10 Shawn Michaels vs Bret Hart (Survivor Series 1997)

The most forgotten aspect of the Montreal Screwjob is that Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart were having a great match until the ending. Michaels and Hart brawled around the venue in entertaining fashion as the two could have delivered something special on almost any other night.

Survivor Series 1997 ended with Vince McMahon ringing the bell when Michaels had Hart in the Sharpshooter to win the WWE Championship. The controversial moment is still relevant over two decades later, but it would have been cool to see a real ending if everyone was on the same page.

9 Batista vs The Undertaker (Survivor Series 2007)

Survivor Series 2007 stood out as an underrated event in the show’s history. The main event featured Batista and The Undertaker continuing their feud from WrestleMania 23 inside of the Hell in a Cell structure. Fans were shocked at the ending when Edge returned from injury.

Edge hit Undertaker with a steel chair allowing Batista to pick up the win and retain the World Championship. The match between Batista and Undertaker was quite entertaining before the interference as both men had great chemistry together.

8 CM Punk vs Alberto Del Rio (Survivor Series 2011)

CM Punk’s record-breaking WWE Championship of the modern era started at Survivor Series 2011 in Madison Square Garden. WWE’s most recent PPV in MSG was a great night for Punk as the New York crowd treated him like a hero, especially during the ring introduction by Howard Finkel.

Punk defeated Alberto Del Rio in an impressive match that had the audience invested in every second. The popularity of Punk slowed down after the summer ended, but this night was ideal in bringing it back to start his title reign in the best way possible.

7 Victoria vs Trish Stratus (Survivor Series 2002)

The women’s division had a rare Street Fight in 2002 when Trish Stratus defended the Women’s Championship against newcomer Victoria. Fans were captivated by the heel character of Victoria essentially making Stratus her prey in WWE.

Both ladies had a violent match together with trash cans, brooms and a mirror as some of the weapons. Victoria won the historic and entertaining match to become the Women’s Champion. The women’s division gained some momentum thanks to this match and feud.

6 Sycho Sid vs Shawn Michaels (Survivor Series 1996)

Shawn Michaels started receiving jeers from the WWE audience during his 1996 WWE Championship reign as a face similar to Seth Rollins’ recent struggles. Madison Square Garden fans stunned WWE when cheering Sycho Sid in his matches against Michaels at Survivor Series 1996.

Sid had the best match of his career with Michaels doing most of the work to carry him. The excitement for the match added to the overall story as both men pulled off a main event significantly better than expected. Sid won the WWE Championship with a huge pop from the fans happy to see it.

5 John Cena vs Shawn Michaels vs Triple H (Survivor Series 2009)

The story of the Survivor Series 2009 main event was both DX members Triple H and Shawn Michaels challenging John Cena for the WWE Championship in a triple threat match. No alliances would remain intact during the match as Michaels started it off hot with a shocking superkick to Triple H.

Fans were invested in the match from start to finish as all three men performed at a high level here. Cena overcame the odds to defeat both members of DX and retain the title. The improvement of Cena was shown perfectly here as he held his own against two legends.

4 Randy Orton vs Shawn Michaels (Survivor Series 2007)

WWE added a unique stipulation to the Randy Orton vs Shawn Michaels match for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series 2007. Michaels would lose the match if he delivered his Sweet Chin Music finisher to Orton at any point.

The limitations made Michaels try various finishers from his prior rivals. None of them worked and the stipulation would lead to his downfall. The finish saw Michaels almost went a hit a superkick out of instinct before holding back. Orton took advantage by hitting the RKO to retain the title in an instant classic.

3 Bret Hart vs Steve Austin (Survivor Series 1996)

Survivor Series 1996 was the first huge opportunity for Steve Austin to show he could thrive in the WWE main event picture. Bret Hart made his WWE return after taking most of the year off to face Austin at the huge event in Madison Square Garden.

Austin stepped up to the occasion and had a tremendous outing against Hart. WWE realized there was something special with Austin and it was showcased perfectly in a feud with Bret. Both wrestlers delivered a classic on this night to set up an even bigger match at the following WrestleMania 13 event.

2 Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan (Survivor Series 2018)

Daniel Bryan’s shocking heel turn on the go-home edition of Smackdown before Survivor Series 2018 changed the card. The win of Bryan to become WWE Championship would see him now replace AJ Styles in the champion vs champion match against Brock Lesnar.

Various interviews throughout the years confirmed that this was Bryan’s dream match. It lived up to the hype as Bryan worked as an underdog while still showcasing his new heel character. The main event was a classic with Brock eventually taking the win after Bryan’s comeback fell short.

1 Bret Hart vs Diesel (Survivor Series 1995)

The Survivor Series 1995 main event was the perfect 90s match for WWE. Diesel went in as the WWE Champion defending against the popular Bret Hart. Both men traded offense and had the fans in awe when using the commentary table for a rare WWE table bump.

Hart was in prime form building a tremendous comeback against the bigger man. The finish would see Bret pull off the upset to become the new WWE Champion. 90s fans will always remember the moment of Hart getting the victory to once again hold the gold.
