This year's Extreme Rules event was always going to be very different and unique. WWE added The Horror Show element and created some rather ridiculous stipulations for some of the matches which brought plenty of dangerous action.

However, while there was plenty of wild moments on the show, there was also some amazing wrestling. Over the night there was a real array of action, and in this list, we shall be taking each match from worst to best.

7 Swamp Fight: Bray Wyatt vs Braun Strowman

Bray Wyatt Braun Strowman Swamp Fight

Cinematic matches are very much hit and miss at this point, and sadly the swap fight really was a miss. There was just far too much storytelling and not enough action going on here, with none of the match really engaging at any point.

Everything was done in complete darkness making things hard to see and while the Alexa Bliss spot was cool, the rest of the match was just a disappointment. With a random snake attack, alligators that weren't actually in the swamp, and Braun seemingly drowning to death, there were very few positives to take from this one.

6 Eye For An Eye Match: Rey Mysterio vs Seth Rollins

This was always going to be utterly ridiculous and it certainly lived up to every bit of that. The actual wrestling here was very good, which is expected between two established stars, but the finish was always going to be a disaster.

Rey Mysterio's eyeball falling out of his head, while he had a fake eyeball in his hand was just a new level of crazy. Add in Seth Rollins throwing up in the corner after seeing the eye, and then you get this mess. It's the type of match that wrestling fans get embarrassed over, which is a real shame because everything up until the eye spot was actually entertaining.

5 Kevin Owens vs Murphy

This was the kick-off match of the show and it was a fantastic one to start the PPV. Normally these matches hold a little something back due to it being on the pre-show, but that wasn't the case with this one.

Both men went all out here with a really fast-paced back and forth match that was full of highflying action and strikes that really made for an engaging bout. It showcased just how talented both men were, which was a great way to start the event.

4 SmackDown Women's Title Match: Bayley vs Nikki Cross

Both Bayley and Nikki Cross are putting together some of the best work of their careers right now, which was always going to make this match a solid one. They told a really good story with Nikki desperately wanting to get her first singles title.

While there was nothing extreme about it, this was still a really entertaining singles match. Having Bayley cheat to win only enhances her character while protecting Nikki at the same time, which isn't a bad thing at this point.

3 Tag Team Title Tables Match: New Day vs Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro

WWE utilized the tornado tag rules really well in this match, having all four men involved in the action all the way through. It allowed them to really push a lot of close calls with table spots that meant the partners had to fight to get the other man safe.

They had really good chemistry together with some fantastic close calls that built up the momentum really nicely throughout the match. Creating new champions was the right call here and the final spot was a truly brutal one with Kofi Kingston being power bombed through two tables to the floor, adding some real drama.

2 WWE Championship Extreme Rules Match: Drew McIntyre vs Dolph Ziggler

Yet again, Drew McIntyre put together another fantastic WWE Championship match, continuing to create a fantastic reign as champion. Dolph Ziggler was smart with the stipulation here, having it only be an Extreme Rules match for him.

Adding that Drew would lose the title from disqualification and count out was another smart heel move, and it made for a great match. Dolph was able to use weapons to really cut Drew down to size, while the champion really had to fight from behind to defend his title.

1 Raw Women's Title Match: Asuka vs Sasha Banks

This was a tremendous match with a terrible finish. The chances of this having a clean finish were always going to be slim, but having Bayley become the referee at the very end was a little far fetched. It's something that can play into further storylines though if WWE is smart about its booking.

However, prior to that everything that happened was amazing. Both women took some crazy bumps and they put everything they had into this one with some really strong strikes, counters, and submissions, which made this such a great match to watch.
