Last night, NXT general manager William Regal made a surprising announcement in regards to the NXT Championship.

On July 4, WWE will travel to Tokyo, Japan for a super card featuring an NXT title match pitting champion Kevin Owens against No. 1 contender Finn Balor. The latter returns to Japan for the first time after signing for WWE. Balor was the former leader of New Japan Pro Wrestling's (NJPW) popular heel stable, The Bullet Club.

Taking place at Tokyo's legendary Sumo Hall, the event will be broadcast on the WWE Network at 6:30 a.m ET, and also features John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Paige, Neville, The Lucha Dragons, and Chris Jericho.
