Once the biggest part of the summer is out of the way, WWE tends to make some changes to the roster. It may not be quite as significant as WrestleMania postseason, but SummerSlam also brings along some new faces and major changes to the storylines. This year isn't expected to be any different as there have already been numerous Superstars linked with a WWE return - some of whom have been away from the company for years while others were simply recovering from an injury.

And considering that WWE didn't make any budget cuts earlier this year, it is expected to take place within the next few weeks as many Superstars may find themselves away from the company. Not particularly a surprise since the WWE roster has gotten massive and will only have more names in the future, if the rumors turn out to be true.

With many signings taking place in recent times, they are now expected to compete in NXT for the first time as they finish their training at the Performance Centre. It is an exciting time to be a WWE fan since many storylines are finally being concluded, and there will be new faces to look forward to seeing in the ring. As the company begins to prepare for its next major pay-per-view in Survivor Series, you can expect some significant changes made on all brands. With today's list, we look at 7 WWE debuts, 7 releases and 7 returns to expect soon:

21 Debut: Jessamyn Duke

via youtube.com

After having been advertised to compete in July, Jessamyn Duke's NXT debut has been postponed following an injury. For the past three months, Duke has been training at the Performance Center as she transitions from MMA into a professional wrestler with Marina Shafir by her side. Being a close friend of Ronda Rousey, as well as a member of the MMA Four Horsewomen, Duke has a great opportunity to find even more success in the WWE.

If she goes on to impress in NXT, then a future reunion with Rousey may not be out of question since the company had previously teased a showdown between the Four Horsewomen of MMA against the Four Horsewomen of WWE.

20 Return: The Undertaker

via cagesideseats.com

Since his presumes retirement at WrestleMania 33, The Undertaker has gone on to make a number of appearances with the WWE and it seems like he isn't quite ready to call it a career just yet. Not only has he been advertised for a live show against Triple H in Melbourne, but WWE has also began featuring him in promotions for the upcoming 1000th episode of SmackDown. And while some fans were hoping to see him return sooner - possibly at SummerSlam - they will likely have to wait until October to see The Deadman back in action.

19 Release: The Good Brothers

via wwe.com

It's safe to say that fans had anticipated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to have a much more successful stint with the company.

While it hasn't been a failure by any means - as they have won the Raw Tag Team Championship - they haven't quite lived up to expectations in WWE.

With much of the blame being placed on the creative team's inability to book them successfully, it is likely too late to gain that initial buzz once again. And if they end up being released from the WWE - it may not necessarily be the worst thing for the team as they are much more likely to succeed elsewhere.

18 Debut: Lacey Lane

via wwe.com

The signing of Lacey Lane has gone under the radar as she isn't exactly well-known yet. Fans who keep up with the independent circuit - specifically The Crash - are likely to be familiar with her work. She had been apart of a WWE tryout last year, and gave it another shot this year to earn a contract. The terms of the contract are unknown but you will certainly be seeing Lane make her WWE debut in the next few months. Some fans believe that she has all the tools to have a great future in the company, so it will be interesting to see her in action.

17 Return: Big Show

via sportskeeda.com

Fans may have forgotten that Big Show is still a part of the WWE roster since he hasn't competed in nearly a year. After suffering an injury that put him out of action for a few months, he would end up hurting himself once again to delay his return for some more time. In a recent interview, Big Show confirmed that he is now fully healthy and ready to return to action - giving a timeline of few weeks for his return. With his last bouts coming against Braun Strowman - all of which exceeded expectations - it remains to be seen in which capacity Big Show will be used.

16 Release: Neville

via wrestlingnewsblog.com

It's been almost a year since Neville decided to leave the WWE although the company has yet to grant him a release. It was evident that Neville had enough of the WWE booking when he left - leaving no chance for a potential return. Despite being contacted by the WWE, Neville hasn't changed his mind at all.

More recently, Triple H was vague with his response regarding the status of Neville - so it is likely that he may be granted a release after all sometime this year.

If not, then Neville will be apart of the roster until his contract expires.

15 Debut: Pentagon Jr.

via si.com

It appears that the WWE wants to boost the 205 Live division as they have been linked with a number of cruiserweights. But none have been quite as intense as rumors surrounding the future of Pentagon Jr - who is expected to join the WWE in the near future. Although he is still set to compete elsewhere - it is likely that the two sides are still working on the final details of his contract. Pentagon Jr would be a welcomed addition to the roster and will only generate more excitement for the division - thanks to his experience and style of wrestling.

14 Return: Kaitlyn

via picclick.uk

Kaitlyn is set to make her WWE return as a participant in the 2018 Mae Young Classic tournament after having been away for four years. Considering that she was previously established as a member of the roster as the winner of the third season of NXT as well as a former Diva's Champion - it is surprising that Kaitlyn is being placed in the tournament. With the significant improvements made to the division in recent years, it is possible that the company wants Kaitlyn to earn back a spot on the main roster. She was recently spotted backstage at the taping of SmackDown, as she prepares for her WWE return.

13 Release: Mickie James

via wwe.com

Since her return to the WWE, Mickie James has taken on the role of a veteran on the roster - assisting younger Superstars in getting over. She loses the majority of her matches, but it is no surprise as the WWE believes that James can get the best out of her opponents.

With many plans outside of the WWE - including some musical projects - as well as a recent injury, we cannot imagine 38-year-old James to be in the WWE for much longer.

She has already lost most of her kayfabe credibility so Superstars aren't exactly getting over for picking up a win over James at this point.

