Aleister Black was one of several surprise names to be released by WWE at the start of June, which is something most fans didn't see coming. Despite Black being brought back to television recently, the company has decided to cut ties with him, which is a real shame considering the talent he has in the ring.

Black always put on fantastic matches when he was given the opportunity, especially when he was provided a good amount of time. His striking ability and fast-paced style always made Black a joy to watch. But what was his lasting legacy, and how do his final 10 matches in WWE hold up?

10 Aleister Black vs. Murphy (Raw, 5/18/20)

Aleister Black and Murphy had a lot of fantastic matches against each other which at one point helped to put both of them on the map. However, this particular match wasn't a stand-out for them.

Being given just over two minutes is never great, especially with the talent levels of these two men. Add in the fact that this ended via disqualification and it was a match to forget for both of them.

9 Aleister Black & Humberto Carrillo vs. Austin Theory & Murphy (Raw, 6/8/20)

A tag team match that doesn't last over three minutes is never going to be anything special and sadly that was the case here. There just wasn't enough time dedicated to this one for it to ever get going.

The babyfaces were able to sneak away with a win to upset the heels, but it wasn't a convincing or exciting story. The wrestlers tried to make it work with the time given, and the heels got their heat back post-match with the beat down on Black.

These four men all got the chance to work with each other a lot during this period of time and because of that, they were able to get straight down to work here. They fit a lot in a limited time period, but this was another short and forgettable match.

It served its purpose to build up Seth Rollins' faction at the time, as they attacked both Black and Carrillo after the match. However, in terms of the match itself, this one wasn't anything special.

7 Aleister Black vs. Murphy (Raw, 7/3/20)

Another match between Aleister Black and Murphy was an improvement on what they put together previously during this particular story. Once again, a disqualification finish did stop this from being a top-quality encounter, but it was a solid enough contest for an episode of Raw.

They were given more time in this match with five minutes of hard-hitting action taking place. But without a clean finish, it was never going to hold up to their classic matches from the past.

6 Aleister Black vs. Kevin Owens (Raw, 9/14/20)

Aleister Black and Kevin Owens' storyline was only a brief one, which was a shame. However, they did bring the best out of each other, even in this very quick encounter they were able to make it stand out.

The two men got just less than five minutes to showcase their ability, and that's exactly what they did. It was fast-paced and filled with energy and back and forth action, which made this an enjoyable match.

5 Aleister Black vs. Kevin Owens (Raw, 9/28/20)

These two men always seemed to connect well inside the ring, putting together great matches. Their styles clashed well whenever they wrestled, with KO's brawling antics matching Black's striking work.

This was a nice competitive match between them, but the only issue here was that the finish ended up being a disqualification, with an accidental strike to the referee bringing it to an end abruptly.

4 Aleister Black & Humberto Carrillo vs. Seth Rollins & Murphy (Raw, 6/27/20)

While Aleister Black was never seen as a traditional tag team wrestler in WWE, he always did a great job in this environment. This match is a great example, with this being a fun tag bout that featured four great talents.

Black and Humberto Carrillo worked really well together and seeing Black get to work with Seth Rollins always fun. The heel worked brilliantly in doing everything they could to steal an advantage, and it led to an entertaining encounter.

This was a terrific match that just allowed the focus to be on the two men competing against each other. But Seth Rollins and Aleister Black are great wrestlers and they worked together brilliantly.

The two men fit in fun near falls, with great moments that helped people buy into the encounter. But overall, what made this match great was the variety of wrestling moves, strikes, and exceptional selling.

It was a great contest between them which featured some creative moves and some nice near falls as well. It's just a fantastic example of allowing two great wrestlers to just do what they do best and the outcome was entertaining.

This was a PPV quality match that showcased just how good both men are. Being given over 20 minutes was always going to lead to an amazing encounter, and that was the case here.

It's easily Black's best match towards the end of his career, with the two men just going back and forth throughout. They stole the show that night with an amazing blend of technical and high-flying wrestling.
