WWE is constantly looking to keep its roster fresh, it's one of the main reasons why the company has been able to ensure it is the number one product in the world, with talent always coming in to keep fans attention on the product.

While new wrestlers are often being signed the same can be said for people being released with WWE often having a clear up of wrestlers that the company believes they no longer need, letting them go to save money.

Sometimes, those talents go away and prove to be major stars in the wrestling world and this regains WWE's attention and they decide to bring them back creating huge returns that make for some of the best pops possible.

No company uses this revolving door system better than WWE and within this article we shall take a look at seven possible debuts, releases, and returns which could all happen before the end of the year. Some of the wrestlers you'll see under possible debuts and returns are already signed by the company, while others are on the company's radar as possible signings. Sometimes when WWE signs a wrestler though, they don't rush them to the main roster or onto television, but rather look for the ideal time to insert them into a proper storyline. Meanwhile, we can't rule out some possible releases.

21 Debut: Matt Riddle

via wwe.com

This one is pretty much a guarantee as Matt Riddle appeared at the most recent NXT TakeOver with the company announcing that the former UFC star has been signed by the company with his in-ring debut expected soon.

It hasn't happened yet (as of now), but there is no doubt that the King Of The Bros will be popping up on NXT television in the near future, with a possible feud against Kassius Ohno to start his time with the company.

Riddle is one of the very best wrestlers around right now and is a fantastic signing for WWE with his incredible physique and brilliant personality mixing to create a brilliant superstar who is set for a huge career with WWE.

20 Return: Juice Robinson

via sportingnews.com

The New Japan Pro Wrestling star has made a real name for himself since he was released from the company and is currently the IWGP United States Champion, proving that people have seen the talent within him.

Robinson failed to make any real impact in WWE during his time at NXT with his hippie gimmick failing to capture the attention of the fans, yet he received huge praise from former colleagues regarding his attitude, and WWE is reportedly interested in bringing him back.

If he was to return there's no doubt he would be doing so with his current gimmick where he is a slightly cocky young up and comer who believes in his own ability and isn't afraid to tell people what he thinks.

19 Release: Hideo Itami

via wwe.com

When Hideo Itami first joined WWE there was so much expectation for him to be a major star in NXT until he became plagued by injuries which seriously slowed down his progress and saw the company lose some faith in him.

Itami has since been moved to 205 Live in the hope of boosting his stock and helping the brand, but that has fallen flat as well, with Itami making very little difference in the cruiserweight division.

It's clear that he isn't overly happy to be in his current position and he has already been back to Japan for a one-off show, something that might be a hint as to where his future is, with a possible full-time return to Japan seeming like an option.

18 Debut: Joe Hendry

via heraldscotland.com

2018 has been a breakout year for Joe Hendry, breaking out of the UK market and becoming a big name for IMPACT Wrestling which has certainly helped to get eyes on the Englishman.

Hendry has tons of charisma that he could make him a perfect roster member for WWE and with his unique singing entrances, he has an element to his game that is unlike anything ever done before in WWE.

He also has an amateur wrestling background which means not only can he entertain on the microphone but he is able to make a huge impact inside the squared circle, making him a talent WWE has their eyes on.

17 Return: The Rock

via wwe.com

It has been a while since The Rock last showed up in WWE with the People's Champion being so busy with his other movie projects as one of the busiest men in Hollywood, fitting in wrestling has been impossible for him.

However, with SmackDown's historic 1,000th episode coming up, there could be a good chance that he will make room in his busy schedule to make an appearance for the company, even though it likely won't be in a wrestling capacity.

The Rock simply turning up to cut a promo and perhaps hit a Rock Bottom would be more than enough to make the fans happy, and hopefully, that does happen as he played such a key role in SmackDown's early years.

16 Release: Tye Dillinger

via wwe.com

The Perfect 10 was one of the most popular wrestlers in the entire company before he was promoted to the main roster, with "10" chants taking over the entire wrestling world, yet for some reason, WWE hasn't even given him a chance on the main roster.

