In an effort to make WWE Backstage appear like a news-breaking must-watch platform and outlet, Fox has included Ryan Satin who reported the signing of two WWE Superstars on the Satin Sheet Tuesday night.

A show that was full of multiple surprises— like the return of CM Punk — WWE Backstage introduced a segment called the Satin Sheet where Pro Wrestling Sheet scribe Ryan Satin delivered the latest in breaking WWE news. It was an oddly-formatted segment meant to be framed in a way that "dropped the dirt" so-to-speak but the news was no less relevant because of it.

First, he shared that not only way Johnny Gargano not medically cleared to complete at War Games but both The Miz and Paige had signed multi-year contract extensions with WWE.

The Miz was rumored to have signed some time ago, but apparently that news was premature as he took to Twitter after the show and confirmed the reports. He said, "BREAKING NEWS dropped by @ryansatin on @FS1 #WWEBackstage: I just signed a new multi year deal w/ @wwe".

He added that WWE had been his home for 15 years and he's happy to say it will stay his home for years to come, promising to work harder than ever.

Following that, while Paige was in the studio live to hear the news about herself, Satin said he had to dig a little to find out but that Paige had also signed a new deal. Not physically cleared to wrestle, Paige is being used on shows like WWE Backstage and in other projects. She's a good ambassador for WWE and the company seems to like her marketability.

Expect More News Like This

As WWE Backstage tries to build an audience with some early ratings that aren't great, expect more newsworthy notes like these to come out of the show. WWE wants to make this show a place where you feel like you need to come to get the latest news.

Let's just hope they find a format that isn't so cheesy while they make these announcements.
