Randy Orton appears to be facing an uncertain future in WWE, with speculation arising that he could be headed to the rival AEW promotion.

Earlier this week, Orton teased a move to AEW when he posted a photo of himself starring at a sign that read "Elite Level." Along with numerous WWE superstars, he also tagged AEW talents in Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes.

It was also reported that Orton had signed a 10-year deal with WWE in 2010, meaning his contract will expire at some point next year. That, along with Orton's Instagram post, is leading some to believe that the Viper could be preparing for a jump to AEW.

And apparently, WWE has been unsuccessful in getting Orton to sign a new deal.

According to a report from Rajah.com, the 39-year-old Orton "is arguably the last major star that hasn't committed to a new contract." The report also noted that WWE has tried to get Orton to sign a new deal, but their efforts haven't prevailed yet.

Things don't appear to be boding well for WWE at this time. If the above reports are true, then it almost feels as if Orton has already made up his mind. Of course, nothing is official yet, and maybe WWE will find a way to keep Orton after all.

It's well-known by now that Vince McMahon and WWE officials aren't keen on losing superstars to rival promotions. This could explain why they haven't released Luke Harper and Mike Kanellis, who have both asked to be let go from their contracts. But with Orton's current deal about to expire, he has all the power to leave if he so wishes.

Orton Will Do What's Best For Him

Orton has been one of WWE's elite talents for nearly two decades now, and he's sure to earn a spot in their Hall of Fame some day. But we've seen many top superstars jump ship from WWE, including Dean Ambrose (now Jon Moxley). If Orton decides that AEW is best for his long-term wrestling future, then there's absolutely nothing WWE can do about it. We'll continue to monitor the situation.
