In the late 2000s and early 2010s, in an attempt to boost Monday Night RAW's ratings, WWE started to invite celebrity guest hosts onto the show. Often the guest host would participate in backstage segments, and maybe make an appearance live in the ring. All in all, most of the guest appearances were forgettable.

On the other hand, when the celebs would get their hands dirty and get in an altercation with wrestlers, things got interesting. Whether it be lighthearted teasing or a full-fledged assault, these guest hosts certainly earned their appearance fees.

10 Freddie Prinze Jr.

Actor Freddie Prinze Jr. is a massive wrestling fan. He'd been shown in attendance at numerous WWE shows in the past, so a chance to guest host RAW was a dream come true for Prinze. Enter Randy Orton. Refusing to change his tag team partner to be anyone but John Cena, the number one contender for Orton's WWE Championship at the time, Prinze Jr. was attacked by Orton (which would turn out to be a recurring theme for RAW guests in years to come).

Freddie sold Orton's backbreaker as if his back was actually broken, showing a true appreciation for the art of pro wrestling. Prinze Jr. would go on to serve a behind the scenes role for WWE in 2010.

9 "Curly" of the Three Stooges

In 2012, Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, and Chris Diamantopoulos came on the show in character as "Curly," "Larry," and "Moe" respectively to promote their movie The Three Stooges. Larry and Moe entered the ring first, shortly followed by Will Sasso as Curly, who delivered a legitimately fantastic Hulk Hogan impression.

The trouble came when the Big Red Machine Kane entered the scene. The pyrotechnics of his entrance sent Moe and Larry running, but Curly stood his ground. "Hulk" a.k.a. "Curly" a.k.a. Will Sasso proceeded to "hulk up" on Kane, only to suffer a devastating chokeslam moments later. A poke in the eye from Moe and Larry is never fun, but it's definitely preferable to Kane's wrath.

8 Machine Gun Kelly

Machine Gun Kelly and Kevin Owens

Rapper Machine Gun Kelly got more than he bargained for in his 2015 appearance on RAW. After performing his single, "A Little More," for the live audience, Kelly was confronted by Kevin Owens. MGK took exception to Owens refusing his handshake and shoved the former NXT Champion, which was answered with a powerbomb off the RAW stage.

The powerbomb itself wasn't the cleanest Owens ever delivered, and Kelly clearly fell onto a well-padded surface, but he still deserves a lot of credit. No matter the landing pad, taking a powerbomb off a high platform is still a risk. Regardless of how his performance was received by the fans, MGK deserves kudos for his commitment to be attacked on live TV.

7 Beaker and Gonzo of The Muppets

While both have a measure of silliness attached at times, the worlds of professional wrestling and The Muppets are not too similar. So when they were collectively the guest hosts of RAW in 2011, fans weren't sure what to expect. What they did see was a legitimately entertaining show. The timeless Muppet gang is widely considered to be among the best guest hosts that RAW had in that era.

Unfortunately, some didn't leave the show unscathed. Beaker got a bump on the head from Christian before being rescued by his kayfabe cousin Sheamus, Gonzo had his arms stretched and wrapped around his nose by Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler, and Kermit got a bag over his head courtesy of "Dashing" Cody Rhodes. Despite their gruesome injuries, The Muppets persevered and still remain box office draws to this day.

6 Steve-O and Chris Pontius

In 2006, on an episode of RAW emanating from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the theme of the night was "RAW Goes Hollywood!" Riding high off the success of their movie Jackass Number Two, Steve-O and Chris Pontius hit the ring to address the crowd, only to be interrupted by "The Samoan Bulldozer" Umaga.

Not surprisingly, Umaga attacked the two members of the Jackass crew with stiff kicks and a signature Samoan drop. Also unsurprisingly, Steve-O coped with the pain by rolling on the canvas and laughing after Umaga delivered a splash. Umaga did not take kindly to Steve-O's "selling," and laid in a few legit punches on him. From that point on, anyone saying wrestling is fake should ask these Jackass guys their thoughts.

5 Kevin Federline

Also in October of 2006, Britney Spears' former husband Kevin Federline graced the WWE airwaves with his presence. He got what many WWE stars would have killed for in the mid-2000s: a feud with WWE Champion John Cena.

Accompanied by Johnny Nitro and Melina, Federline came to the ring and thankfully was interrupted by Cena. After trading some verbal barbs with the champ, Cena went in for a handshake, only to unexpectedly deliver an F.U. to the "rapper." Federline ended up with the last laugh, costing Cena a match at Cyber Sunday, and even holding a pinfall victory over Cena on the New Years' edition of RAW.

4 Wayne Brady

On May 3rd, 2010, comedian and game show host Wayne Brady was the guest host of Monday Night RAW. He and Randy Orton were guests that night on Edge's talk show "The Cutting Edge," amid Orton and Edge's rivalry at the time.

Unfortunately for Brady, he got caught in the crossfire and suffered an RKO at the hands of The Viper. As opposed to the norm of non-wrestlers taking finishers poorly (see Donald Trump's sell of the Stone Cold Stunner), Brady put his improv training to excellent use and gave Orton's signature move its due. He even tweeted later that it was a real "bucket list" moment for him.

3 Mark Cuban

Dallas Mavericks owner and infamous “Shark” Mark Cuban is no stranger to confrontation. While he usually gets into it with referees courtside for Mavs games, on more than one occasion he has gotten into it with WWE superstars.

One would think that after his first in-ring experience at Survivor Series 2003 when he received an RKO from “The Legend Killer,” he’d remain in the stands for future WWE events. However, in 2009 before their match at TLC, John Cena and Sheamus faced off in the ring accompanied by Cuban. A brawl ensued leaving Cena lying, and Cuban at the mercy of “The Celtic Warrior.” Sheamus proceeded to slam Cuban through a table. Regardless of his business practices or outspokenness, the man isn’t afraid to take a bump.

2 MacGruber

"MacGruber" was an SNL character played by Will Forte in the 2000s and was getting its own spinoff movie in 2010. In April of that year, Forte and costars Kristen Wiig and Ryan Phillippe stopped by RAW to promote the comedy. Seasoned comedians Forte and Wiig set the stage by throwing some funny insults the way of Vladimir Kozlov, thus landing MacGruber himself a 1-on-1 match with "The Moscow Mauler."

MacGruber was on the business end of a handful of headbutts when Phillippe interrupted the match, announcing it was now a 2-on-1 match where MacGruber would team up with his half-brother "Khal-uber" (The Great Khali in a blond wig). As zany as this sounds, it fit perfectly with the tone of the original SNL sketch, and the commitment of all involved made the crowd actually get into it. But not before R-Truth suffered the effects of a botched explosion. Classic MacGruber.

1 Colin Jost

In more recent SNL-WWE connection, Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che were guests on RAW in March of 2019. Unfortunately for Jost, he made the choice to start a friendly conversation with Braun Strowman, who was fresh off of a loss.

He asked Strowman if wrestling was even real, and Strowman reacted the only way he knows how. By grabbing Jost by his neck and lifting him off the ground. This led to Che and Jost being in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 35. As fodder for Strowman in the match, these two played the part well, and having a WrestleMania Moment may have made being choked out worth it for Jost.