12 Debut: The Young Bucks

via wrestlepedia.wiki.com

The Young Bucks are the hottest team outside of the WWE - and arguably the most popular in professional wrestling today. They previously had minor stints with the company - working as jobbers long before they established themselves. There has also been heat between the team and the company, which reportedly has delayed their signing a number of times. But rumors have been heating up in the previous months with claims that there is mutual interest between the two parties to work on a deal. While some fans may not be keen on seeing them give in, the odds have significantly increased in recent weeks.

11 Return: The Rock

via wwe.com

It's been nearly two and a half years since we last saw The Rock in a WWE ring. He has been kept busy with his various film projects - although rumors indicate that The Rock is itching to make a WWE return. Considering his love for the industry, it doesn't come off as a surprise especially since The Rock may have the time to do so in the upcoming year. Being 47 years old, it is no surprise that The Rock wants to appear in the WWE while he remains in top physical shape. And if the rumors come to fruition, then he will be feuding with Roman Reigns in the near future.

10 Release: Rhyno

via wrestlingedge.com

When Rhyno was brought back to the WWE, it was already surprising since most fans figured he would never be employed by them again - especially since he had been gone for a decade. Rhyno was still a good worker and even managed to win the tag team titles alongside Heath Slater. But ever since the team ran its course, it became evident that Rhyno wouldn't be around for too long.

Since the company didn't make their yearly budget cuts after WrestleMania, many Superstars were fortunate enough to retain their job.

But we would certainly be surprised to see Rhyno sticking around as an active Superstar for much longer.

9 Debut: MJ Jenkins

via pinterest.com

MJ Jenkins is one of the lesser known recent signings by the WWE, as she earned a contract in June. She is now working at the Performance Center as she continues to train and adapt to the industry. She had previously worked for Impact Wrestling, as well as other promotions, to get on the radar of the WWE. But it was reportedly her impressive performances during a tryout in June that got her signed by the company - so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Jenkins. It is very likely that she makes her NXT debut before the end of the year.

8 Return: Hulk Hogan

via tumblr.com

At this point, it's not a question whether Hulk Hogan will return to the WWE but more so when he will appear. Having been reinstated into the Hall of Fame last month, it became apparent that the company was planning to bring him back in some capacity. He appeared backstage at a SmackDown taping in which WWE was reportedly filming a Network special regarding Hogan's return. And while the news hasn't been met with positive reactions from all fans and Superstar, Hogan is still popular enough to generate plenty of interest despite the leaked tapes.

7 Release: Alicia Fox

via 24wrestling.com

There were rumors that Alicia Fox could be exiting the company, although she ended up sticking around. After an injury put her out of action for a while, Fox has been attempting to establish herself once again.

With her recent loss against Ronda Rousey in her Raw debut, it is easy to see as to why the WWE used her instead of someone else.

Not only are they saving up future matches between Rousey and Superstars on the roster, but they are also trying to take advantage of Fox being somewhat over before she slides down the pecking order. Considering her age, as well as the improved women's division, we cannot imagine Fox sticking around for too long .

6 Debut: Marina Shafir

via wwe.com

Much like Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir has discovered that being a close friend of Ronda Rousey has some great perks. A few weeks ago, she began training with the WWE as she transitions into a professional wrestler. And while she has already competed at an NXT house show, Shafir has yet to make her debut on a live show. She was supposed to team up with Duke for their in-ring debut in July, although an injury to the latter put those plans on hold for the time being. Considering that the injury wasn't deemed too serious, you can expect to see both women in a WWE ring within the next few months.

5 Return: Jason Jordan

via wwe.com

Jason Jordan's return has already been delayed a number of times since the doctors didn't clear him to return. As he continues to progress towards full health, rumors have indicated that he may be back by the fall. With Seth Rollins now busy in a different storyline, it is unlikely that their partnership will resume once Jordan is ready to compete again. He may be reuniting with his former Chad Gable according to several reports, as the company is working to strengthen the tag team division. The upcoming months will be decisive for the future of Jordan in the WWE.

4 Release: Zack Ryder

via wwe.com

Zack Ryder is another Superstar who is fortunate to still be employed by the WWE considering that he hasn't been relevant in a number of years. Despite gaining an impressive following early in his career, WWE never capitalized on his popularity and Ryder ended up being lost in the shuffle for the following years.

He seems to be somewhat popular behind the scenes, which might explain as to why he stuck around for that long.

At this point, it is evident that Ryder doesn't have much to offer the WWE going forward, and we wouldn't be surprised to see him released in the near future.

3 Debut: Matt Riddle

via si.com

Two weeks ago, Matt Riddle finally agreed to join the WWE. Fans have been wanting to see him there for a while, and although some were skeptical whether the company would hire him - they were more than happy to see him agree on a three year deal. It has yet to be confirmed as to when Riddle will step into a WWE ring, but you should expect his NXT debut in the near future. He is fully healthy at the moment and experienced enough to not need a long time to prepare, so Riddle will surely be making his highly anticipated debut in the upcoming months.

2 Return: Rey Mysterio

via si.com

For the past year, rumors have linked Rey Mysterio with a return to the WWE. Despite all the ongoing rumors, the two sides have been unable to reach a long-term deal thus far, mainly due to their disagreement regarding the schedule. With Mysterio excelling outside of the WWE, he isn't desperate for a return, although he has expressed a desire to have one last run with the company. And based on the reaction at received at the 2018 Royal Rumble, and again at the Greatest Royal Rumble, it's easy to see why the WWE remains highly interested in his services.
