a further deterioration of respect between the two men.

14 Respects: Ric Flair

Via: Cultaholic

Two of the most monumental personalities on Monday Night Raw, Triple H and Ric Flair shared amazing chemistry as members of Evolution, the once-elite faction. Triple H’s boyhood hero made the switch to WWE after the untimely demise (and takeover) of WCW (which was a blessing since Flair got to be his mentor).

Outside of WWE, Triple H helped bail Flair out of many a predicaments and the respect he had for The Nature Boy transformed into a lasting friendship! Flair (later in an interview) spoke about Triple H’s support over the years and hailed him as one of his closest friends.

13 Doesn't: Bret Hart

via wallpaper.wiki.com

A highly interesting phenomena that distinctly outlines one of pro-wrestling’s most disgraceful follies, is the Montreal Screwjob. Much to the dismay of the fans of the business, the Montreal Screwjob was seen as an act so lowly that it’s tremors continued to be felt even years later.

Triple H’s alliance to Shawn Michaels meant that he and Bret Hart would take to an extreme disliking for each other. Both men would take digs at each other over the years. Even now, it isn’t clear if there’s any respect between the two men.

12 Respects: Seth Rollins

via lutte.quebec.com

Triple H was quick to spot the talent and charisma of Seth Rollins and he subsequently took him under his wing during his time with NXT. In return, Rollins put up an impressive initial run which led to his crowning as the first NXT Champion. The liking for each other thus grew and Triple H, being a formidable mentor, helped Rollins make his ingress into the main roster.

Rollins was also an integral part of Triple H’s ‘Authority,’ which made him quite a polarizing character. It was thus established that Triple H saw a noteworthy companion in Rollins, while Rollins saw a great mentor in The Game.

11 Doesn't: Bill DeMott

Via: Brassringreview

Bill DeMott was a henchman, notorious for his tough-guy antics in World Championship Wrestling. Despite a few decent runs with Tag titles, he was mostly used as a jobber to the stars. He made a transition to WWE as part of the Invasion Angle for a seemingly decent run which soon ran out of fuel. He later made his return as a trainer for WWE’s development system and later for NXT.

But before anything good could materialize out of his NXT stint, he was accused of questionable behavior at work. He also put the NXT wrestlers through hard stunts that the unsuspecting rookies were thoroughly underprepared for, much to the ire of Triple H, who later fired him.

10 Respects: Ronda Rousey

Via: CBS Sports

Ronda Rousey startled the world when she decided to give up fighting in the octagon to forge a career with WWE. Many people, including notable critics, doubted her ability to sell herself as a professional wrestler, given her propensity for “real fighting” as opposed to putting up a show and cutting good promos.

However, Triple H had all the faith in her, which succoured her establishment in the pro-wrestling business as a dominant force. Triple H lauded her dedication to the business and showered immense praise on her. The backing of the head honcho meant that she was assiduously pushed all the way to the top of the ladder.

9 Doesn't: John Bradshaw Layfield

via si.com

John Bradshaw Layfield was quite an interesting character who played one of the best heels, replete with the paraphernalia that it entailed. However, things started getting sour for JBL once Triple H began his rise to power. According to sources, The Cerebral Assassin was the first man to have broken the news of JBL being punched backstage by Joey Styles.

Things would continue to deteriorate between the two and if the grapevine is to be believed, one of JBL’s reasons to leave commentary was because he felt disrespected by Hunter.

8 Respects: A-Train

via si.com

An unlikely name to pop-up on this list is none other than Mr. Piercing, aka Matt Bloom, who gained fame competing as Albert/A-Train and later as Lord Tensei. Though Triple H and Bloom never rubbed shoulders much on-screen (save a few instances), it is certain that Triple H has tremendous respect for his fellow Attitude Era wrestler.

Triple H appointed Bloom as the head trainer of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, following the latter’s brief tenure as a head trainer with NXT. Bestowed with such a demanding responsibility only evidences how much faith The Game has in the man.

7 Doesn't: Rob Van Dam

via pinterest.es

Rob Van Dam had all the right ingredients to make it to the top of WWE. He even elicited tremendous support from the crowd, owing to his high-flying moves. Yet, fate had different plans for him. Unfortunately, for RVD, he crossed paths with Triple H which cut-short his possible growth in the business.

Triple H reportedly jeopardized RVD's chances of claiming top spot in the business in the inaugural Elimination Chamber match, by administering a seemingly reckless move that injured the high-flyer. He never quite got much respect from Triple H, even outside of the incident.

6 Respects: Charlotte Flair

via wwe.com

If Ric Flair is here, can Charlotte be far behind? Triple H, in one of his famous speeches, heralded Charlotte as an inspiration to future wrestling hopefuls. In that speech he mentioned how Charlotte was a “lost soul” looking to make a mark for herself and how she “knocked the ball out of the park,” the first time she got an opportunity from Triple H and successfully went on to prove her mettle as a competitor.

You know you have earned the respect of The Game when he uses your story to set an example for those looking to make a name for themselves.

5 Doesn't: Ken Shamrock

via basised.com

The World’s Most Dangerous Man, Ken Shamrock made quite an impact when he moved to  WWE after an illustrious start to his mixed martial arts career. He was immediately given a huge push to the top, something which rubbed Triple H, the wrong way. Shamrock claimed that Triple H didn’t like the idea of putting him over.

He also stated that Triple H still maintains the grudge against him which is the major reason why Ken hasn’t been invited to any WWE events or granted Hall of Famer status for his contributions to the World Wrestling Entertainment.

4 Respects: John Cena

Via: StillRealToUs

John Cena was quick to rise to the top, owing to his gargantuan physique, impeccable mic-skills and the ability to pull crowds. His smooth transition from heel to babyface made him the “hot property” of the company and his ascension was akin to the coronation of Hulk Hogan as the poster boy of the industry.

His ascent brought him at crossroads with The Game and both men with their boisterous egos became the bitterest of rivals, giving many a memorable matches. Outside of the entertainment business, however, Hunter and Cena have often acknowledged the mutual respect they have for each other. Both men achieved stellar success in their relative career paths even outside WWE and have often used Twitter to congratulate each other.

3 Doesn't: Booker T

via wwe.com

Booker T enjoyed a favourable reception in WWE following his transition from WCW. He was a fan favorite, had good mic skills and was technically adept in the ring. But as Triple H’s backstage politicking would have it, Booker’s initial success failed to bear fruit in terms of the longevity.

In the buildup to WrestleMania XIX where both men were supposed to square off, Hunter verbally buried Booker. Even during the match, Triple H took his time in pinning Booker after nailing him with a Pedigree.

2 Respects: Roman Reigns

Via: SkySports

Roman Reigns (may he recover quickly) has had the backing of the business ever since his formative days in the business. Much of his “poster boy” status could be attributed to his positioning as an integral part of the company and that doesn’t come without the backing and the blessings of Vincent Kennedy McMahon and his son-in-law.

Triple H respects the “Big Dog” and has previously hailed him as a complete performer in every department of the business. While it remains to be seen whether Reigns can reclaim the spot of the “Chosen One” once he’s back, it’s confirmed that Triple H reveres him as a top draw!

1 Doesn't: Alberto Del Rio

via comicbook.com

Alberto Del Rio’s second run in WWE was something that was severely lackluster and one of the reasons for that was his strained association with Triple H. Del Rio was favored by Vince McMahon, but according to Triple H he was apparently “nothing special.”

His relationship with Paige invited a unanimous dislike from WWE. Triple H’s dislike of him ultimately resulted in him being ousted from the company. Like it’s said, talent enough doesn’t cut it, one needs to keep the leaders happy as well!
