Because of this and the constant talk from wrestlers in interviews or leaks on the dirt sheets, many different myths have been created about WWE that fans have gone on to believe and take as a fact even though they couldn’t be further from the truth.

Whether it be about WWE’s booking decisions, wrestlers appearances, or backstage fallouts, there have been myths about everything, and within this article, we will be breaking down 10 WWE myths that fans still believe.

10 Two Ultimate Warriors

This myth still remains a popular one amongst wrestling fans, with people believing that when The Ultimate Warrior made his return at WrestleMania VIII to save Hulk Hogan it was a different person portraying the legendary character.

Because the legendary wrestler returned with a very different physical appearance, not being as muscular and with short hair, people instantly assumed it was WWE having someone else portray the character.

In reality, it was Jim Hellwig, who had patched things up with WWE and was ready to work again, just with a different look and physical appearance, with no mystery here.

9 WWE Buried Sting

When The Icon, Sting, finally arrived in WWE, fans were incredibly excited about the potential WrestleMania match he was going to have with The Undertaker, yet WWE opted to have him face Triple H in what would end up being his only ever match at the event.

While it wasn’t the match people wanted, fans quickly bought into the idea of the two legends wrestling each other and the match they had was a lot of fun until Triple H randomly beat Sting, clean in the middle of the ring.

Fans saw this as WWE burying Sting for not coming to the company sooner, but the truth was that WWE was building towards Triple H vs The Rock for the next years WrestleMania, hence their interaction later that night.

8 The Hardcore Championship Was An Old WWF Title

WWE Hardcore Championship

Another classic WWE myth that fans believe (and also created), was the idea that the Hardcore Championship was actually an old WWE Championship that had been redesigned by the company.

It is unknown where, or why this particular myth started as it isn’t like WWE has been strapped for cash and needed to re-use title belts, and it certainly isn’t true, with the Hardcore Championship being a brand new title.

Perhaps because the Hardcore Championship is quite an ugly title, fans thought that WWE had just used bits of another broken belt to create it, but the truth is that this was a totally new title, created to look like that on purpose.

7 WWE Won't Use Anything From WCW

This is a very strange myth that fans have created, with members of the WWE Universe believing that WWE won’t use anything from WCW simply because the company doesn’t want to acknowledge them.

The fact is that WWE has used things from WCW starting as soon as Vince McMahon bought the company, from using talent to PPV ideas like Clash of Champions and War Games, WWE has never shied away from using WCW’s content.

While they might try put a twist on things in order to keep it fresh, that is mainly to make sure that the product feels new and doesn’t get stale, not to bury WCW even further.

6 Sasha Banks Walked Out On WWE

This is a recent myth that fans were convinced was true with many people believing that Sasha Banks had walked out on WWE following WrestleMania 35 because she lost the Women's Tag Team Championships.

Reports of her crying on the floor of the locker room and causing issues backstage were rampant as the dirt sheets claimed she wasn't set to return to the company, however, that was recently proven to not be true.

The Legit Boss made her return and targetted Natalya, with Banks proving that she is far from done with the company, with the reality being that she simply had a little time off to refresh herself and her career.

5 John Cena & Nikki Bella's Engagement Was For Total Divas

This myth is a ridiculous one that took a deep dive into the personal lives of Nikki Bella and John Cena, with some fans, particularly of the Total Divas series, not fully buying into the relationship between the WWE icons.

When John Cena proposed at WrestleMania 33 the wrestling world was shocked and amazed that they got to be part of such a moment, yet some fans were quick to question it, with many believing it was nothing more than a publicity stunt.

Some people felt that it was done simply because of the pressure of the show, and when things came to an end it was proof of that fact, however, the truth of the matter is that things sadly just did not work out.

4 Roman Reigns Was Not Ill

While the last myth was a ludicrous one, this one is quite frankly sickening and upsetting, with some people believing that Roman Reigns never actually had cancer when he went away in 2018.

This wasn't helped by the fact that certain journalists also alluded to the possibility of Roman not having had cancer, with people believing that he returned too fast to have ever been seriously ill.

The fact he filmed Hobbs & Shaw during his time away and then returned just in time for WrestleMania also added fuel to this fire, but this is one myth that needs to be shut down for good.

3 John Cena Can't Wrestle

The classic wrestling myth that has only been created by the fans themselves, with so many members of the WWE Universe believing that John Cena cannot wrestle, despite the fact he has been a main event star for the majority of his career.

While Cena might not be the greatest in-ring technician of all time, there is no doubt that he is a solid hand who is capable of putting on five-star matches when given the time and the right opponent.

Cena has put on some classic matches with the likes of AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, and Shawn Michaels during his career, and is certainly a very good wrestler, no matter what his biggest haters want you to believe.

2 The Montreal Screwjob Was A Work

The Montreal Screwjob has caused more controversy and talking points than any other event in wrestling history, with fans constantly coming up with myths and theories about what actually happened and why.

For some reason, many fans believe that the entire thing was a work and that Bret Hart was in on the idea, despite the fact WWE knew he was heading to WCW and creating a major buzz for a competition talent is bad business.

The fact is that the Montreal Screwjob was very real, and the Hitman had no idea what was going down until it happened, with the scars created from that night taking an incredibly long time to heal.

1 Vince McMahon Is Out Of Touch

A common theory amongst wrestling fans (particularly during a poor period for WWE), is that Vince McMahon is now out of touch and has lost creative ideas, with fans calling for Triple H to take charge.

Whenever anything good happens on WWE television it is because of fantastic writers or the talent themselves, with anything bad always being pinned on the WWE Chairman, yet the truth is that everything goes through Vince.

Good or bad, Vince McMahon will have had his say on everything that happens on every single show, therefore the idea that he is out of touch is completely ridiculous, with Vince still as sharp as ever.
