Some people claim that titles don't mean anything anymore. The thought process is that many titles are not treated like anything more than a prop, and they change hands way too often to make any champion seem worth the effort to remember. However, along the way in WWE, there have been many champions that disprove that notion and make their titles mean something.

Some wrestlers define the titles they hold. Others take the belts and defend them against anyone and everyone and prove over time to be the best in the world. Even when a title might sink due to stagnation, there is always someone out there who wants the chance that will take the title and run with it. Here is a look at the 10 best WWE champions of the decade for every title.

10 WWE: CM PUNK

CM Punk made it to the main WWE roster in 2006, where he quickly rose up the ranks and won the ECW world title. By the time 2010 rolled around, Punk was one of the best wrestlers in the company, already working as the world champion as early as 2008. However, this decade, he was at the very top of the game.

CM Punk retired as a six-time world champion but did something amazing with his final world title reign. CM Punk won the WWE title from Alberto Del Rio in 2011 and held it for 434 days, the longest reign in modern-day WWE history. He beat everyone thrown at him, including several wins over John Cena as the WWE World Champion.

9 UNIVERSAL: BROCK LESNAR

The WWE Universal Championship is the newest men's title in WWE, and that means there are few choices here. Only seven men have held the title, and four of them carried it for 63 days or less. That leaves only three real options: Brock Lesnar, Kevin Owens, and Seth Rollins.

Rollins held the title twice, but Owens' one title reign lasted longer. However, when it comes to the best Universal champion, it isn't even an argument. Despite the fact he rarely shows up in WWE, Brock Lesnar is the best WWE Universal Champion of the decade, with three title reigns totaling over 686 days.

8 RAW WOMEN’S: BECKY LYNCH

The WWE Raw Women's Championship debuted in 2016, and there have been seven champions. Charlotte Flair held it four times, which is more than anyone else, for an impressive 242 days. However, the title of the best goes to one of two women: Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch.

Bliss deserves this spot due to her three title reigns and a record 396 days as the champion. However, Lynch has held the title one time for a total of 232 days. She beat Ronda Rousey for the title and has beaten both Charlotte and Bliss. No one had a longer title reign than Lynch, and she is the best to hold the Raw women's title.

7 SMACKDOWN WOMEN’S: CHARLOTTE FLAIR

While Charlotte Flair held the Raw women's title for more days than she held the SmackDown title, she has one more reign on SmackDown. While she has not reached Becky Lynch's total amount of days as the champion on SmackDown, she ranks second, although Bayley should pass her very soon.

Despite that, Charlotte is a five-time SmackDown women's champion. She loses some points since she lost four of those titles in less than a month each (and one on the same night). However, her other title reign was for 146 days, and that is the longest in SmackDown history.

6 RAW TAG TEAM: THE NEW DAY

The WWE Raw Tag Team Championship began its existence in 2002. While there have been way too many makeshift tag teams and b-level tag teams holding the titles over the last decade, there was one team that ruled the division with an iron fist.

New Day is Raw's best tag team champions of the decade for one big reason: They won the titles in 2015 at SummerSlam and held them until December 2016 for a total of 483 days. That broke Demolition's record for the longest tag title reigns in WWE history. They also won the titles a second time.

5 SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM: THE USOS

While New Day was ruling the Monday Night Raw tag team scene for the last decade, it was the Usos who ruled over SmackDown during that same time. Jimmy and Jey started as a fun-loving high flying Samoan tag team until they developed a mean streak and opened the Usos Penitentiary.

Through the last decade, The Usos won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship four times. While that is one less time than New Day held the same titles, The Usos held them for a combined 379 days, which is almost 200 more days than New Day. No one else comes close.

4 INTERCONTINENTAL: THE MIZ

At the start of the decade, WWE was trying to make The Miz a main event star. He won the world title and even beat John Cena at WrestleMania 27. While Miz is great, he is used best as a mid-card champion, and his runs as the Intercontinental and United States Champion were both better and more entertaining that his world title reign.

Amazingly, The Miz is an eight-time Intercontinental Champion, with only Chris Jericho winning the title more times. The Miz held the title for a combined 599 days, and only the legendary Pedro Morales held it longer. The Miz is not only the best IC champ of the decade but possibly of all-time.

3 UNITED STATES: AJ STYLES

Some people look at AJ Styles as the best world champion in WWE over the last decade, but he falls short of the record title reign held by CM Punk. However, that does not mean Styles is not one of the best champions in WWE of the last decade.

After conquering both Impact Wrestling and New Japan, AJ Styles finally made his way to WWE and conquered it too. While he was a great world champion, he was also a fantastic United States Champion. He held the title three times, carrying it for a combined 225 days.

2 CRUISERWEIGHT: NEVILLE

Neville is now working in AEW as one of their top stars under his former indie name Pac. He left WWE due to his dissatisfaction with how he was being used, especially when WWE thought Enzo Amore deserved the push over Neville. However, before Amore almost destroyed the Cruiserweight title, Neville dominated with it.

The former NXT Champion developed an attitude and became an angry and violent heel in the cruiserweight division. He held the Cruiserweight Championship twice and for 231 days, beating Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa along the way.

1 24/7: R-TRUTH

The WWE 24/7 Championship is a joke title. It can be defended and won anywhere and seemed like it was WWE trying to bring back the beloved Hardcore title. Instead, the title became a joke. A pregnant Maria Kanellis won it. A Fox sports announcer won it. A WWE corporate official won it.

Twenty-one people have won the title and held it for less than a day. However, the WWE 24/7 Championship had one redeeming quality. It allowed R-Truth to be as entertaining as he could, and he alone made it worth watching when it showed up on TV. R-Truth has won the title over 20 times.
