The Fiend is currently one of the hottest characters in WWE. Possibly no character in WWE history has ever benefited from a recreation than Bray Wyatt, immediately finding a place in the hearts of fans and success obtaining the Universal Championship upon his return in 2019.  He even made the cut as WWE 2K20's first DLC release.

Kicking off 2020, Wyatt is currently in a feud with Daniel Bryan which will soon run its course. Given that his character doesn’t really need a championship to stay relevant, his future with the company has many opportunities. In looking at the options moving forward, here are ten superstars we think might cross paths with Wyatt, separated by the ones we hope to see and the ones we don’t.

10 Want: The Undertaker

Getting this one out of the way up front, we want to see Bray’s current character have an honest run with The Undertaker. This could be Taker’s retirement match or just a longer run-up to a big pay-per-view. In any case, we want to see it happen.

Here’s the thing. We know that this match already happened. Despite Wyatt being injured, the two pulled off a match at Wrestlemania 31 even if it did serve to help bury Wyatt. During the lead up to the match, Wyatt worked amazing promos to prepare us for it, and that was his old character. Imagine what the Firefly Funhouse could bring into the mix.

9 Don’t: Roman Reigns

On the list for Wyatt’s most likely Wrestlemania opponent, Roman Reigns fits the bill for a feud with Bray Wyatt. He’s a top guy that WWE doesn’t know how to use, and he has history with Wyatt which we know The Fiend will be keen on laying to rest sooner or later.

With recent antics between Reigns and Baron Corbin, this might be out of the picture again, but we doubt that’s the case. Reigns is a fantastic competitor, and the two could probably put on an amazing show. Unfortunately, Reigns’ current character doesn’t belong anywhere near the title scene, and we’d rather have this wait for the aftermath of Bray’s title run.

8 Want: Braun Strowman

While Braun Strowman has also been the victim of poor booking in recent times, he feels more genuine. As a large man whose main character trait is being strong, it’s tough to really kill the heart of his character. All Strowman needs is a series of properly booked matches and he could be back on top. He also needs to stop running around outside the ring.

The former Black Sheep of the Wyatt Family would be an interesting adversary for The Fiend to take on. Somehow, when Strowman left his former brothers, there was no real aftermath. He simply made a clean break. That has to be resolved at some point, and we’d appreciate it sooner than not.

7 Don’t: Erick Rowan

The same cannot be said for the other surviving remnant of Bray’s old clan. Erick Rowan has been taken down rabbit holes of irrelevance, suffering as a dominating Bludgeon Brother, then a weird sidekick, Bludgeon Brother for a day, and now he has a cage. Something has seriously gone wrong.

It’s an absolute crime that Rowan is still with the promotion and Luke Harper isn’t. If Harper were still on the roster, we would bump daily to see The Fiend clash with his former partner. Given that Rowan never had quite the personality or in-ring prowess of Harper, we’ll take a pass here.

6 Want: Matt Hardy

Yes, we’re still on former partners with unresolved issues. This one genuinely baffles us given that the two even interact on social media.

If you’ve been out for a while, we’ll fill you in. Before Bray Wyatt disappeared and re-emerged as the host of a hit children’s show, he was The Eater of Worlds. That gimmick was destroyed by the almighty WWE creative team, and Matt Hardy put the nail in its coffin, offering Bray new life as his partner while recreating his Broken gimmick.

When Hardy was sidelined, Bray simply disappeared. Now that both are able to compete, when is The Fiend going to remember the man who destroyed his former character? We hope it happens before Hardy leaves the promotion.

5 Don’t: Randy Orton

Before Hardy, there was Randy Orton.

This had all the makings of greatness. Orton joined Wyatt, the two seemed dominant, Orton betrayed Wyatt as we all knew he would, some great promos were cut, the world was hyped, and then we got a House of Horrors match and... maggots.

Orton and Wyatt are capable of more. We know that. We just don’t think WWE does. Wyatt’s initial references to Orton in the Funhouse were great but let’s not fly too close to the sun. Save this one for a lot later down the line.

4 Want: Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens sitting on the turnbuckle

With everyone hyping up Kevin Owens to challenge Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania on the red brand, there’s little hope that this will happen soon, but we definitely want it eventually. KO’s status as a top talent has been hard-earned and we hope to see it maintained indefinitely.

A match with Brock will be good if it happens. Owens is certainly physical enough to match The Beast. Take a moment though and consider Owens in the ring with Wyatt. Both men have interesting styles which aren’t replicated elsewhere on the roster. Both are physical and innovative. Both have very awkward happy sides. We think this rivalry could really take off.

3 Don’t: Baron Corbin

Remember when the King of the Ring tournament was a stepping stone to greatness? Some of the greatest championship runs in WWE history began by winning this very tournament. But what has Baron Corbin done with his platform? Renamed Chad Gable. Covered Roman Reigns with dog food. Altered his entrance music.

We’re happy with where Corbin is currently. We’d have really enjoyed seeing Corbin step into the main event scene in 2019. At some point, that desire went away and we definitely don’t want Corbin getting anywhere near one of the most cherished gimmicks currently active.

2 Want: Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar

What we do want is The Beast taking on The Fiend. We don’t care which title is on the line, we don’t care when, where, why, or how. We only care that these two men get in the ring together.

Not following? Here’s the thing. Both of these men are currently at the top of their brand. That alone sets the expectations high. Going a step further, picture Paul Heyman interacting with the Funhouse Bray in promos. That has potential we can’t even imagine.

Looking purely in the ring, this has all the potential in the world. Physical guys who use power moves and pace matches well belong in the ring together. The only downside we can possibly find is that the amount of sweat each of these competitors produces during a bout would likely flood the arena it transpires in. We say that’s a fair trade.

1 Don’t: Sting

The Fiend likes attacking legends. He did for a while anyway, and we have no reason to believe that trend is necessarily over. It’s mostly just been detoured. At some point, he will likely attack another legend. Our preference would be The Undertaker or Kane. Either of these makes sense and could lead to more than just a jump.

Unfortunately, when you talk about legends and matches, Sting always comes into the conversation. We’re sorry, but the time is over. He was once great. He isn’t anymore. Entering Sting in the ring with The Fiend would be a mistake, and we truly hope that isn’t one WWE decides to make.