Dillinger has simply become a jobber and is rarely featured on SmackDown which is a massive shame considering how many years he has worked in WWE to get to this stage, not to mention how much he has to offer.

Despite Dillinger having all the tools to be a huge success in the company, it seems like he is only destined for one thing, and that is a release to the independent scene, which would be a big shame to see.

15 Debut: Dalton Castle

via twitter.com

One of the most charismatic people in wrestling and a damn good worker as well, Dalton Castle is a superb talent that deserves to be on the biggest stage possible, which is WWE where he would certainly shine.

Castle is a former Ring Of Honor World Champion which tends to mean that he is WWE bound as most former ROH Champions end up working for the company and Castle shouldn't be an exception to that.

Having a suplex that even Brock Lesnar would be jealous of, Castle's gimmick is over the top and in your face, but in a great way.

Having two "Boys" by his side who help him earn results, Castle could create an entertaining faction that would really be a big hit.

14 Return: James Storm

via wrestlezone.com

For those that don't know, James Storm has competed in a WWE ring before, making a few very sporadic appearances in NXT before eventually deciding to return to IMPACT Wrestling instead of signing with WWE.

However, Storm has since left IMPACT and it seems like a move back to WWE is possibly on the horizon for the experienced wrestler. Rumors have stated that Storm might end up being involved in the current Bobby Roode and Chad Gable situation.

Roode and Storm were tag team partners in TNA as Beer Money where they were one of the best teams in the world and bringing that to WWE would be a great way to use Roode, adding another experienced team to the company.

13 Release: Jinder Mahal

via wwe.com

That's right, the former WWE Champion may find himself on the chopping block once again in WWE after he has fallen out of the title picture completely and simply just become "another guy" on the roster.

Mahal was clearly used to try and improve the market in India and while you can't blame the company for trying, it's fair to say that the experiment didn't work.

Given that Mahal isn't one of the most talented workers, it brings a question regarding his future.

With more and more incredible wrestlers coming through the developmental system you have to wonder how long people such as Mahal can hold onto their spots in the company, meaning this could be Mahal's final chapter.

12 Debut: Shane Strickland

via wikiwand.com

The WWE made a massive slew of signings over the summer, seemingly to scoop up as much of the competition as possible. One name that has started to float around as a key guy on WWE's radar is Shane Strickland of Evolve. Ironically, Strickland was the guy who defeated Matt Riddle for the Evolve Championship, just before Riddle announced his signing with the WWE.

Strickland could very well be the next guy to sign over with WWE before 2018 ends. He still has some booking commitments to fulfill, but it wouldn't be a surprise for WWE to add Strickland to the NXT roster soon.

11 Return: Kaitlyn

via onlineworldofwrestling.com

We have recently seen Kaitlyn return to WWE within the Mae Young Classic, but that was a one-off appearance for the tournament in order to have a nostalgic name that WWE fans recognize and remember.

However, with Kaitlyn having the itch to return to wrestling, why not bring her back on a full-time capacity? Putting her in NXT would be a great way to give the younger talent someone with experience to work against, whilst allowing her the time to readjust to the wrestling world once again.

Kaitlyn managed to get over with fans during her initial run with the company and people were sad to see her walk away but hopefully, WWE can see the potential in bringing her back and Kaitlyn will return to WWE for another run.

10 Release: Zack Ryder

via wwe.com

How many more years can Zack Ryder continue working in WWE despite the fact he is clearly just treading water and could be making a much bigger impact out on the currently red-hot independent scene?

Ryder has gone from being one of the most popular wrestlers on the planet to barely being featured anywhere other than Main Event.

If WWE doesn't have any plans for him or a reason to keep him around then it would not be a surprise to see him get cut from the company and be released, despite how long he has worked with the WWE for.

9 Debut: Chelsea Green

via youtube.com

Speaking of Zack Ryder, whilst he might be on his way out one person who could be on their way in is his real-life partner, Chelsea Green who is one of the very best independent wrestlers available right now.

