Seth Rollins Announces He Will Be The Cover Star Of WWE 2K18

Seth Rollins announced on ESPN SportsCenter on Monday morning that he will be the cover star for WWE 2K18 which will be released later this year.

On Monday morning, "The Architect" Seth Rollins was a surprise guest on ESPN SportsCenter. It was unclear why exactly the former WWE Champion was appearing on the show but it all became clear once Rollins arrived. The Raw Superstar will be the cover star for WWE's latest video game, WWE 2K18. Seth's announcement came alongside the release of the first trailer for the game, of which he is also the star.

It's unclear what the driving force behind the game will be this time, but it seems clear that the former "Mr. Money In The Bank" will be the focal point of the game. Last year's hook was the Fantasy Warfare angle between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. The TV spot depicts a masked figure destroying all sorts of memorabilia from various wrestlers' pasts before the man removes his mask to reveal himself as, yes you guessed it, Seth Rollins. The trailer then ends with the words 'Be Like No One'.

As well as announcing that Seth will be the cover star, details of the release date and advantages fans can get from pre ordering the game were also announced.

It's the first time in a while that the honor of donning the annual game's cover has gone to a Superstar that isn't a part-timer. The likes of Brock Lesnar, John Cena and The Rock have been the choices in the past so it may signal a changing of the guard to see someone like Rollins having it bestowed upon him. Seth even said himself that it's not only exciting for him, but for the whole locker room that a talent of his standing is gracing the front of a WWE 2K video game.

Some may question the choice of Rollins as the cover star of WWE 2K18. Although having a full-timer fill the role is unquestionably an exciting choice as Seth said, Rollins is hardly the hottest property in the company right now. With the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, and Finn Balor unable to put a foot wrong in the fans' minds right now it could be argued that any of those men would have also been a strong choice. That being said though, none of those men have the PR abilities that Rollins has and clearly needs for a task like this, and for a while now he has seemingly been the man WWE want to be the face of the company going forward.
