There are many professional wrestling angles in WWE that failed miserably. Most of the time, the angles are just swept under the rug and quickly forgotten about. However, there are also angles so bad that fans still talk about them decades later. These are angles that either should have been huge or ones that never should have been attempted.

During the Attitude Era, Vince Russo convinced WWE to have its wrestlers fight for real, despite the wrestlers not being trained fighters and were all performers. This was the Brawl For All and was a massive failure. After WCW went out of business, WWE started an invasion angle that failed to meet expectations. But, which of these angles was worse?

10 Brawl: Real Life Injuries

Road Warrior Hawk

There were some legit fighters involved in the Brawl For All. Dan Severn was a former UFC Champion. Marc Mero was a Golden Gloves Boxer. Godfather was a legit tough guy. Dr. Death Steve Williams was supposed to win it all. There was one problem. These are men who had been professional wrestlers for years and were not real fighters anymore.

Dr. Death suffered a hamstring injury and lost to Bart Gunn. Others injured included Steve Blackman, Godfather, Road Warrior Hawk, Savio Vega, and Brakkus.

9 Invasion: McMahon Vanity Project

Shane 2001

When WWE bought WCW, fans got very excited. It was finally time to see the stars of WCW battle the stars of WWE. That never happened, and fans should have known better from the start.

Mr. McMahon was the first face seen on the last episode of Nitro, and then Shane McMahon was the last face fans saw on that same Nitro. Even when Paul Heyman and ECW joined up, Stephanie McMahon put herself in front of them all. This was nothing more than the McMahon family spitting on the grave of WCW and ECW.

8 Brawl: No Control Over Outcome

Brawl For All Bart Gunn Godfather

WWE wanted Dr. Death Steve Williams to win it all and believed he was the man who would take home the trophy and prize money. However, an injury took him out of action. Dan Severn was another legitimate choice, but he quit after winning his first-round match due to his dissatisfaction with the rules.

WWE had no idea who would win because this was real fights, so when Bart Gunn won, they had no star to push.

7 Invasion: Used To Bury Competition

Undertaker and DDP

With the McMahon family putting their faces in front of the WCW Invasion angle, they then used the entire angle to systematically wipe out every star that signed with them from WCW.

It never seemed like WWE wanted it to succeed and just fed every WCW star to WWE talent to lose. Rob Van Dam and Booker T were the only two who came out looking good. Even top stars like Diamond Dallas Page became an afterthought.

6 Brawl: Bad Fights

Brawl For All

When WWE decided to have the Brawl For All, it seemed like an idea that could give fans something they never saw before and bring in some new fans. All it did was drive some fans away, and new fans who watched a Brawl For All fight left and never returned. The fights were terrible. These men were not trained as real fighters, which was an embarrassment for anyone who watched MMA fights in the '90s. Chants of "boring" rang out during the fights, and it couldn't have ended soon enough.

5 Invasion: No Clear Sides

Austin Invasion

One of the worst things about the WCW Invasion was how it all turned out. This was supposed to be WCW and ECW taking on WWE, the lines clearly drawn in the sand. The match that ended the angle for good didn't even have hardly any WCW or ECW names involved. When Stone Cold Steve Austin joined the WCW side, the entire angle nosedived. The men representing the WCW/ECW Alliance at Survivor Series in the final match of the angle were Steve Austin, Kurt Angle, Shane McMahon, Rob Van Dam, and Booker T.

4 Brawl: Ruined Wrestler's Careers

DR DEATH STEVE WILLIAMS

Dr. Death Steve Williams was supposed to be the man who won the Brawl For All. Jim Ross had brought Williams in, and while Doc was not the typical WWE superstar in the Attitude Era, he was a big guy with a legitimate reputation as a bad-ass, and if he won this tournament, it was supposed to set up a future fight against Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Williams suffered a hamstring injury and was out of WWE a short time later. The winner was supposed to be a huge star in WWE and get a future title shot. Bart Gunn won, and no one cared, and he was gone a short time later. Dan Severn left soon after this, as well. No one came out of Brawl For All looking good.

3 Invasion: Alieanted WCW Fans

The nWo in WCW

WWE had a chance to do something special here. There were rumors that WWE would have its stars on one show and WCW would hold its shows on the other (Raw and SmackDown). That all ended after the first night.

WWE set up the first WCW match on WWE Raw in Tacoma with Booker T vs. Buff Bagwell, and WWE fans crapped all over it. If they had waited one week later, WWE would have been in WCW country, and it could have had a chance to succeed. WWE had a chance to bring in WCW fans, but they all tuned out when they realized what was happening.

2 Brawl: Butterbean

Butterbean

The payoff for the Brawl For All tournament was a WrestleMania moment where the winner would fight professional boxer, Butterbean. This was supposed to be Butterbean vs. Dr. Death Steve Williams, and that might have gone down just as badly.

Even Dan Seern would have struggled since he was not used to wearing boxing gloves. Instead, Butterbean knocked out Bart Gunn in just over one minute, and WWE looked like a joke.

1 Invasion: It Could Have Been Massive

WCW Stars

The WCW Invasion angle should have been the biggest angle in professional wrestling history. Honestly, WWE could have printed out money from this angle if they had booked it right.

WWE could have brought in WCW superstars and kept them strong and brought over all WCW's loyal viewers as well, building a massive paying audience. Sadly, many WCW stars chose to sit at home and collect guaranteed contracts, so the biggest names were not available. Even with the smaller names, WWE could have done big things here and instead chose to bury its competition once and for all.
