Baron Corbin apparently came close to getting fired by WWE recently, and it's not for the reason that you might think either.
Baron Corbin has had a bit of a roller coaster ride these last couple of months. A former football player with no previous wrestling experience means that he is a WWE creation, much like Roman Reigns. With that in mind, the future looked bright for The Lone Wolf. It looked even brighter for him when he won Money In The Bank less than three months ago, but then something went wrong.
On the SmackDown Live before SummerSlam, Corbin cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and lost, making him only the third person in history ever to do so. Then five days later at the pay-per-view, Corbin lost to John Cena. Rumors started to swirl that Corbin was being punished for something, and all logical signs pointed towards one thing.

Corbin lives the gimmick and is extremely outspoken to fans looking to trash him on Twitter. Unfortunately for him, that landed him in an awkward position when he had an altercation with a military veteran via social media. All of that happened just days before his career seemed to start unraveling. According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, however, it wasn't that which almost got Corbin fired. According to Meltzer it was actually something that happened backstage, and if it wasn't for Vince McMahon being such a big fan of his, then he would be gone.

Baron may have been on the fast track to becoming a WWE Champion just a matter of weeks ago, but since the dust from SummerSlam week has settled, it hasn't exactly been all bad for The Lone Wolf. Right now, Corbin looks set to take on AJ Styles for the United States Championship, and right now, that's arguably a better position to be in than chasing Jinder Mahal and the WWE title.
As is often the case with things, it is all rumor and conjecture. Unless Baron Corbin comes out and tells us himself, this will be one of those situations that we will never know the whole truth behind. If any of the above did take place though, WWE will be disappointed as they have a lot invested in the former Mr. Money in the Bank at this point.
