Gimmicks make up for a wrestler's identity in front of the fans. It's important that wrestlers take as much time as they require to choose their on-screen character because it's their biggest key to success. It's often hard to get over with the fans with a difficult gimmick but many wrestlers in the past have done it.

Wrestlers can have multiple fazes throughout their career and those stars who failed initially have often found huge success after a character alteration. WWE and AEW are two of the biggest wrestling promotions in the world, but there are many wrestlers in these companies who need to alter their gimmick to help their careers.

16 WWE: Riddle

Matt-Riddle

Riddle acts the part of a stoner in WWE. He's one of the brightest stars in wrestling with a resume that is backed up with an impressive mixed martial arts record. In the future, Riddle could become one of the few guys to beat the likes of Brock Lesnar.

But to rise to that level, The Original Bro has to go through several changes. To start with, he should get himself a manager and change his attitude slightly. Dropping his current gimmick might be the only solution if WWE wants the fans to take him more seriously.

15 AEW: Leva Bates

Leva Bates

AEW has a myriad of wrestling potential in their jampacked roster. Every now and then, AEW provides pay-per-view style matches in episodes of Dynamite. Most fans don't even bother with AEW Dark, but many underrated gems perform here every week. One such star appears to Leva Bates.

She executes The Librarian gimmick but needs a different role. Bates keeps herself busy with behind-the-scenes work, which is one of the reasons AEW doesn't feature her prominently. But those who have seen her perform in the indies know what she is capable of. Leva has several faces, but the one shown on AEW isn't the finest.

14 WWE: Seth Rollins

13 Seth rollins

Seth Rollins has impressed fans with his fantastic heel performance in 2020. Under his authority, the Authors of Pains received a significant amount of television exposure. Murphy's stock also increased by teaming up with Seth on a daily basis.

The Savior of SmackDown is currently on paternity leave, and when he returns, fans will want to see him chase a title. Putting a babyface Rollins against someone like Roman Reigns will benefit both stars.

12 AEW: Sammy Guevara

11 Sammy Guevara

Sammy Guevara would go down as one of the breakout wrestlers of 2020. He's young, charismatic, talented, and has many other qualities that make him a great wrestler. Fans even compare him with the late Eddie Guerrero.

Guevara has impressed the fans with his heel play, but now, it's time to split him from The Inner Circle. Sammy is still somewhat green in the ring but he has the potential to make a name for himself as an individual star. AEW sees potential in him and they should let him work as a face wrestler on his own.

10 WWE: Ricochet

9 ricochet

Ricochet is one of the best performers in all of WWE at the moment. However, Vince McMahon doesn't see the same potential that others believe he has. His main roster run tells that the creative minds have made every wrong decision in regards to Ricochet.

WWE needs to rectify the mistakes and allow Ricochet to prove his talent. His face run has failed terribly and WWE should either send him back to NXT or make adjustments to his character. A heel turn and a major storyline are all Ricochet needs at this point.

8 AEW: Jon Moxley

7 Jon-Moxley-AEW

Jon Moxley's arrival in All Elite Wrestling changed the entire landscape of this promotion. When Moxley made his presence felt at Double or Nothing 2019, fans were very excited. As the former AEW World Champion, Jon has worked as a lone wolf.

In WWE, Moxley was part of one of the most successful stables of the past decade. Now it's time that he starts an alliance of his own and proves to be a capable leader. He's still wildly popular but this could be refreshing.

6 WWE: Lacey Evans

5 Lacey Evans

Lacey Evans was one of the wrestlers who had the potential to succeed in WWE. But so far, her Sassy Southern Belle character hasn't won her any titles. She had the opportunity to become SmackDown Women's Champion at WrestleMania 36 but Sasha Banks shattered her dreams.

At this point, all Evans needs is a more serious character. She needs to become avaricious because this kind of character would suit her.

4 WWE: Peyton Royce

3 Peyton-Royce

Peyton Royce hasn't received enough attention from the management ever since The IIconics were forced to split. Ironically, WWE reportedly split the duo because they wanted to push Royce as a singles star. The former Women's Tag Team Champion has the potential to reach the main event status but Peyton still hasn't moved on with her pairing with Billie Kay but needs to get over it.

Peyton has the chance to shine as a top babyface wrestler. WWE needs to repackage her and allow a chase for the Raw Women's Title.

2 AEW: Miro

1 Miro

Miro's AEW debut was inappropriately effete. Although Tony Khan has given assurance to wrestling fans, it's hard to believe Miro would bear a comparison with the likes of Moxley, Omega, and Jericho in All Elite Wrestling.

His puppy love for video games is only going to take him so far. But to become a main event star, Miro has to ditch his nerdish character and put on a more serious gimmick.