Green is currently a free agent and has had tryouts with the company, showing that WWE is well aware of her ability and potential, with Green also being a former Tough Enough contestant.

Green has everything that WWE is looking for, with the fact she is beautiful, has fantastic in-ring skills, and a very unique character-driven gimmick that is unlike anything else in WWE, it seems like a matter of time before she appears at Full Sail.

8 Return: Chris Jericho

via youtube.com

He might be the current IWGP Intercontinental Champion but Chris Jericho is very much a "WWE guy" and few have more respect for Vince McMahon than him which means that at some stage he is going to show up again.

Jericho has already suggested an idea where he would face WWE's Intercontinental Champion, so it's clear that the WWE legend is interested in returning to the bright lights as well, it is more a question of when and not if.

Hopefully, when it does happen, Jericho will be using his new gimmick which is much darker than anything we have seen before and would help him stand out in WWE once again like only he knows how to do.

7 Release: Goldust

via wwe.com

It's still a mystery as to why Goldust continues to be on the WWE roster. It would make sense if Goldust was simply working behind the scenes, but on-screen he's more of a nostalgia act than anything. If Goldust were to return to the indies, he could probably have some fresh matchups and experiment with something other than the Goldust gimmick. Dustin Rhodes recently hinted he wants to be at All In 2, whenever it happens alongside his brother. Perhaps that's a sign that Goldust's time with WWE is coming to a close.

6 Debut: Young Bucks

via vice.com

They are the talk of the wrestling world right now following an incredible ALL IN weekend and fans are pretty much split when it comes to the talented brothers, with some hoping they join WWE and others begging them not to do it.

Both men have made no secret over the fact that their contracts are up this year, meaning they have a decision to make in regards to whether they stick around on the independent scene or make the jump to WWE.

Whilst they would make an incredible living staying out of WWE, the chance to perform at the highest level is something that must intrigue the Jackson's and after proving how much they can draw with ALL IN it is now time for them to jump to the big leagues.

5 Return: Batista

via georgetowner.com

The Animal, Batista has made it clear countless times in interviews and now on social media that he wants to return to WWE and he has even stated that the feud he wants is to be against Triple H.

Whilst WWE has ignored him and not responded at times, the company did try to have Batista as Ronda Rousey's WrestleMania 34 tag team partner but it was an idea that he turned down, proving that both sides are interested but are struggling to work out a deal.

With Batista's Guardians Of The Galaxy future very much in doubt, a possible return could be around the corner with his schedule being more open and with his star power being much bigger than it ever has been, it seems like the perfect situation for both parties.

4 Release: The Club

via wwe.com

The WWE careers of The Club simply hasn't gone to plan for Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, with the pair struggling to get any TV time no matter how hard they are working off camera.

There have been a few glimpses of brilliance from the duo who did manage a run with the Raw Tag Team Championships

With a major feud brewing between original Bullet Club members and newer members, it could be the ideal time for the talented tag team to walk away from WWE and move on, something the company might want to happen with plenty of exciting teams in NXT ready to replace them.

3 Debut: Motor City Machine Guns

via twitter.com

It's no secret that the WWE's tag team scene is quite thin, especially with some key injuries on the roster at the moment. The Motor City Machine Guns would be a much needed boost to the division. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin reunited in 2016 as a team and quickly rekindled the chemistry they showed back in Impact and ROH as a unit. The WWE tag team scene has too many teams that were just randomly thrown together whereas Shelley and Sabin are a true team. The one concern for them would be WWE quickly letting them get lost in the shuffle, like so many other recent signings.

2 Return: Rey Mysterio

via youtube.com

The return is basically cemented as Rey Mysterio has in fact re-signed with WWE. It's now just a question of when he makes his full-time return to television. We've already seen Mysterio at both Royal Rumble events this year and with WWE heading to Australia and Saudi Arabia, the company will likely bring Mysterio into the fold for those events.

It's clear that the WWE Universe is excited about Mysterio again and there is plenty for him to get involved with should he return. Now the only question is who will Mysterio face when he returns?
