As a wrestling fan, and an avid fan of the WWE, it often seems like Vince McMahon is actively trying to work against things that make me enjoy his product. But he has been the most successful wrestling promoter the business has ever seen, so the majority of fans can give him a pass. However, a story has broke that makes absolutely no sense from either side.

As you’d be aware if you watch Smackdown, Greg Hamilton is a great ring announcer. His pacing is brilliant, but it’s one particular pause during his pacing that the WWE have perceived as him trying to get himself over, rather than the Superstars. After announcing “this match is scheduled for one fall,” the WWE crowd chant “one fall” back to Hamilton. It’s a great way to get the crowd pumped up for a match, but if recent reportings from Taz, the Wrestling Observer and Sportskeeda are to be believed, the WWE have instructed this to stop. It’s going to be very interesting to see how Hamilton reacts on SmackDown, as it’s one of the reasons why he and his announcing is so over. It will definitely annoy the live crowd to not be as involved as they once were.

It makes sense why WWE would want the wrestlers to be the focus of the show, as they are the ones we pay good money to see. But this micro-management is just ridiculous, as it is always the loudest chant on any given SmackDown show. At the end of the day, this isn’t going to change our entire perception of Smackdown Live or the WWE, but it will likely anger many fans. It could even make them wish the out-of-touch McMahon would step down ASAP so the fans would again become the number one priority.

So what do you guys think? Is this no big deal? Are the WWE shooting themselves in the foot for absolutely no reason? Do you even care about Hamilton and the great ‘one fall’ chant? Let us know in the comments below.
