The Royal Rumble is one of the most exciting nights of the year, with the 30-man and woman over the top rope match dictating two superstars that will go direct to championship 'main event' matches at WrestleMania.

While the match no longer guarantees a main event status at WrestleMania, it does start setting up the card and solidifies who is going to be in key positions, which is why the matches are so hyped up.

With 30 people competing in each match, which are both always jam-packed with surprises, it is one of the most unpredictable matches of the year, which many fans like to speculate on, and within this list, we will rank the 10 early favorites to earn the win in 2020.

10 King Corbin

This might not be something that people want to hear, but the chances are King Corbin will be a heavy favorite to win the Royal Rumble this time around after a huge year with the company.

Corbin has been a key part of WWE's programming for over a year now and gets the perfect response for a heel, being one of the very few wrestlers on the roster than can actually draw heat.

Corbin has also improved dramatically inside the ring and if WWE wants a match at WrestleMania that will pull out a reaction from the fans, then a heel Corbin against a top babyface would do the trick.

9 The Fiend

There is a high chance that when the Royal Rumble rolls around, The Fiend could be the Universal Champion, which would make sense given that he is the most popular act in the entire company right about now.

There is no doubt that WWE has major plans for Bray Wyatt's new character at WrestleMania 36 and that really should involve a championship match, which instantly makes him an early favorite to win the Royal Rumble.

Whether WWE has other plans for him to get into a major WrestleMania position remains to be seen, but a Rumble win is a big sign of intent on WWE's behalf and would be a refreshing option.

8 John Cena

This one might be a bit of an outside choice, but the number of WrestleMania's John Cena is actually going to be available for are going to be fewer and fewer as the years go on, with his body getting older and his schedule getting busier.

If WWE could get Cena's schedule to line up, then having him work a top WrestleMania match, one last time would be a major deal. Of course, given that he is currently tied with Ric Flair, going after that record is an obvious story to tell.

Some fans will be desperate for him to break it, others will be hoping he doesn't and that would be the main draw for the match itself, which is a moment his career deserves.

7 Kofi Kingston

It might seem strange to be predicting the current WWE Champion (at the time of writing) as a favorite to win the Royal Rumble match, but the chances are incredibly high that Brock Lesnar will be taking the title from him on SmackDown during the FOX debut.

If that does happen, then WWE could once again set up a huge storyline for Kingston heading into WrestleMania as he attempts to regain the championship from Brock Lesnar on the grandest stage of them all.

While it might be a little similar to that of Seth Rollins last year, the chances are that the fans would be even more invested, simply because Kofi is that popular and his underdog story would be even greater.

6 Braun Strowman

At some point soon, WWE is going to have to make a big decision in regards to Braun Strowman and will either need to go all the way and push him to become a World Champion or admit that it's never going to happen.

There are only so many times that WWE can have him be put in a major position and lose, and not capitalizing on someone as talented as the Monster Amongst Men would be a major mistake on WWE's behalf.

Having a big man win a Royal Rumble isn't something that WWE would traditionally do, with Strowman an exception should be made, having him wreck everyone in sight to earn a big WrestleMania moment.

5 Charlotte Flair

When it comes to Charlotte Flair there is very little she hasn't done, but winning a Royal Rumble is one thing she has yet to tick off her bucket list, and the upcoming Rumble could be the time she does that.

The Queen is no doubt going to be involved in one of the top storylines at WrestleMania, as she is still the best female wrestler in the entire company, so having her actually win the Rumble to get to that goal would make sense.

Flair can work as a heel or a babyface, which means she can slot into pretty much any storyline WWE wants and considering how she has dominated the division, its safe to say she will be a favorite.

4 Shayna Baszler

What a debut this could be! Bringing out the NXT Women's Champion and one of the most dominant wrestlers in the history of the black and gold brand would be a perfect way to introduce Shaya Baszler to the main roster.

Even though NXT is now on the USA Network, there is no doubt that talent will still move around, otherwise, people like Baszler will never have the chance to work a WrestleMania or Royal Rumble style show.

Baszler is the perfect heel to go up against a big babyface champion at WrestleMania, and arriving in style at the Royal Rumble to pick up a major victory would be a big way to do that.

3 Roman Reigns

It is impossible for Roman Reigns not to be considered a favorite for the 2020 Royal Rumble, with the Big Dog has been one of the faces of the company for the past few years.

Since returning from his battle with cancer, WWE has actually kept Roman away from the main event scene and not had him involved in chasing the WWE or Universal Championships, which has made sure he now feels fresh once again.

Reigns winning the Rumble to be given a major WrestleMania moment, potentially a third, and final match against Brock Lesnar doesn't seem to be out of the realms of possibilities

2 AJ Styles

Whether he is a babyface of a top heel, AJ Styles is always able to get over and make any storyline entertaining, and while he has always been given big WrestleMania matches, he has yet to be really put in a main event storyline.

Now seems like the right time to pull the trigger on Styles, putting him on a major platform where everyone knows he will deliver, having him win the Royal Rumble in order to get there.

Even if he is still a heel at that point, him winning the Rumble will have the fans going home satisfied, and considering he has never been Universal Champion, the company has a chance to make history with him.

1 Drew McIntyre

Ever since he debuted in WWE, Drew McIntyre was heralded as the 'Chosen One,' and while it has taken some time for that prophecy to be fulfilled, it feels like the road to WrestleMania 36 could be the time to do it.

McIntyre is currently out of action with an injury, but he is expected back in the near future, and WWE may just choose to hold off on that moment to fully build him as a dominant heel closer to the Royal Rumble.

Having the Scotsman appear and win the Rumble would be a real sign of WWE's intent for him, putting plenty of confidence into him and making him the top heel on whichever brand he ends up on after the draft.
