As per Georgia Smith, Davey Boy Smith's daughter, WWE has confirmed they are pushing back the 2020 Hall of Fame ceremony to a later date.

Georgia took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote, "Just a heads up! I have spoken with @WWE and they are postponing the Hall of Fame for a later date, and are hoping to do it for Summerslam." She adds, that the move would be appropriate for her dad, likely because of his classic match with Bret Hart at Wembley Stadium in London, England in 1992.

With the changes being made to WrestleMania 36 this year, thanks to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, it was logical to assume changes to WWE's fan experiences and other events like the Hall of Fame and NXT: Takeover would likely also be changed.

WWE has not made an official announcement regarding the Hall of Fame, but there was no mention of the newest inductee Jushin "Thunder" Liger on last night's Raw, giving notion to the idea that the event would be either moved or done completely differently.

A Smart Decision By WWE

Considering the Hall of Fame takes place in a smaller venue and is done exclusively as part of WrestleMania weekend, it just makes sense for WWE to postpone the event. The company has total control over when and where the Hall of Fame takes place and moving it to the summer doesn't directly hurt the company as ticket sales and other revenues generated will simply be pushed down the road. In fact, this might bring in more people for the SummerSlam PPV.

While fans who were in Tampa for the weekend will be affected, this isn't great news but they were already given terrible news this week when WrestleMania was moved to the WWE Performance Center. This isn't news they can't get over.
