With many wrestlers returning to the ring after being forced to retire due to concussions, it's given fans hope that Christian could be one of the next legends to step back inside the squared circle.

Fans got a taste of Captain Charisma competing again when he briefly went one on one with Randy Orton but, of course, they want to see more than what they got with the unsanctioned match on RAW. Since Christian retired in 2014, there have been a lot of new superstars arriving on the scene in WWE, and some familiar faces that would welcome another opportunity to step in the ring with Captain Charisma.

10 Samoa Joe

Some of Christian's most significant bouts in TNA were against Samoa Joe, who was still adjusting to the main event scene. However, Joe has now settled into this position since coming to WWE and has competed in several main event bouts for the WWE Championship, although he has been unsuccessful in winning the title.

With more experience under his belt and a grander stage, Samoa Joe versus Christian could be an exciting reunion between two of the best that ever stepped foot inside the six-sided ring.

9 Finn Balor

Finn Balor NXT

The Prince and Captain Charisma have sadly never crossed paths in a ring. Both men are of similar heights and combine hard-hitting physicality with aerial maneuvers to take out their opponents. They are also more than capable of building a match through a microphone.

Balor has been on a roll in NXT with his new aggressive persona, and a contest with a legend like Christian could do a lot to elevate The Prince's character to a whole new level. Balor's move-set would compliment Captain Charisma's in-ring style.

8 Roman Reigns

Christian had a few run-ins with The Shield before retiring, but he never got to take his shot at The Big Dog. Reigns would be a test for Captain Charisma as he would need to use his speed, quickness, and wits to outsmart the former Shield member.

While The Big Dog isn't exactly a slower competitor, Reigns would need to focus on maximizing his power moves such as the spear and powerbomb to try and finish Christian. The result would be a race to see who would slip up first and cost themselves the bout.

7 Seth Rollins

The Monday Night Messiah is one of the best competitors in the ring at the moment and is capable of playing both a babyface and a heel, just like Christian.

No matter what type of character they play, inside the ring, both men are capable of telling a story that draws fans in with every move they make. Christian's history with concussions could potentially play a part in the story as Rollins makes attempts to finish Captain Charisma with The Stomp. With so many angles they can take, it would be a crime not to sanction this match.

6 Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura feels lost in limbo on SmackDown at the moment. He lacks a rivalry that he can sink his teeth into. The King Of Strong Style was one of the highlights on NXT, but he hasn't drawn the same success on the main roster except for winning the Royal Rumble.

Competing against someone like Christian could make for not only some entertaining promos between the two but also exciting matches that could bring out some of Nakamura's best work.

5 Cesaro

Cesaro is another performer who seems relegated to the tag team division. He has proved himself as one of the best tag team wrestlers with Sheamus and now with Nakamura, but he's waiting for someone who can make him a main event singles star.

While Christian's run as champion might be over, if he does return to the ring, he'll be looking to help WWE create new superstars. No one is more desperate for his attention than Cesaro. He's been trying to grasp the brass ring for years now, and maybe Captain Charisma can give him a boost.

4 Sami Zayn

He is perhaps one of the most underutilized talents on the roster. The mouth-piece of The Artist Collective, Sami Zayn, would be a fantastic opponent for both Christian's microphone skills and abilities in the ring. Zayn is responsible for some of NXT's best bouts in history, but he's yet to have a classic on the main roster.

With Zayn no longer holding on to the Intercontinental Championship, he will be looking for someone new to antagonize, and picking a fight with Captain Charisma could be entertaining to watch.

3 Kevin Owens

After feuding with Seth Rollins for what seems like forever, Owens has been searching for his next opponent. However, KO is at his best when he's a monster heel that causes physical destruction to anyone he sets his sights on.

Owens has knocked out Vince McMahon with a headbutt and punished Shane McMahon in and out of the squared circle. Putting Owens in the ring with a fellow Canadian could help bring this monster back and set him on a path to the WWE Championship.

2 Daniel Bryan

Christian and Daniel Bryan have tangled several times before when the leader of the yes movement was gaining momentum to compete for the WWE Championship. However, Captain Charisma never got to face him at his peak.

With Bryan starting the process of winding down his career, another bout with Christian should be on the list, if it is an option. With both competitors having a history with concussions, they will be sure to protect one another in the ring.

1 AJ Styles

AJ Styles had the pleasure of stepping in the ring with Christian during their time together in TNA. But the Phenomenal One is an entirely different performer in WWE. The current Intercontinental Champion is better than he's ever been and can have a five-star match with anyone on the roster.

No one else could welcome Christian back to the ring like Styles, as he would not only bring the best out in Captain Charisma but also make him look the legend that he is.
