The SmackDown Women's Championship is a relatively young title. It debuted in August 2016 following the new brand split, with the established WWE Women's Title, held by Charlotte Flair, becoming the Raw Women's Championship.

The blue belt is young but has been held by stellar athletes and fought over in incredible matches. Bayley currently holds the belt and reigns atop the SmackDown women's division with Sasha Banks in her corner and a plethora of talented women have held the belt before her. Here is every SmackDown Women's Champion ranked, so far.

8 Natalya

Natalya is a veteran Superstar in the women's division. She is a third-generation wrestler and the only female competitor to graduate from the Hart Dungeon. Considering her talent and dedication to the company, it is surprising that she has only won two championships during her long tenure with WWE.

Natalya won the Divas Championship in 2010 and didn't capture her second title until 7 years later. The Queen of Harts, fresh from a needed heel turn, faced Naomi for the SmackDown Women's Championship at SummerSlam and went on to hold the blue belt for 86 days. Natalya's reign was well-deserved but underwhelming. She is one of the most talented wrestlers in the women's division. However, her reign with the title was largely forgettable.

7 Carmella

Carmella has won one Women's Championship so far in her WWE career. The Princess of Staten Island was mostly an afterthought when she debuted on the main roster in 2016 but grew into her character after a heel turn and an entertaining feud with Nikki Bella. She won the inaugural women's Money In The Bank ladder match and cashed in her contract on Charlotte Flair to capture the SmackDown Women's Championship.

Carmella lacked the credibility of other wrestlers such as Becky Lynch and Asuka, but she excelled in the role of a bad guy. However, James Ellsworth's presence in the first women's Money In The Bank ladder match drew a great deal of controversy and damaged Carmella's credibility.

6 Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss has led a pretty impressive WWE career so far. She has won the Raw Women's Championship three times, the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships with Nikki Cross once and the SmackDown Women's Championship twice. She won the blue belt for the first time in 2016 after facing the inaugural champion Becky Lynch in a table match at TLC.

The Goddess captured the SmackDown Women's Championship again in 2017 after the title was vacated by Naomi. Although her feud with The Man for the blue belt was less entertaining than her rivalry with Ronda Rousey for the Raw Women's Title, Bliss was a credible champion who helped elevate SmackDown's women's division.

5 Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch is one of the biggest stars in the company and her rise to the top began when she was drafted to SmackDown in 2016. The Man won the SmackDown Women's Championship for the first time at Backlash after she defeated Nikki Bella, Carmella, Naomi, Natalya, and Alexa Bliss in a six-pack challenge to become the inaugural champion.

The Man's first reign with the blue belt was mostly forgettable. SmackDown's women's division was struggling to keep up with Raw's, which had Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair competing in the main event. However, a 'heel' turn made her a fan-favorite Superstar and Lynch defeated Charlotte Flair at Hell In A Cell in 2018 to win the title for a second time before dropping it to Asuka. She recaptured the belt at WrestleMania 35 in a winner-takes-all match that included Flair and Ronda Rousey.

4 Naomi

Like Natalya, Naomi is another veteran Superstar who was long overdue a reign with the women's title. She debuted on the main roster in January 2012 alongside Cameron as tag-team The Funkadactyls but didn't win her first championship until February 2017. Naomi defeated Alexa Bliss for the SmackDown Women's Championship at Elimination Chamber and fans were thoroughly behind her, chanting "you deserve it!" when she appeared on the following episode of SmackDown.

Sadly, Naomi was forced to vacate the title after a recognized 8 days due to injury. It was a devastating moment to see the former NXT star relinquish the title. However, Naomi recaptured the SmackDown Women's Championship in her hometown of Orlando, Florida at WrestleMania 33 in a six-patch challenge featuring Mickie James, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Alexa Bliss, and Natalya. It was a victorious moment and a well-deserved highlight in Naomi's career.

3 Asuka

Asuka has only had one reign with the SmackDown Women's Championship so far but her credibility as one of the most talented wrestlers in the women's division made it one of the better reigns in the blue belt's history. Asuka defeated Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch for the title in Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at TLC in 2018. It remains one of the best women's matches in WWE history and a worthy beginning of a championship reign for the Empress of Tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Asuka wasn't booked as the unstoppable force she should have been afterward. She held the belt for a recognized 99 days before abruptly losing it to Charlotte Flair to shoe-horn a second championship into the triple-threat match at WrestleMania 35. However, she is still one of the most skilled wrestlers in the company and her match against Becky Lynch at Royal Rumble was an excellent example that preludes their next highly-anticipated clash.

2 Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair has forged an incredible WWE career so far. She has won the Raw Women's Championship four times, the Divas Championship once and the SmackDown Women's Championship an impressive five times. Her legacy is assured and she is undeniably one of the most successful Superstars to compete in WWE's women's division.

The Queen won the blue belt for the first time after defeating Natalya on SmackDown in November 2017. Her first reign brought heaps of star power to the title and the championship has since been fought over in stellar matches. The Queen defeated Becky Lynch, Asuka, and Carmella to capture the championship another four times.

1 Bayley

Bayley is at the top of her game currently in WWE. The Huggable One's character was starting to feel stale and stationary until her sensational heel turn shocked the wrestling world. Bayley cashed in her Money In The Bank contract in May 2019 to capture the SmackDown Women's Championship for the first time from Charlotte Flair before dropping the belt to The Queen at Hell In A Cell.

Bayley's heel turn was cemented by her second SmackDown Women's Championship win. She defeated Flair for the blue belt in October 2019 and is the current champion with the longest-combined reign.
