RUMOR: WWE Planning Female Royal Rumble To Have 30 Participants

Early reports indicate that the Women's Royal Rumble is going to consist of 30 participants just like the male version of the match.

Stephanie McMahon came to the ring during the final segment of Raw this past Monday night in order to make a groundbreaking announcement. On Jan. 28, 2017, there will be the first ever all-female Royal Rumble match. The matchup joins an ever-growing list of firsts from WWE's women including their first ever Hell In A Cell and Money In The Bank matches.

Judging by what was said by some of SmackDown Live's women the night after the announcement the female Royal Rumble will have a similar prize on the line to the men's match. That being whoever wins the over the top rope epic will earn themselves a championship match at WrestleMania, presumably whichever brand the winner is on will dictate which championship they are eligible to challenge for.

There are still a lot of questions that fans want to know the answers to, and one of those questions is how many Superstars will be in the women's Royal Rumble. Aside from the 2011 match, every Royal Rumble has been made up of 30 participants, and according to Cageside Seats, the women's version of the marquee match will be no different. This has not yet been confirmed by WWE however.

If the rumors are true and there will be 30 women competing in the Royal Rumble then that is going to leave the roster looking pretty thin. In fact, it may even be a case of the only two women on the roster not being included will be the respective Women's Champions. By our count, there are currently 19 women on the main roster who would be eligible for the Rumble. If there are indeed going to be 30 competitors then WWE will need to call up a few stars from NXT as well as bring back a few female alumni.

A lot of the time, it can feel like WWE are killing their gimmick matches by having too many of them on the same night, such as Hell In A Cell and Elimination Chamber match ups. The Royal Rumble is one of the most highly anticipated matches of the year though, and having two on the same night in this instance is almost certainly going to be better than just the one.
