CM Punk once told his future wife AJ Lee, in character, that “I dig crazy chicks.” Over the years, wrestling fans in general have shown their appreciation for some pretty out there characters. Sometimes, it’s the women that go off the deep end and garner the most attention.

Because of the nature of the business (re: mostly male dominated) for years, the ladies had to do a lot to be noticed, stand out, and achieve that iconic status, something that helped them become influential to fans across the world. It’s usually the strangest ones that stick out the most, and these women put in the work to make these crazy characters work.

10 Luna Vachon

Luna

Making her WWE debut as Shawn Michaels valet at WrestleMania IX, Luna Vachon immediately caught eyes for her interesting look - the sides of her head shaved and covered in veiny tattoos.

A year later, those tattoos went perfectly with Bam Bam Bigelow's flaming head and the two were an item. She had a brutal backstage fight with Sherri on Raw and as WWE headed into The Attitude Era, she came along to be a thorn in Sable’s side. She’s also responsible for bringing in the next member of this list to the WWE.

9 Bull Nakano

Bull Nakano

Rather than assault Alundra Blayze head on, Luna brought in a monster from The Rising Sun. Bull Nakano’s unique hair could make Kid N’ Play jealous. During her prime, in America women’s wrestling was nowhere near where it is today.

Bull Nakano brought a hard hitting style not seen in America yet for the ladies. WWE fans also were in awe of her finisher - the innovate Scorpion Crosslock.

8 Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss

About a year ago, Alexa Bliss would be on a very different list. But ever since she came under the spell of The Fiend (or he came under her own spell?), Alexa Bliss has become certifiably certifiable. A comic book villain once said that what doesn’t kill you simply makes you stranger.

Bliss had done nothing but terrorize Randy Orton and giggle like a crazy person while swinging in her playground. At WrestleMania 37, she even arrived and seemingly turned on The Fiend oozing black goo out. She seems to have turned her creepy focus on the Women's Division now.

7 Daffney

Daffney

Prior to Alexa Bliss aligning herself with The Fiend, Bray Wyatt used to meander on and on about Sister Abigail and their time together. Fans speculated for years and hoped that should Abigail ever reveal herself, it would be Daffney under the makeup.

Daffney got her start in WCW as David Flair’s psycho girlfriend. Her character was so different than any other female in WCW history. Daffney would run around the ring and scream louder than Jimmy Hart using a megaphone.

6 Ariel

Ariel

Even in the wild, colorful world of wrestling, vampire gimmicks were difficult to pull off. Ariel was one of the few, if only women to pull it off. The dark look helped Ariel get to the WWE’s version of ECW.

The Gothic Vampiress would also read tarot cards at the beginning of a few shows, sort of detailing the evening. She’d also help try to get over Kevin Thorne, another vampire in ECW.

5 The Sensational Queen Sherri

Sherri Martel

Sherri Martel was one of the toughest female competitors of her time and those that knew her would say she was tougher than a lot of the men. But some of her greatest moments came when she was outside of the ring as a manager for superstars like Harlem Heat, Shawn Michaels, and most famously The Macho King. Savage was completely off his rocker as The King and Sherri was right there with him turning it as his queen and some sort of scary witch.

4 Mickie James

Former WWE Superstar MIckie James in WWE

Mickie James will go down as a Hall Of Famer when she decides to retire. Her debut helped to cement her as an up and coming wrestler and her storyline with Trish Stratus instantly became one of the marquee feuds of The Ruthless Aggression Era.

She quickly became a completely schizo as Trish’s stalker fan and even kidnapped her bestie, Ashley. All roads led to WrestleMania 22, where she would defeat Trish for the Women’s title using some underhanded tactics that you won’t see on Peacock anytime soon.

3 Winter

Winter

As if an awkward angle with your storyline brother wasn’t strange enough! When Katie Lee Burchill was released from her WWE career, she wound up heading to TNA and became Winter. Similar to some other women, she came in with a stalker gimmick, having an admiration for Angelina Love. But she also was able to seemingly utilize magic to hypnotize and allure Angelina away from her friend, Velvet Sky and The Beautiful People to help Winter win the Knockouts Tag Titles.

2 Rosemary

Rosemary

When you hang around behemoth nut jobs like Abyss and Crazzy Steve, and you’re the strangest of the bunch, you’re pretty strange! TNA’s resident insane woman, Rosemary debuted and the trio Decay was formed to feud with The Broken Hardys.

Throughout her career in TNA, Rosemary has had battles for souls and resurrections and cinematic brawls. She also had a huge feud with now NXT’s resident dog walker, the former Taya Valkyrie.

1 Mae Young

Mae Young

As far as wrestlers go, they don’t get much stranger or tougher than the indomitable Johnnie Mae Young. A professional wrestler since 1939, Young toured the globe and territories, finally making her WWE debut during the Attitude Era.

The woman was in her seventies and still happy to take bumps! Or give birth to hands or win bikini contests. Whatever was needed of Young, the Hall Of Famer answered the call. Mae Young had stated she wanted to work a match on her 100th birthday. She will be gone ten years by the time that happens, but if anyone could make it happen, it’s Mae Young.
